I loved my husband, Doctor Drew Devlin , but he betrayed me. And now he’s dead.
As I put the key in the lock and open the door to the luxurious new home I’ve purchased with Drew’s life insurance money, I’m certain the worst days are behind me. My secret is safe, and I can’t wait to enjoy my new wealth and freedom.
Then I meet handsome Roger . I wasn’t looking for a relationship but as we spend our evenings drinking wine on my sunny terrace, I realise he’s just what I need right now. Roger is nothing like Drew, he’s spontaneous and romantic. And most of all, he’s honest.
He thinks I’m a rich, lonely woman . He’s wrong of course, there’s so much more to me…

If you follow me on Goodreads or any of the Facebook reading groups, you would know that I am a fan of Daniel Hurst. The Doctor's Wife is book 2 of The Doctor's Wife series (there is/will be 4 total). In The Doctor's Widow, we continue loving to hate Fern and Alice while also rooting for them in some weird way. The book builds on the previous story and adding more information while creating the current story line as to what both woman are up to now. As always, Hurst sends you in one direction and then adds twists and turns you never saw coming.

Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst, and Hachette UK - Bookouture for the ALC in exchange for my review.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book I was hooked from the very start and couldn't read it fast enough. This is a clever, well thought out, gripping story with twists & turns that made me desperate to reach the conclusion. I am on tenterhooks for the next next book in the series.

I am not sure if this needed a sequel. It was a good ending and i sort was okay with the part 1.
However this is a decent thriller.

This book was brilliant. I didn’t manage to download the audio onto the app in time so brought the book so I could still read it. It was brilliantly written and the twists got me! I’m normally good at guessing but that last one caught me out. Fabulous book!

I tried my best to enjoy this audiobook but I couldn’t get into the story. I think if I read the first book in the series that would have helped. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the Advance Review Copy.

This books was so incredibly good! It picks up after Fern has left Aberness and we follow along for all the terrible, but in her mind, justified decisions she continues to make when she thinks she has gotten away with the unthinkable. I could not stop listening until it was over and now I have no idea what to read next that can come close to reaching this thriller. I don't know how he will top this, but I am on the edge of my seat desperately waiting for December 6th for The Doctor's Mistress to be released and I can know what happens next!

The Doctor’s Widow is the sequel to The Doctor’s Wife. Although this book could be read as a stand alone title, there is definitely some back story that you would miss by only reading the sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book filled with duplicitous characters you will love to hate.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fern has everything she wanted: no more husband, his mistress locked away and plenty of money that's all hers! To top it all up she finds a new lover, Roger.
But of course not everything goes according to plan and life gets a bit out of control for Fern!
and what's best: there is definately more to come!!!! This is what I would call perfect popcorn-entertainment à la Daniel Hurst!
Luke R. Francis, Sarah Durham tell this story in a way a enjoyed a lot

I LOVED The Doctors Wife and was begging in my review for a sequel, so when I saw Daniel Hurst had actually written one, I was over the moon. This was a fantastic follow up. The sequel was full of suspense and a game of cat & mouse just like the first book. I will say I didn't love the ending and epilogue of this one though and just hope it was leading us into the next book. Otherwise. I would be pretty disappointed with the ending. The whole book was so tense and I felt like the ending didn't really match that energy. However, I do think another book will be coming based on the way it was set up and another game of cat & mouse will be played for ultimate revenge. I love these characters and I am not ready to let them go. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Doctor's widow by Daniel Hurst and Narrated by Luke R. Francis and Sarah Durham is the second book in the brilliant The Doctor's Wife series and what a rollover coaster ride this audiobook was. It's a gripping gripping psychological thriller and if you haven't read the first book The Doctor's Wife I highly recommend you do and it will not disappoint,

I highly recommend this book.....Brilliant from start to finish.

The narrators Luke R. Francis and Sarah Durham were brilliant and worked well together.

*****I received this free audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I was fortunate enough to have read The Doctor’s Wife. This second book, The Doctor’s Widow was even better!

Fern is a character you love to hate. She is manipulative and conniving! She is an expert liar. Nobody is safe if they cross her.

I loved how the story continued from the first book. How Fern thinks she has gotten away with murder and can go live a life of luxury. Little does she know people haven’t stopped investigating.

As this was an audiobook I want to mention the narrators did a fantastic job. I enjoy when they switch from female to male perspective chapters that the narrator does as well.

The Doctor’s Widow
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Author: Daniel Hurst

I requested an audio advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Bookouture Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: I loved my husband, Doctor Drew Devlin , but he betrayed me. He’s wrong of course, there’s so much more to me… But then one night, when we’re curled up in bed together, Roger says something that makes my blood run cold. I think he knows the truth about my life as the doctor’s wife. I will do anything to stop my past from catching up with me… But is Roger really who he says he is? Or is my life now in danger?

My Thoughts: This was a great follow up to The Doctor’s Wife. You really need to have read The Doctor’s Wife to be able to follow along the character lineup in this one. We follow the widow, Fern Devlin, as she sets up her new life without her husband in another town. She meets another man, seems to be the man of her dreams. Roger appears to be hiding his own secrets. Then one night in bed, some of the things he says to her makes her believe that he is onto her. What ensues is a dangerous cat and mouse game with her life on the line.

This was narrated in a dual narration by Fern and Roger, in their respective perspectives, with some other narrators, such as Alice and Detective Tomlin, from the first murder. Fern is independent, strong, and reserved on who she trusts. Roger appears to be this great, sexy man, who has just walked into Fern’s life at the right moment. The characters were well developed with mystery, creative, tension, and intriguing. Let’s talk about Fern, she is the absolute villain in this story, where she was the victim in the first story, and while you want to hate her, you learn to love to hate her. She plays the villain character so well. The author’s writing style was complex, suspenseful, twisty, and engaging. Hurst really is a brilliant psychological thriller writer, he knows how and when to deliver the twists, just at the right moment for the ultimate unpredictability. Hurst does not just deliver one plot twist, but does it in deceiving layers that increases the tension and suspense.

This was a great sequel to the first one. The pace and flow is spot on. The ending was a cliffhanger and left the possibility for another, a third book. The narrators were brilliant, they had amazing voice variation, really brought the characters to life off the pages and right into my head. This was an intense compelling, highly addictive psychological thriller that will be hard to put down. I highly recommend picking them both up, both bingable in a short time frame.

I enjoyed this second book more than the first one, The Doctor's Wife, because it's more unpredictable and edge-of-your-seat. It's great that you can read The Doctor's Widow without necessarily reading the first book and still enjoy it as a standalone because all important information related to the first book is explained in the story. I loved the woman narrator but, as a non-native speaker, I found it hard to understand the man narrator unfortunately.
