“Go Lightly” reminds me a lot of Dolly Alderton’s “Ghosts”, which I really liked. The main character, Ada, is bisexual and stuck between two love interests Stuart from Liverpool and Sadie from Perth. I read this book as a romance, but I think it’s better to expect a coming of age story. I struggled to see a romantic connection with either love interest and found Ada’s main character syndrome and her dynamic with her sister much more compelling. If you liked “Ghosts” or less plot more vibes books, I think you’ll like “Go Lightly”, which will be out 4/30/24!

I started reading this book three times, and every time, my brain kept wandering to other things and couldn't focus at all. Conceptually, the story sounds neat, but I'm unfortunately not able to focus on it. The writing isn't gripping or engaging, and it is a lot of inner monologue. It has an audience, for sure, but that isn't me.

Leaving five stars as I never made it past seven pages and it would be unfair to rate.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Perennial for the ARC.

"Go Lightly" is a quirky and witty novel, which easily left me feeling warm and fierce by the end. Lesson learned: We are each two different people- The person we are and the person that we portray to others. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for more of Brydie Lee-Kennedy's work in the future.
