I liked this even more than the first book. I think the romance in this book was so much better, the tension and slow burn had me good. The world building was also more understandable. I think the Serce povs really helped me understand how the current world came to be. At times this was slow paced but I enjoyed reading, I really like the side characters specifically Nadir and Lor’s siblings and inner circle. I’m definitely still curious to see how everything is going to tie together and waiting for Nadir and Lor to finally be together lol. The quests, intrigue and sexy times were very well done and had me hooked, That ending though, I need the next book in this series ASAP!
Read for:
- Faes
- Hidden powers and magic
- Slow burn
- Dual pov
- Past and present timelines
- Diversity
- Enemies to lovers
- Family connection
It is very "A Court of Mists and Fury," in that comfortable and familiar way. Good for Sarah J. Maas fans. It is nothing groundbreaking, but it’s not supposed to be.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this sequel! Slow burn, tons of intrigue and easy light world building. I’m loving Nadir and Lor and can’t wait to keep reading the series next year when book 3 pubs!!
So thankful to forever pub, NetGalley and Nishi for the gifted copy to read and review.
This was the ACOMAF to the Sun Queen’s ACOTAR. SOOOOO much more into this now that we have a likeable, non-blond love interest. I’m not a fan of how this one ended though; it always feels a bit lazy to me when books feel like they were split by some arbitrary chapter. I really liked the unraveling of Lor’s identity, as well as a realistic (in my opinion) of PTSD. I am chomping at the bit to see what’s happening next!
3 1/2 stars!!
This is a series that must be read in order as this book pick up where the first book left off. Atlas placed Lor in his prison but if Nadir has any say in it, she won't be there long. Lor trust no one and suspect that Nadir wants her for her magic but she's keeping her own secrets locked up tight. However, we learn a lot regarding Lor's and Nadir's family, and the history between the two families that's leading up to their current situation. There's still a lot of unanswered questions that I sure will be revealed in the next book, but I do think that this story could have been completed in three books instead of four but that's just my opinion. This story dragged in a few places. but the suspense and anticipation between the characters made up for it. There were times when I wanted to grab Lor and shake her for her actions because they were childish more than a few times. I'm also getting tired of the back and forth between her and Nadir. I wish she would make up her mind to either be with him or not. There were definitely some steamy moments between the two of them and I'm hoping for more. This story ends with a huge cliffhanger and now that the king knows who Lor is and who she is with, he's determined to destroy them at all costs, family or not. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series but I'm hoping it doesn't drag. This story has adventure, mystery, suspense, revenge, betrayal and more.
"Rule of the Aurora King" by Nisha J. Tuli sounds like an exciting and enchanting addition to the world of fantasy literature. This description hints at a story filled with intrigue, magic, and complex characters.
The protagonist, Lor, appears to be a strong-willed and resilient character, determined to protect her secrets and her independence. Her refusal to be anyone's conquest or possession sets an empowering tone for the story.
The dynamic between Lor and Nadir, the Aurora Prince, promises to be intriguing. Their partnership, despite initial distrust, suggests a compelling blend of cooperation, conflict, and perhaps even romance. Their quest to find a lost item tied to Lor's past and future adds a mysterious and adventurous element to the narrative.
The overarching conflict involving the Sun King and the Aurora King hints at a grand and epic battle that will likely shape the destiny of the fantastical realm of Ouranos. This conflict adds a layer of high stakes and suspense to the story, making it an engaging read for fans of epic fantasy.
Furthermore, the theme of self-discovery and the quest for one's identity is a powerful and relatable theme that can resonate with readers. Lor's journey to understand her past and her role in the fate of Ouranos adds depth to the story beyond the action and adventure.
Overall, "Rule of the Aurora King" appears to be a captivating fantasy novel that combines elements of adventure, magic, and self-discovery. It promises to transport readers to a richly imagined world filled with intrigue and wonder.
This book is definitely not suffering from second-book syndrome...I enjoyed this one so much more than book 1(which I still loved)
The banter, enemies to lovers, the tension, the plot, and just everything in between was absolute perfection.
I'm just going to be sitting her waiting for book 3 as patiently as possible.
