The Great Gatsby is my favourite book, so I was very excited when I saw a new illustrated edition is being published. Sometimes an illustrated version can bring new life to the story, unfortunately this one just didn't do that for me.

I love a classic book and I haven't read this book since high school. I loved this book and I loved the illustrations. Can't wait to see it as a printed copy.

All opinions are my own!!

I don't have personal likes or preferences, but I can certainly tell you what many people appreciate about when I read "The Great Gatsby." One notable aspect is F. Scott Fitzgerald's evocative writing style. His use of vivid descriptions and symbolism helps paint a detailed picture of the 1920s era, its social dynamics, and the characters' emotions.

The exploration of the American Dream and its illusionary nature also resonates with readers. The characters' pursuit of happiness through wealth and social status highlights the emptiness that can accompany material success, offering a thought-provoking commentary on society's values.

Furthermore, the characters themselves are complex and flawed, making them relatable and human. Jay Gatsby's enigmatic nature and his unrequited love for Daisy, as well as Nick Carraway's internal struggles as he navigates this world, provide a sense of depth that draws readers in.

Overall, "The Great Gatsby" is praised for its exploration of timeless themes, its vivid portrayal of an era, and its complex characters, which combine to create a compelling and enduring literary work.

I last read The Great Gatsby 35 years ago, and the green light has stayed on my mind since then. I was long overdue for a second reading, and chose this new illustrated version the moment I saw it pop up on NetGalley.

What can be said about Fitzgerald’s work has already been said with eloquence over the years. What’s new here is the artwork. Robert Nippoldt’s illustrations vividly capture the timeless glamour of Gatsby. The color palate is judiciously simple, and the elegant art doesn’t disappoint the images I’d already created in my mind. It looks great in a digital format, yet I’m positive that a physical copy would far outshine its appearance on screen tech. I can’t wait to see it in print.

Perfection.

I voluntarily requested and received a digital ARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing via Netgalley.

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this stunning illustrated edition of "The Great Gatsby" in exchange for an honest review.

Set in New York in the 1920s, "The Great Gatsby" is the story of young millionaire Jay Gatsby, his pursuit of the beautiful and wealthy Daisy Buchanan, and the lavish parties he hosts. The book is told from the point of view of Nick Carraway, Daisy's cousin. Nick moves to New York after World War I to pursue a career in bonds and finds himself living next door to Jay's mansion and across the water from Daisy and her husband, Tom. Every night, Gatsby entertains New York's high society, looking for fun and distractions to hide the deep longing for the woman just out of his reach.

"The Great Gatsby" is a classic and has often been referred to as the Great American Novel. This special edition features the illustrations of Robert Nippoldt. The Art Deco style designs stay true to the style and time of the novel and really make the story and characters come alive. At the end of the book, the publisher includes information about the supplements designed exclusively for this edition to document the spirit of the Roaring Twenties, including maps and fold-out pages elaborately designed by Nippoldt. This incredible edition is a must-have for collectors and book lovers alike!

Forever one of my favorite classics I've read. The symbolism in it is so interesting to dissect, and you get this phenomenally painted portrait of life in the 1920's, and the differences between new and old money. The drama of a modern story, but the imagery and lifestyle of 100 years ago combine for a very memorable tale
