Remember how much harder ACOMAF slapped than ACOTAR? That’s how this book was to its first. HONEYYY. Nisha didn’t have to go as hard as she did on that steamy tension but she did, fam. She did it for us readers. 🥹
This book picks up pretty much after the fiasco that happened in book 1. Lor discovers Nadir, Aurora Prince and alphahole, has taken her in and is hiding her from not only the Sun King - but his dad too, the Aurora King.
Lor comes clean about her heritage, kinda. But only after Nadir and his gang rescue her siblings who were stuck in the prison. I shall NOT say what the big reveal was, but it was hinted at throughout and I was hype when it was confirmed.
So now Lor and Nadir must work together to try to and find a certain relic to take down a certain king… 👀
The steam was dialed up, and while we didn’t get to home base - I ain’t even mad. What we got was a five star chef’s rendition of THE PERFECT APPETIZER. The forced proximity and fake dating tropes were excellent ingredients added to this soup pot of romancy goodness and left me satisfied but also at the same time I’m over here ON MY KNEES beggin’ for the next book. 🤣🫠
THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD! It’s so fun, it’s adventurous, easy to follow and understand. It makes you laugh, swoon, rage, and I couldn’t put it down. Every romantacy reader NEEDS to read this series.
There's something about the second book in a series... It either falls flat, running short of the excitement of the debut, or it makes the first book look like a fun opener for the main event (the second book).
Rule of the Aurora King is the second kind of sequel. I read this book in less than 24 hours on a holiday. I couldn't stop. The tension between the romantic leads is spectacular and despite the plot moving slower than the first book, you still feel fully involved and engaged in the story.
The characters that seem a bit hollow in the first book are intentionally and satisfactorily fleshed out. The main character is still keeping secrets from the reader (which I LOVE). The descriptions of the locations are so vivid and unique. I am literally so excited to read the remainder of this series. Way to go, Nisha.
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for this honest review!
I was much more into book one and felt this one fell a little more flat for me. I wanted a bit more and didn't quite feel the development I was expecting
A beautiful sequel and now I really want the third book already. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this. I definitely will be waiting anxiously for the next one. Tuli's ability to go through and create these worlds that are gripping and intoxicating for the readers, I feel like that I am right there with them and wanting things to go faster!
This book was EVEN BETTER than book 1 if that is even possible. This series is perfect for fans of the plated prisoner series! This is a dark fae fantasy romance that follows the story of an imprisoned woman who longs to escape her cage, it has everything! A fast placed plot with high stakes, lush worldbuilding, a slowburn enemies to lovers romance and deadly trials.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Welcome back to Ouranos in The Rule of the Aurora King! We find Lor making the most unsavory of alliances with the son of the Fae King who ruined her life. With Lor’s help, Nadir is hoping to end his father’s reign. But, as they begin working together, they cannot but help to be drawn to one another. Perfect for fans of SJM, and those looking for a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers.
“To every woman who’s been told they’re too wild. Too impulsive. Too much. May you always stay that way.” I mean the book dedication alone is *chef's kiss*.
This book did seem to move at a bit of a slower pace than the first book in the series, but I am still anxiously awaiting for book 3, The Fate of the Sun King, coming out June 4, 2024!

A heartfelt thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Forever Publishing for a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review!
The Sun Trials had a hunger games type trope while the rule of the aurora king was all enemies to lovers and a quest to find something! I definitely preferred the former! The constant back and forth was exhausting and predictable. Now, that doesn’t mean I won’t read a third one bc I have to know what happens to Lor and her family! I could care less about the romantic relationship with her Nadir. So many red flags! There is a a dual timeline that gives the heart queens backstory. I could have done with a little less than that but I’m guessing it will be important for the next book.
Rating - 4.5 stars
Spice - 3
This is book 2 of Trial of the Sun Queen, and while I devoured Trial of the Sun Queen in roughly 2 sittings, this book was somehow even better! It picks up right where book 1 leaves off, and you follow along with Lor's internal battle of 'trusting' the Aurora Prince Nadir while looking for the crown of Heart.
This book has a bit of everything trope wise; enemies to lovers, forced proximity, one bed, dual POV, he falls first, touch her and you die.
I simply adore Nadir and Lor's dynamics, and I love having the dual POV to really see into each character more throughout the storyline. Nadir goes from a somewhat hidden/hated figure in book 1 to being such a soft and empathetic character that grows on you. Spice scenes in this one are picked up I will say, but not over the top.
Another aspect of this book I really enjoyed was getting to see a bit more of the backstory of the Serce and Wolf. This helps tie up some loose ends you really don't know much about in book 1 and see more of some of the history of the past rulers. Book 2 ends with a mild cliffhanger, definitely making me curious for more.
Overall, very excited to continue the series and can't wait to read more! Definitely recommend.
Just like I hoped, this one is SO much better than the first book! It still was missing some meat, but we finally get some holes from the plot line filled that was missing in the first book. I can’t wait to see what happens in the third book!
I enjoyed this follow up more than the first book in the series and think it was a good follow-up and sets up the final installment well. However like the first book, it falls a little flat to me just because like so many romantasy books it just feels like a regurgitation of the same ACOMAF story structure and characters over and over again. Not really a critique of the author, that's what is popular right now, but more of just a general complaint about romantasy right now.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the chance to read. Opinions are my own.
"Rule of the Aurora King" by Nisha J. Tuli is the thrilling second installment in the "Artefacts of Ouranos" series, a captivating blend of romance and fantasy that continues to explore the richly crafted world of Ouranos.
In this installment, we follow Lor, who has managed to escape the clutches of the Sun King and now finds herself in the care of Nadir, the Aurora Prince. Lor is a strong-willed character who values her independence and is determined to keep her secrets hidden. Nadir, on the other hand, is convinced that Lor is withholding valuable information and is willing to go to great lengths to uncover the truth.
The dynamic between Lor and Nadir is a central focus of the story, and it's filled with tension, intrigue, and undeniable chemistry. Lor's reluctance to trust another royal fae after her past experiences adds depth to her character, and readers will root for her as she navigates this complex relationship.
As the story unfolds, Lor and Nadir embark on a quest to find a lost item that holds the key to Lor's past and the fate of Ouranos. The plot is filled with twists and turns, keeping readers engaged and eager to uncover the mysteries of this fantastical world.
Nisha J. Tuli's writing is vivid and immersive, bringing the world of Ouranos to life with its enchanting landscapes and magical creatures. The author excels at creating a sense of wonder and awe, making it easy for readers to get lost in this fantastical realm.
"Rule of the Aurora King" not only continues the story of Lor and Nadir but also delves deeper into the political intrigue and power struggles within the world of Ouranos. It raises questions about trust, loyalty, and the true nature of power.
Overall, "Rule of the Aurora King" is a captivating addition to the "Artefacts of Ouranos" series, offering a perfect blend of romance and fantasy. It will appeal to readers who enjoy immersive world-building, complex characters, and stories filled with magic and adventure. This book leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series as it promises even more enchanting twists and revelations.
This was an excellent follow up to Trial of the Sun Queen. We get plenty more Nadir which is something I really wanted in the last book! I also really enjoyed the new POV we got! While overall it was a little predictable, I really enjoyed that because it checks all the boxes that I want in a romantasy!
Thanks netgalley and forever publishing for letting me review this book!
This sequel alternates between two timelines, that of the last queen of heart-Serce, and her scrappy descendent, Lor- recently liberated from the sun queen trials by the aurora prince (son of her mortal enemy). The story of the fall of heart is intertwined with Lor's trials to try to regain her powers and her birth right, while falling into a tempestous relationship with the prince.
The spice was spicing in this sequel. Good god. I love a good enemies to lovers and these were ding dang mortal enemies. Some if the plot seemed a little thin/recycled to me in both timelines, im not sure if that im not just reading too many romantasies, i thought there was enough to it to keep me going. And the aforementioned spice is definitely worth it. I always was glad that Lor got to grow as a character-her self realization about years of only being in survival mode was really poignant. Excited to read on.
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
The second book in the series, you must read the first in order to dive into this one.
So I won't say much because of spoilers but if you love morally ambiguous alpha heroes, bad ass FMC, fae, twists and turns, dual plot lines, hidden identities, fated mates and cliffhangers, this is a must read. I cannot be more hyped for the next book in the series.

“The thought was nice, I guess. Even if it’s a little murderous.”
Oh this one made me laugh, it made me pine, and it took me on an adventure! Book two following Trials of the Sun Queen, we follow Lor and Nadir again on many adventures in The Aurora. Lies, deception, magic, spice. This was such a fun ride and I flew through it - I can’t wait for book 3 next summer!
A great romantasy selection with digestible world building, a delightful cast of characters and laughs. Check this one out!
Thanks to Forever and Netgalley for this ARC. My opinions are my own.
This was… disappointing. The first book in this series had a really good premise and lots of action mixed with romance that made it all in all enjoyable while also being familiar and a little predictable. This second installment was just… boring. 80% of the book was just filler to give our two love interests some smexy time, and those scenes weren’t even that good to top it off. Another gripe I have is that our MC doesn’t even feel like the same person. She went from 🥺 small, naive, kindred spirit to -> 😠 xtra hard, trust no one, I hate you but I’m gonna keep giving you so many mixed signals and act like I’m totally not confusing the sh*t out of everyone. It wasn’t even admirable at this point for her to try and be her own person when she keeps going back on literally everything she’s saying (regarding one person in particular). Not sure if I’ll read the third installment as this one left me needing a palette cleanser. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
Rule of the Aurora King is book two in the Artefacts of Ouranos Series by Nisha J. Tuli.
I enjoyed the first book. And the second was no different.
I love her writing. And the world-building and storytelling is phenomenal.
Another amazing title in a phenomenal series.

Thank You NetGalley and Forever for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Thank you Netgalley and Forever (GCP) for the ARC!
If you’re into romantasy, Fae, enemies to lovers and action then you’ll definitely love this series! This second book in the series ups the romance a bit which is what I want and need in my fantasy romance series, so happy camper right here! I’m so excited for the next book in the series, the wait will be brutal!
If you like ACOTAR or Fourth Wing, this is another fantastic romantasy series that I think you will love!
First, I have to say that when I devour a book this quickly, I have a really hard time writing a coherent review. Like, I was completely bought in to Lor’s emotional journey, the romance, and all the twists we found out! Lor is an independent queen and will not accept an alpha-hole acting like she belongs to him, or anyone. And I love her for it!
My one critique is that some of the plot mirrored ACOMAF a little too closely? And involved people running around looking for *something* (is it a spoiler to say that it involves an Artefact, since that is what the series is called? Hope not.) which is for some reason something I hate in fantasy. Like, whether it’s one chapter or 10, if they are running around the woods I just lose interest. But that is really popular in fantasy so it’s very much a personal problem, and doesn’t stop me from loving the rest of the book.
I literally don’t know how else to talk about this book without spoiling something, but just know that I can’t wait until June when Book 3 comes out!!! I will be stalking Netgalley for it to go up!
My goodreads review had some spoiler-y thoughts if you’re interested.
Sequels aren’t always as good as the first book in a series but this one might have been even better than book 1! I loved the enemies to lovers storyline as well as how the overall plot progressed. I’ll definitely be reading book 3!
