This was not my favorite book by Theo Baxter but I still
like this author.
This story was sad and hit some mental spots in my own life but I stuck with it and finished the book.

You think you are getting the story line but there are a few strange things here and there. But if you keep reading those “strange things” will reveal a completely different story line from what you first thought.

There are some areas that may be hard to read for some
but at the same time by the end of the book you feel a little lighter.

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨ Mystery thriller
✨ psychological
✨ dark and intriguing

✨Maggie’s mother character here was lovable. She will do everything she can to save her kid. But why some people and even family doesn’t want to believe in her?

✨ this book was quite different, I thought it will be the same story for those who just disappeared and will find her instantly.
✨ the ending was quite dark and amusing, I did not expect that. This is a great read and definitely recommend for someone who is new to dark/mystery thriller trope.

I'm a big fan of Theo Baxter & have read a lot of his books! I was hooked on this story from the very beginning & had to keep reading until I finished so I could find out how it was going to end!

Vanished is a thriller about a women whose daughter goes missing for periods of time and then returns with no hint as to where she has been. I feel the description is a bit different from the premise of the story but it works to draw readers in and keep them wondering.

I actually did not finish this book, I stopped about 40% in. To me, the chapters felt a bit repetitive and I knew where the story was going a couple chapters in. I'm not sure if the foreshadowing was a bit too revealing and allowed me to jump to conclusions that I found were correct by reading the last few chapters of the story.

I enjoyed this book in the beginning and it kept me on my toes, wondering what twist the author was going to throw in. However, by the almost halfway point, I couldn't do the repetitiveness anymore.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are honest and my own.

I was not able to finish the book and therefore do not feel that I can give an unbiased review about the book, its plot, characters, or the author's work. I might revisit this book at a later time and finish it then, but not right now.

A dark and twisted read, full of secrets and paranoia. Maggie and her daughter were really well written characters and I felt for both of them. Also loved the front cover, would look stunning on any bookshelf!

It is a fantastic story, exhilarating plot, well developed characters, and a well executed shocking ending. I read in one day, unputdownable and very addictive. Recommend to every thriller reader.

A gripping domestic thriller that explores the dark underbelly of suburban life, with compelling characters and a suspenseful plot that keeps you guessing until the very end.

I enjoyed the mystery, but it was a little to slow for me. I like a more face paced book, but the writing was very nice.

Vanished

First of all, can we just take a minute to appreciate this front cover!!
The contrast between the dull and dark background and the bright red balloon is really striking (and we all know what that balloon reminds us of!!) - but also the hints that this is going to involve a child - pretty creepy already!

This is also the third of Theo's books that I've read and I literally cannot get enough!

The writing style is amazing - it totally hooks you in right from the start and and for me, I just can't put it down as the tension remains high throughout.

Single mum, Maggie, is struggling to bring up her daughter, Isabel and nobody seems to want to give her a break, even her own parents.
When Isabel starts to disappear and she returns with no memory of the event, Maggie seeks outside help for her, again with no joy.

Maggie was a really interesting character to explore. The emotions and stresses of keeping her child safe and trying to work out what the heck was going on with her, made her completely relatable and I could really feel her pain. Added to this were the complications of her own past and childhood and the continuing family issues of living with her abusive father still.

I loved the way that Isabel's disappearances and lack of memory were written and dealt with. There were times when I thought it could be easily explained - then it would all feel rather sinister again.

This was full of dark secrets and tense moments with a really creepy atmosphere throughout.
I loved the twists and turns which kept me on edge and guessing the truth.
Another brilliant read and am looking forward to my next one by this author....

One thing is certain: I’ve never read a book quite like this one before!

We are following Maggie who lives with her abusive Father, her timid mother and her 8 year old daughter whom she is trying to raise under the same roof but without the trauma her father inflicted upon her own childhood.

This book is wild and although I kind of guessed what was going on early in the story, I still kept doubting myself throughout. It is definitely slow going to start and could be a tad shorter as it gets repetitive at times but I definitely think it’s one that will stay in my mind for a while! A unique premise with an author who isn’t afraid to really get stuck into a storyline.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher and author for my ARC to review!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this arc. Overall a very compelling story with twists and turns. While reading I wasn't sure what direction it was going but I did have an inkling as to one part of the story which I ended up being correct about. Even while figuring out one of the many twists in this book it didn't seem to ruin the rest of the story. The ending was very unexpected. The characters were well thought out yet the plot was just okay. If you enjoy this author definitely give this book a chance.

⚠️Trigger Warning ⚠️ for some - Abuse

I really wanted to like Vanished by Theo Baxter. I just couldn't get into this book. The main character & her daughter just got on my nerves. There were multiple "medical events" that occurred & I just rolled my eyes as the author describes them. I did manage to finish & the last 10% of the book was the best part. I'm willing to try another book by this author. But this one wasn't for me.

Vanished was not what I expected it to be based on the cover and synopsis. It was still an interesting story and the writing was compelling. However, the main twist was revealed pretty early on and the rest of the book was just waiting for the main character to figure it out. It was interesting finding out all the little details along with the MC. Overall though, this book seemed to be way too long and repetitive. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was an interesting read. Took me a little bit to figure out what was going on.

Overall not a bad read but I feel like it could’ve been more, it’s hard to elaborate without giving the ending away but good for a psychological thriller read
