This book hit the spot if you want a quick, cute read. Best Frenemies was my first Max Monroe book, and I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if I had read some of their others first. For those who have read their other books, you will get to catch up with a lot of characters from past novels.

At first I really didn't like either Katy or Mack. Katy was way too uptight, even with her friends, so it was hard to see a more fun side of her. Mack on the other hand was too fun and laid back, which I didn't think I would mind, but became obnoxious when he was still carefree while others were in distress. Fortunately, they did eventually rub off on each other a bit and both became more likable, but these definitely weren't my favorite characters.

Overall, this book did make me laugh out loud several times (particularly that ER scene), and I found myself smiling at some of the cute moments between Katy and Mack. I also loved how all the kids were portrayed, so if you're a big kid-person then you'll love the kiddos in this book. Even though the story didn't particularly click with me, I think it might for some other people. So if you like Max Monroe's other books or quick rom coms, then I would definitely give this a shot.

Once again Max Monroe gives a great story. While a bit predictable for me, it was still a great read. Seeing many of our favorites from lots of their others books was a great added bonus. The witty banter between Mack and Katy kept me giggling and a few odd looks from the hubby. Definitely a great, light easy read which is exactly what I want and expect when I pick up a Max Monroe book. Well done ladies!!

I’m a fan of Max Monroe - these ladies sure know how to write a fantastic romcom! They’re a dream co-writing team!! I need to carve out a lot more time to read their entire catalogue…

I adored Accidental Attachment and love the little bit of overlap these two books have - they’re completely standalone books, but the characters from the first book do appear and are mentioned, so it’s good to have their background, ie reading Brooke’s books and her coming to Career Day at the school.

Katy and Mack and their enemies or rivals relationship as teachers is really fun, and when they both fly out of town to Florida to enjoy spring break at their coworker’s family condo, a booking error by the rental company has the pair having to share the place, so now they end up paired up having to plan career day and spend spring break together - all while they can’t stand being in each other’s company!

It was such a great read that I devoured it so quickly, having to know how everything turned out! Absolutely, completely and totally recommend this to everyone! Whether you’ve read Max Monroe’s books before or not - this would be a great place to start.

I received an advance copy from the authors and NetGalley, and this is my honest feedback.

Tight-laced Katy planned a relaxing beach vacation of wine and fun. The last person she expected to see was Mack, her infuriatingly charming work nemesis. Due to a cruel booking mistake, she's stuck sharing a vacation rental for a week with the laidback music teacher with no concept of boundaries. Katy fears impending the chaos. Worse, she's tempted to discover if Mack's lips are as kissable as they seem.

This is a smart, sensual opposites-attract rom com. It includes a couple of embarrassing situations involving accidental nudity. I enjoyed how the characters evolved over the course of the story.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This was a fun, easy read filled with banter and some smexy times. In all honesty & transparency I didn't love or hate the two main characters. I felt very neutral towards both. My feelings for both characters and the book as a whole was it just felt like a very middle of the road read and quite predictable.

Overall I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend to someone looking for a light read.

An enemies-to-lovers romance!

Although I liked Mack and Katy well enough ... I just didn't love them. I liked the storyline and think it's cute but I just found the banter unrealistic especially when the four guys are talking about romance book ... I highly doubt it. But the steam is off the charts! I have liked this author's books in the past ... this one just wasn't for me.

Mack and Katy are teachers in the same school and they don't get along at all. When the vacation rental gets double booked, Mack and Katy find themselves sharing accommodations. They find that all of a sudden they are attracted to one another and why not have a vacation fling.

I received an early copy courtesy of the author through NetGalley.

Omg this book was so stinkin' adorable! I mean, it's also 100% laugh-out-loud hilarious, but the plot in itself was just so sweet!

Katy was an ambitious and confident FMC, whose only real "rival" in life was Mack, the MMC. Her only real disdain for him came from the fact that he taught the rowdy music class that was next to her math class. Sure, she was frustrating at times, as are all FMCs when they're fighting their feelings for the MMC in an enemies-to-lovers romance, but it wasn't dragged out unnecessarily. Mack certainly took great pleasure out of annoying the heck out of Katy, but he was never disrespectful or hurtful and was generous to a fault, even when she was exasperated with him. The hospital scene was absolutely hilarious, as was the trench coat scene.

"Katy-Cat" and "Big Mack" delivered a wonderful enemies-to-lovers meets forced-proximity romance. But, it didn't stop there. Katy's character development was a significant part of the story. She went from making assumptions about Mack to taking the time to know him better and admire his better qualities.

If you're looking for a fun, easy-to-read Summer Romance, this is it! The writing is impeccable, the characters are lovable and the plot is simple, yet hilarious and sweet.

☀️REVIEW • BEST FRENEMIES • MAX MONROE ☀️

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥
VERSION: 🎧

I love a good frenemies to lovers romance and this one did not disappoint. Max Monroe have such a fun writing style and this book was chocked full of witty banter, steamy scenes, laugh out loud funny parts and a couple of surprises.

I listened to this on audio, and I think I enjoyed it even more because of that. CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese really did a great job bringing Katy and Mack to life. If you can listen to this one, I highly recommend, because the narrators bring such expression and personality to the funnier bits of this book.

Mack and Katy are teachers at the same school and have never seen eye-to-eye. So when a mix up leaves them as temporary roommates for their spring break getaway, they are forced to see each other a bit differently. I love a type A girl who falls for the mellow go-with-the-flow guy, and that was Katy and Mack to a tee. Katy is wound tight as a top, and I enjoyed seeing her loosen up and enjoy things. Mack is precious. He’s a bit like a ray of sunshine that just wants to make people happy, and will make the best of any situation.

The banter between them was top notch, and I was rooting for them the whole time with every bit of progress they made, and every flirtatious exchange. The steam and chemistry between them also sparked off the page.

So if you like enemies to lovers, forced proximity, opposites attract with great spice and a swoon-worthy HEA, definitely read this book. But PS, Max Monroe, if you are throwing in extra tropes, a little bit of warning next time please 😜 let’s leave the surprise just for Katy and Mack!

Recommend! And definitely 5/5 for the narrator performance!

Thanks Rick and Max Monroe for the ARC of this book. My review is my own and completely voluntary.

When I started reading Best Frenemies it gave me Déjà vu. Then I realized that Max Monroe had taken the novella April Fools from the 2021 A Year of Love anthology and expanded it to a full-length novel, just like they said they would. It made this book even more rewarding for me to read because I loved that novella when I read it. I got the more I wanted and needed for this couple and the more kept a smile on my face.

Katy and Mack's romance was hilarious. Katy hates Mack due to some differences of opinion at work, but Mack has no problem with Katy. He's determined to change her mind about him when they accidentally end up sharing a vacation rental. Katy's a control freak and Mack is a go with the flow type of person. Their conflicts made things highly entertaining. The banter between them was fun and showed off what great chemistry they had. I loved how they came to understand their personality differences and work together - in both professional and intimate parts of their lives. I also loved how Mack pushed Katy out of her comfort zone, especially when she needed it. Their romance was really fun time. I adored them together.

Best Frenemies was exactly what I've come to expect from Max Monroe. It was funny, sweet, swoon worthy, and had a touch of Thatch and friends. For those who have read Accidental Attachment, you will be excited to hear characters from that book also make an appearance. This was a great romantic comedy to relax with. I'm excited to hear the next book will be about Sammy and Noah.

This is a hard review for me to write. I absolutely adored "The Redo," easily one of my favorite reads of the year.
However, I couldn't get into the story and start caring about the characters.
Katy is too bitchy and makes an enemy of Mack out of nothing. He didn't do anything to warrant her clipped responses and snarky behavior.
Oooh, his class is too noisy, so let's hate him because it's so easy to control two dozen children into being perfectly silent.
Mack was too forgiving and way too much of a simp for her. It was cute, but it quickly got annoying.

Overall, the story wasn't bad, but for me, it missed the mark.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Enemies to friends to lovers ✔️
Co-workers ✔️
Opposites attract ✔️
Close proximity ✔️
Vacation tryst ✔️
Teacher romance ✔️

Best Frenemies is a hilarious teacher rom-com as only Max Monroe can do. Their signature style, humor & heart is woven throughout this story. And the guest appearances from Thatch, Wes, Kline & Cap from The Billionaire Bad Boys series AND Brooke Baker from Accidental Attachment was such a fun & welcome surprise.

Katy is a type A, tightly wound math teacher who shares a classroom wall with Mack Houston, the relaxed and easy going music teacher whom everyone but Katy likes. Katy has disliked everything about Mack from the moment they met. So when Katy finds herself unexpectedly sharing a Florida condo with Mack on spring break her dislike of him intensifies. One hysterical trip to the ER later and Katy begins to see Mack’s big heart and natural ease as a positive rather than a negative. But is Katy enough to keep the good time, dirty talking Mack around for good?

I absolutely loved this book! It was jam packed full of heart, heat, dirty talk, a grand gesture and a beautiful HEA. The Billionaire Bad Boys with Mack were some of my favorite scenes. You can never go wrong with a Max Monroe book and this one did not disappoint.

Thanks to Max Monroe and NetGalley for this ARC opportunity.

I adored Mack and Katy’s story. Best Frenemies was the perfect low-angst, highly entertaining, laugh-out-loud read.

If there’s a swooniest book boyfriend award, someone needs to tell me so I can nominate Mack. He was caring and sweet, even when it wasn’t necessarily "wanted. He nailed all aspects of the perfect book boyfriend checklist...

✔ Swoony
✔ Alpha
✔ Caveman
✔ Dirty Talk

Katy keeps everything in its place; she thrives when everything around her goes the way she planned, so when she ends up on vacation with her archnemesis, to say she wasn’t thrilled would be a gross understatement. Mack was exactly what she needed; he brought a little chaos into her life while also offering a sense of safety and security that she didn’t realize she was missing. They were made for each other.

Katy and Mack’s chemistry was the simmering force behind their frenemies status. I loved the banter between them. It was entertaining, but it also seemed to fan the flames of the connection they shared. I’m not sure there’s a woman alive (fictional or not) who could resist the swoony alpha caveman that is Mack.

Best Frenemies is low-angst with lots of witty banter, laughs, swoon, and steam. If you add in a certain group of billionaires, you can multiply the number of laughs and add a few eye rolls... because Thatch.

If you are looking for a fun and engaging story to escape reality, Best Frenemies is vacation, frenemies to lovers, forced proximity perfection. An unputdownable blend of impassioned chemistry, a swoony hero, a sassy heroine, teeming with humor, witty banter, and steam.

Best Frenemies is about two coworkers who couldn't possibly be more different. There is a mixup in vaction plans that forces the two main characters to spend time together. The novel is a little slow in the beginnng but once it picks up; sparks ignite. If you have read some of Max Monroe's previous novels, you will be happy to see some familar faces throught the story.

When Katy finds out that the inconsiderate playboy teacher Mack who is the bain of her work life is now her roommate on vacation she discovers a completely different side to him. He has always been attracted to her, but as she couldn’t stand him, he enjoyed winding her up any way he could. When she needs help on vacation he shows her that he is actually a caring, attentive and kind person. She lets him see that here is more to her than the uptight teacher he is used to seeing (painkillers are involved). There is lots of fun in this story along with a lot of heat. Both characters bring out the best in each other, when they get past being enemies. I loved seeing old friends reappearing.

I have to admit: I very nearly DNF'd this early on after the main characters' first couple of interactions. It had the potential to descend into excessively cringeworthy drama and I was not in the mood. However, a few more pages and both characters began to show some of the rational thought that I was so concerned would be absent and from there it improved. Katy and Mack are opposites, and the reasons for their wildly differing outlooks are well depicted as their relationship develops. There are also appearances by several characters from previous Max Monroe books (although it does get a bit weirdly meta at one stage). However, the whole story didn't quite work for me in the same way as the previous book, Accidental Attachment - but if you're looking for humour, steam, and some interesting character development between two frenemies, this is worth a look.

This has been such a lovely read!

It's the story of Mack and Katy, two young teachers who can't get along but who secretly have a tiny thing for each other. Forced to spend their time together in their vacation rental, the immature man seems to be quite caring and reliable and the always in control woman learns to let go and enjoy the ride.

This was a very well written book, both characters are likeable, the heat is great, their friends and family are awesome and their kids are just hilarious.

In the "disclaimer" I was promised a really good romantic comedy and while this was great I don't feel it has lived up to this promise. There were many. many funny scenes, but the fact that the action was quite predictable and that it all ends up into a trope I absolutely dislike made me withhold a star.

It's a great read overall, especially if you enjoy the tropes featured. My favorite thing about it was the dynamic between Mack and Katy, who they were behind closed doors, and the supporting characters, it made me want to read their stories, too.

I got a copy of this in order to share my view on it.

Friends of mine have been suggesting a check out a "Max Monroe" for several months, but I just have not gotten around to it. After a few people read and LOVED this one, I had to see for myself. I flew through this book in just a few hours. The friends to enemies trope was so nicely done - in a way that I am not sure how to even describe. I often see this trope done so aggressively, so 2 people so fiercely despise each other and then all of a sudden don't. There was nothing super aggressive about the dislike for each other these 2 had, so the relationship progression was so seamless and cute. The banter and sarcasm was so perfect and not overdone, just so enjoyable. I loved the characters in this book so much. But the audio for this one CRUSHED it. The narrators could not have been more perfect for these characters. Their mannerisms and tones were just so on point, and made it feel like a conversation happening in real life right before your eyes. I can not wait to check out more by this author.

This was my first book from Max Monroe and it certainly won't be my last. It was so cute, laugh out loud funny and had the perfect amount of spice for a fun rom-com. The audiobook was really good. It took me a little bit to get over Alexander Cendese's overzealousness, but it fit Mack's character, so it didn't bother me too much. CJ Bloom is one of my favorite narrators, so I was really excited to see her as Katie too.

The premise was perfect. Type A Katie can't stand wild and crazy hottie, Mack and they're rivals with the best banter. After a vacation snafu leaves them in a forced proximity situation, she realizes he's not some hot shot without a care in the world and is actually so kind and loving. I really loved watching these two go from rivals to frenemies to lovers.

I also really enjoyed the third act, so often we get a break up in rom-coms, but the way these two worked out their issues was perfect. Katie's family cracked me up time and time again as well. And according to the author's note at the end of this audiobook it sounds like I have some catching up to do in this world and I can't wait.

I liked the author‘s note. Good start!
This book is about math teacher Katy and Mack, the music teacher in the next classroom. She can’t stand him because he is always making a lot of noise while she tries to teach the kids about math. But luckily, she’s about to go on a holiday with a colleague and won’t have to see him - wrong! It turns out she booked the same B&B because they both know the owners and somehow the appartement was double booked. Since their money was refunded they decide on a truce and to share the condo for the week. Because why would you discard a free holiday? At first they got off on the wrong food but soon they make peace and when Katy needs medical attention Mack is very caring and tries to make her stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. That’s when Katy realizes he’s actually a nice guy.
There were a few things I wasn’t enthusiastic about, like the dick talk while discussing picking up your nephew, or the frequent use of the F word. And your best friend suggesting you have sex with your colleague that you can’t stand - I don’t think she understood how much she disliked him! But of course they hit if off and what happens next? You will need to read the book to find out! A nice light read for a sunny afternoon, preferably at the beach.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh my God what an epic entertainer from max Monroe! This is for all of us rom com lovers who just love all the adorable witty warm feels!Mac and Katy's forced proximity enemies to lovers workplace romance was just too good! It was hilarious .it was swoony. It was spicy. It was heartwarming and it comes with a nice little surprise at the end .I have to say that Mac max stole my heart fair and squad . This man is freaky amazing . A man who loves music ,who loves people, who has the biggest sweetest kindest heart, who is a complete charmer and can be a dirty talker when necessary..Well, he is really the complete package. Katy is the grump in this relationship. She is a stickler for rules and he wants her life to be completely planned but Mac throws her life completely off-balance as he invades her heart and soul with his dazzling shenanigans.

A maths teacher and a music teacher cannot be friends specially when the math teacher is completely annoyed by all the ruckus in the music teacher's classroom. It was a big surprise when Matt and Katie found themselves standard in a vacational rental in California. Now they Have to exist together till their flight leaves but Katie has a freak accident with seashell and Mac surprised her by taking care of her so well. As she spends more time with Mac, she realises that there is more to his personality than the goofy flirty side .I absolutely loved the way Mac took care of Katie when he she was being totally hostile and he definitely won her over with his thoughtful protective gestures.Katie had to grow up very fast because of her wild parents and that's why she is so responsible and she is so controlled in her life but Mac unleashes a crazy passionate side in her! Mac knows that she is very flighty about the situationship that started in the vacation but he also knows for sure that he wants to continue seeing Katie beyond it.Katie starts to later heart open a late making and of course the little surprise that came along helped a lot.

Katie and Matt are complete opposites and as they say opposites attract is very true here.Their chemistry is incredible and they tried to resist it as much as possible because they are co-workers and they didn't need more complications in their life but ultimately it became too hard to resist and the dam broke. With the balance of the passion, the emotions and pure fun.. this story was a complete package.

Now I just need to find someone like Mac who will take Care of me solemnly when I amm sick ,who will Push me out of my boundaries and who will make me feel all loved cherished and my life will be complete. Katie deserved it as so does every woman!
