This story was longer than it needed to be. Like a lot. Would have been better if it was shorter. Although the plot twists were very interesting and unexpected they felt a bit too surreal for me. The writing style didn't captivate me but if you enjoy slow paced thrillers with interesting storylines you might enjoy this one.

The brilliance of this novel lies in its ability to keep readers on the edge of their seats, unsure of what to believe or whom to trust. The intricate web of suspense and intrigue weaved by Theo Baxter is nothing short of remarkable. Every twist and turn in the story had me second-guessing, and I found myself engrossed in the guessing game throughout the book.
I won't delve further into the plot to avoid spoilers, but let me assure you that Vanished is a must-read if you want to experience one of the most riveting journeys in the psychological thriller genre. It is a book that will keep you guessing, questioning, and gasping until the very end.

This one did not work for me unfortunately. I had to dnf. I am open to picking it up at a later time but I couldn’t continue at this time.
i actually ended up dnf less then half way thru. i just couldn’t connect to the story line or characters but the idea was there & i think it was a me problem & not the author. i might later in time pick this back up since i kind of did want to know what happens
Why can I never guess the twists in any thriller?? I never would've guessed there be a paranormal twist. It didn't really take away from the story, but I was just surprised. It was a fast paced read and you're rooting for Maggie the whole time.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC
WoW, this book was so good I forgot what time it was.....Vanished by
Theo Baxter gripped me from start to finish and was a Superb psychological thriller with a paranormal twist. especially as it was full of twists and turns. A book you will not get bored with.
Maggie knows someone wants to hurt her daughter. So why will no-one help? and Why do they want to hurt her?
Single mother Maggie Conner struggles to raise her young daughter, Isabel, in a household ruled by her own abusive father.
Terrified for Isabel’s safety, Maggie realises that neither her cold, distant mother nor anyone else in town seem willing to help them.
Then Isabel starts to disappear for long periods, returning with no idea of where she has been or why.
And when Maggie tries to get outside help, doctors and psychologists seem strangely reluctant to get involved in Isabel’s case.
Is someone threatening them so they’ll stay away?
So, desperate to save her daughter, Maggie searches for answers. But the more she digs, the more she is forced to confront her own secrets which are buried deep in her own past.
As Maggie’s whole world begins to unravel, can she find the strength to face the terrifying truth?
Big Thank you to Netgalley, Theo Baxter, Inkubator Books for my ARC.
Wow was this book intense! I had no idea where it was going but it had my attention the whole time! This was definitely a chilling read and very different from other thrillers I’ve read. I am eager to read more by Theo Baxter!
My first novel I’ve read by Theo Baxter and I have to say I really enjoyed it, You know within the first few chapters that something is not quite right in the Conner household and your left thinking is this real, is Maggie hallucinating but when no one will help her with her daughter your left questioning is it her father bribing people or is there more to it all!
Definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions and quite chilling in parts but you want to carry on reading to find out more. From the blurb I did not think the book was going to take this twist.
An intriguing read into the past trauma experienced by Maggie. I kept wanting to read on to find the truth however did feel that the book was longer than it should've been. Overall enjoyable but quite predictable at times.
New author for me. Extremely pleased and will definitely read other books. This one grabbed me from the start and never let up. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
Maggie is a single mom who is haunted by her past. She does everything in her power to protect her daughter, Isabel. Everyone around her knew she was struggling yet nobody seemed to want to help, except for one person.
I was drawn to this book because of the cover and the description. However, after reading it I feel they may have been a little misleading. I suspected what was going on about half way through, but the author always had me second guessing myself which is what I did like about this book! I believe it was well written, though a little repetitive at times, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting.
Maggie, a single mother living with her daughter and parents…or so it seems. Her father is abusive and no one in town seems willing to help her. While I could not wait to get to the end to find out what was really going on - I do feel it was dragging on a bit and the suspense dies out. Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it and seeing how Maggie develops throughout the story. There is so much emotion - the plot is definitely a good one. I look forward to adding other books from this author to my TBR!
Based on the book blurb, this wasn’t quite what I was expecting. There are twists that may keep some readers interested but I found them a little too easy to guess. Overall it still has an interesting plot, but readers should be aware of content warnings/triggers before reading.
This book is centred around Maggie who is a single Mum who has had a bit of a tragic life. Unfortunately I really really don’t like her despite the life she has lived and think I might have felt sorry for her if every other sentence at the beginning of the book wasn’t along the lines of my child is so weird.
I had a couple of predictions throughout the book but honestly didn’t know which if any of them were going to happen.
The book was very repetitive throughout which was frustrating to read.
From reading the blurb I thought that I would really enjoy this book but unfortunately it just wasn’t for
Wow. I really loved this book. It had me hooked from the start to end!!! It’s such an amazing book! I will for sure be recommending this book!
This thriller is just what you need when you pick up a book - exciting, suspenseful and so fast paced that you can’t wait to turn the page. The characters are relatable and it’s easy to empathise with Maggie’s struggles thanks to the authors vivid descriptions.
A great ending that just blew me away. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher and of course the amazing author for the chance to read this ARC.
Almost immediately I could tell what was going on with Maggie, however, Theo did a good job of making you wonder what exactly happen to get Maggie to where she is during the book. It did seem to drag on a bit the. The end, in turn. Felt rush. The book definitely could use more balance but it definitely intrigued me and kept me reading!
Wow, what a chilling and thrilling read. This book highlights how grief can impact someone to such an extent that their whole being is changed. This book highlights the importance of supporting others through the grief process and putting supports in place surrounding domestic violence.
Thank you NetGalley and Theo Baxter for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my free and voluntary review. This book was spine tingling amazing and gripped my emotions. It definitely reminded me of that movie with Nicole Kidman (not named here). Characters were flawless and I was sad when it ended although the finale was jaw dropping. Love this book and highly recommend.
I enjoyed it, but I will admit that it did feel like there was too much chaos. It was a great story and I loved the idea of it all. I was happy that I was able to guess the going ons, but it was still a great read. Well definitely be reading more of this author!
