Well this one grabbed me in a chokehold and didn’t let go! Midnight Jones works for a company that profiles individuals and when one comes up with the result of Profile K- for killer- she has to find out what this means. A dark shocking level of violence is about to erupt and is Midnight safe. This was another of my anticipated 2024 reads and I have been spoilt with them so far. Outstanding! Thank you to netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review
A chilling and edge of your seat thriller, so well crafted and sets up every character with just the right amount of suspicion that you don't know who to trust. I devoured it in hours and loved it
As soon as I heard about this book I was dying to get my hands on it. A big thanks to Avon Books UK for the advanced copy to read.
This is one dark and scary serial killer novel. Scary because it could just happen. It starts with a gruesome murder and does not let up. It is quite a graphic story, with lots of details so be sure that you have a strong stomach. This is a very messed up killer.
Our main character Midnight Jones just will not give up. She knows that this man is out there and he is dangerous, and then the murders begin. They are awfully close to home and she knows that he knows her name.
I loved the characters of Dawn and Doris. Such a sweet pair and their friendship was lovely., amongst all the darkness.
Once you get started you won’t want to stop reading. Helen Fields has another winner here. Out on April 25th, you have to read it.
"It was women who called to him now...His world had become one giant menu, and all he had to do was find the dish that was precisely to his taste."
A secret love obsession, a fascination with blood, 'A Clockwork Orange' style therapy and to keep it all up to date some AI! - What's not to like?
Thanks, NetGalley for an advance copy.
He’s going to kill you. He just doesn’t know it yet.
Midnight Jones is an analyst trained to understand the human mind. But everything changes when, in the course of her work, she discovers Profile K’s file – because K stands for killer, and she knows that someone more dangerous than she could have ever imagined walks among them.
Midnight knows what Profile K is capable of before he even commits his first crime. But as the news rolls with the brutal murder of a local woman, no one believes what she tells them: that he is capable of so much worse.
Profile K will kill again – and, terrifyingly, Midnight realises that the moment she found his file was the moment she became his next target. Because Profile K is coming for Midnight – and the only way to escape with her life is to find him before he finds her…
I’d seen this book a lot and had planned to buy it but when I saw it on netgalley I jumped at the chance to read it.
The book is very dark, gory and twisted throughout. The story had me absolutely pulled in to the murder and mystery and had me completely wracking my brains as to who the murderer was. I did expect a bit more of a twist if I’m honest but the book was creepy and well written and had me 100% hooked.
Highly recommend.
Another cracking book from Helen Fields, so full of intrigue and mystery and the gruesomeness that we have come to expect from her. Twists I didn't expect and fantastic characters.....all in all just brill 💗
Midnight Jones works as an analyst at Necto, reviewing profiles. One day at work she comes across a profile known as a Profile K, determined to find out what this means, Midnight digs deeper. She has no idea the danger she is putting herself in.
This is my first Helen Fields book and as a regular thriller reader, I devoured it. The characters were fantastic, especially Midnight. I admired her integrity to do what others wouldn't. I would love to read more about Midnight in further books relating to her new job with Dr Woolwine.
I would happily recommend this book to others and gave it 4 stars.
Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley who allowed me to read this advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
Wowza - hold on tight and make no plans, you will not stop until the last page and it will leave you breathless! Taught and creative thriller, echos of Minority Report or Manchurain Candidate as corporate greed, control, manipulation, and brainwashing pound through ethical boundaries and don't tolerate ethics or dissention. And through it all, the strength of love and found family holds strong - Quite the ride
Wow Wow Wow!!! I finished this book 2 days ago and still am gathering my thoughts to write a review. Actually Wow would be the perfect review. This is a new author for me and now I MUST check out her other works.
This book is intense. So intense it grabs you and doesn't let go. I literally had to come up for air and step away because my stress level was so high! It is dark, gory, but also relatable. The chracters were fantastic. Very 3 dimensional and easily liked. It is written from different POVs including the killer's. This is by far the best book I've read this year and tied for the best book I've ever read. Call it a psychological thriller with a twist. I loved the characters of Dawn and Doris. I'd love to have my own Doris! I've debated how much to say about the book, and it's difficult to say much without spoiling the entire plot. I will say get your hands on it and read it. Now.
Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I highly highly without a doubt recommend this book.

This is my fifth Helen Sara Fields novel. My first was "The Shadow Man"; after reading it my comment was~
I definitely will read another ~ which I did; and was was drawn to this story because of the author.
Story opens with the gruesome murder of Chloe Martin. The story is so descriptive, you feel as though you are there witnessing her terror yet are paralyzed to help. While Chloe is being killed a cheerful message from her sister and three-year old niece Vivienne can be heard via VM. They are excited about Chloe coming to celebrate birthday!
Our protagonist Midnight Jones is a care giver to her twin sister Dawn who is disabled. Midnight works at Necto Corporation in London, a biotech company working on the human mind. Midnight is an analyst who collects data, profiling applicants through their brain scan reactions. However, in the course of her work, she discovers something terrible - Profile K’s file – K – killer. , It appears Necto is hiding something. Midnight as well as we readers soon realizes- Profile K, a psychopath, a killer. Midnight also knows that finding this has put her in danger and she just may be the next target.
This story is indeed a page turner only I found myself saying – Wait a minute and had to reread what I just read.
Definitely a dark crime story and yes one I couldn’t put down however not sure enjoyable is a word to describe it but WOW certain is!
I was looking forward to reading the author’s mote and/or Acknowledgments as I was curious as to the motivation as well as the research that went into the story.
I highly recommend reading it!
Want to thank NetGalley and Avon Books UK - Avon for this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for April 25, 2024
Helen Fields has done it again, producing another masterpiece that had me gripped from the start! This book is very dark in places, with excellent twists and turns along the way. A wonderful psychological thriller that's not for the fainthearted.
Another humdinger of a book from Helen Fields! I'm glad I don't have to live with the brain that thinks up ideas like this in my head. On the other hand I'm very glad Helen does. This is a very gory book and not for the faint hearted but, if you like that kind of thing it's definitely a book not to be missed. A clever storyline with a very clever ending. It's 5* from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own
OMG this is the best thriller I have read in a long time and with a completely unique story that kept me awake half the night mainly because I just couldn’t put it down and only gave in when my eyes wouldn’t stay open any longer and I had checked all my doors were locked !
I always love Helen Fields books but this one is super special and kept me guessing right until the thrilling and deeply satisfying conclusion.
Be prepared this is a gruesome read with a spine-chilling perpetrator that gave me big time chills and that’s all down to the fabulous writing by the superbly talented Helen, she really does know exactly how to write a riveting story.
So a wonderfully crafted book with some excellent characters (I especially loved the inclusion of Connie Woolwine from previous books) a read that is certainly going to be a massive success and one I would highly recommend and it really is one not to be missed.and deserves more than the 5 stars I can give.
My thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Wow! The storyline was so very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

But everything changes when, in the course of her work, she discovers Profile K’s file because K stands for killer, and she knows that someone more dangerous than she could have ever imagined walks among them! As she starts to investigate, without her works knowledge, she realizes that maybe they know more about profile K than they're letting on!
Wow wow wow!! This book was just crazy when you really think about it! The storyline was so very interesting! This was such a fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
I have been anxiously awaiting approval from NetGalley for this new Helen Fields title and I dived straight in! Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for my advanced copy. This book has all my very elements for a juicy crime serial killer read and it did not disappoint with a head spinning ending!
Midnight Jones works as a profiler at a trendy biotech company who assesses people’s applications for education and employment when she stumbles upon a “profile k” which she has never encountered before. After some digging she uncovers what the applicant must have watched for the computer to generate this response. The content is inhumane and degrading and a disturbed midnight struggles what to do with the information. She seems to think maybe her company is hiding something when no one seems to take her seriously.
Profile K is a serial killer crime thriller and we are only introduced to the killer as “the applicant” his crimes are horrific, torturous and tragic and all occurring close to where Midnight lives with her disabled twin sister Dawn.
Wow! This book is brilliant and extremely disturbing to read. A worrying insight into how profiling can go badly wrong if handled incorrectly. I absolutely loved it and finished in one weekend as I couldn't put it down.
“Midnight Jones was not just a potential irritation, she was a genuine threat. Every time he thought about something else, there she was, hovering in the periphery of his mind. An irritating fly.
Flies, of course, needed squashing”
A cat and mouse serial killer thriller, Profile K, is a fast paced page turner! It had my pulse racing at points and some good twists along the way, too.
There were plenty of likeable characters. I really got behind Midnight and loved her relationship with her sister. Doris was my favourite though, absolutely adorable!
I chose to read this after John Marrs recommended it and I’m pleased I did.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for my advanced copy.
I was lucky enough to read an arc via NetGalley. I saw Helen Fields listed as author, didnt bother to read the title or the synopsis, just new it would be a great read. And Profile K did not dissapoint. I really liked Midnight, the struggle with juggling the care for her sister and managing a demanding job, while in the meantime solving a murder mystery.
The other characters were a bit lacking for me, Jennifer played a huge part in the story but came across as a side character. And with the other DI-characters Fields previously written about in mind, DI Ruskin felt a bit like a let-down.
But all in all I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner. Solid 4 stars for me.
We’re asked for honest review.
I have read several of Helens books and enjoyed them all
Unfortunately, having tried several times to “get into” this book, I can’t
Don’t want to say anything negative, Helen is an excellent writer.
I just don’t think this one was for me.
