Best Frenemies….
I loved this book! Couldn’t put it down!! Got it done in just a couple hours!
Mack is just the best and my favorite character. I do love Katy as well but you just can’t help but love Mack.
Coworkers who work in the same school, Katy has never really cared for Mack. But she hasn’t really gotten to know him.
With a mix up on a rental for spring break, these two are stuck together. From there Katy gets to see the real Mack. And Mack can’t help but fall more in love with Katy.
When vacation ends, they both still can’t get enough of each other. But will still bring coworkers and life happening, stop them from being happy together?
This is a must read. It’s funny, sexy, and so sweet.
Thanks NetGalley for this free copy in exchange for my honest review! This had one of my favorite tropes (enemies to lovers obvi) and one of my least favorite tropes (a spoiler so I shan’t say), and it was a WILD ride.
I’m gonna be real honest I absolutely could not stand Mack for about the same amount of time as Katy. 😂 the man was a cauldron of terrible boundaries and poor decision making skills. I wasn’t even Katy and he was stressing me out.
But once he sets his mind on being friends with her, the improvement is immediate. And they make each other laugh so much!
It did feel like some sections were quite rushed (the last few chapters/epilogue were a blur), where some more detail could have gone in. But overall, fun and enjoyable and (in spite of the aforementioned least favorite trope) pretty light!
Another hit for Max Monroe! I absolutely loved Accidental Attachment was looking forward to reading this one. I have to say I think I liked this one even more! The wit was top notch and I loved the comedy! There was so many funny moments where I literally laughed out loud. Then you add the spicy scenes and this was an easy 5 star read. Can’t wait to read more from Max Monroe!
If you like any other Max Monroe books you'll love this one too. You won't find a more unlikely couple than Mack and Katy. This book has a hit enemies-to-love trope, and it is well written. The banter between Mack and Katy is fantastic, and I loved how Mack fell first. With LoL moments and spicy scenes, you should for sure read this great book. Another thing, some great characters might just make a cameo.
Thanks, NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ARC
One of the best Max Monroe books I have read/listened to yet. How can you not love Mack and Katy. The enemies to lovers trope is just perfect for these two main characters.
Mack , the infamous Thatch’s cousin, music teacher , thorn in Katy the math teachers side . Find themselves in quite the unexpected predicament when their vaca gets double booked !
I won’t spoil too much but if you want to read a hilarious, swoony, romantic comedy. This book is just for you!
Thank you NetGalley and max Monroe and for the ARC
Let me start by saying that March 21st? A great birthday (aka my birthday), so this book got bonus points for that alone! This was such an adorable enemies to lovers book, and Mack was the DEFINITION of he fell first which is always a favorite! I loved Mack and Katy’s banter so much! Especially the nicknames! I loved this book so much!
Another funny and cute rom com by Max Monroe! I loved Accidental Attachment so I knew I had to pick this new book of hers up!
Mack was the sweetest guy ever and Katy was a bit crazy, which made their dynamic so entertaining!
If you like an enemies to lovers story with spice and lots of laugh out loud moments then pick this one up!
This is another fabulous funny cheeky clever romcom from Max and Monroe. Great fun! Katy and Mack are an odd couple, both teachers, Mack is an extrovert, naughty, ego-driven and right in Katy's face. Katy is a maths teacher, organised and (not so) demure. Bit of forced proximity and these two are away! Can Mack change his ways and go for one girl? Can Katy risk herself with her classroom nemesis?
This is light-hearted and an easy read. Lots of cameos from MM favourites, not least of all Thatch and the billionaires. It's all pretty fluffy and a great way to spend an afternoon. No angst, not too laboured, plenty of sass and steam and a thoroughly enjoyable read. Recommended!
Thank you to Max and Monroe, NetGalley and the publishers for the gift of an ARC!
Monroe pushes the boundaries of romance with sassy heroines, spicy stories and irresistible characters. Best Frenemies is a compilation of the best that romance has to offer. From funny and flirty to sultry and frustrating. Katy and Mack are a perfect mismatch. A deliciously, over the top, heartbreaker.
3.75 stars! A beachy rom-com where a relaxing getaway turns chaotic when Mack Houston, the protagonist's long-time nemesis, becomes her unexpected vacation companion. Despite their mutual dislike, their week together promises amusing escapades and potential romantic sparks. While the story offers a fun premise and entertaining tension, it falls just short of a full 4-star rating due to some predictable plot elements and occasional clichés. Nonetheless, it's an enjoyable read for those seeking a light-hearted, enemies-to-lovers romance.
this is such a fun, sweet story! I loved Katy and Mack, especially once they establish their little truce while on their vacation and really start being into each other. At the beginning I found Mack kind of obnoxious (like eating the doughnut...that was ridiculous), but once he and Katy become more friends than enemies, they were really cute together! the thing that absolutely sold me on Mack though is when he surprises Katy for her birthday, his sweetness really shined then :)
as advertised, this book is absolutely hilarious! I laughed out load constantly reading this story! I also really enjoyed Accidental Attachment, and loved the little references back to that story in this one.
Overall, very cute, sweet, fun, spicy story that was a quick read for me :)
thank you for the ARC!!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.
Another cute and funny book by Max Monroe. I really enjoyed Accidental Attraction and this one didn’t disappoint either. Frenemies to lovers in the workplace has everything you need for a great rom com read. I did think there was some character growth needed on both ends- Katy was a little annoying in my opinion, she was very high strung and needed to lighten up a little bit. On the other hand, Mack was go with the flow and needed a tad bit maturity, guess they evened each other out in the end.
This book had me laughing at so many parts! As a former elementary teacher who still subs, I loved the fact that the main characters were teachers at an elementary school. Some of the moments where the kids were cutting up are so spot on! The chemistry between Katy and Mack was spicy, I loved every minute of their enemies to lovers story.
Katy Dayton teaches at an elementary school where she loves her job. Well loves it besides constantly telling the music teacher next door to keep it down. Mack is an attractive, go with the flow teacher who gets on Katy’s last nerve.
When she makes spring break plans to finally get away with her best friend, she cannot wait until school is released for break. Until her friend bails with a case of flu. As luck would have it, the condo is double booked with none other than her arch nemesis: Mack. What else could possibly go wrong, right? But that’s just the beginning. Their week-long vacay is full of crying-worthy and laugh out loud moments. As they closer, she wonders how things will play out when they return to their normal lives.
I highly recommend this book! It’s the perfect mix of spicy, heartwarming and laughing out loud.
Katy is a type A math teacher who happens to be in the classroom next to Mack who is the crazy music teacher. Over spring break, they both somehow booked the same rental house and end up having to share space. As they spend more time together, Mack does not get on Katy’s nerves like he normally did at school and he is teaching her to let go and embrace the now. Not to mention, he was there for her when she got hurt and took care of her.
This was such a cute rom com and I love seeing an opposites attract trope. There were some spicy scenes and I loved how the characters from Accidental Attachment were mentioned a few times with Brooke being a career day speaker at the school as well. Some of the makeup scenes at school bothered me as a past teacher but this was still such a cute read!
When the grade school math teacher can't stand the music teacher you know it's gonna be super hot steamy undeniable passion.
Spring break vacation in Florida puts them in a hot mess literally and it's so much fun.
I laughed my way through, enjoying every moment that was filled my all the amazing characters.
What can I say this duo's books> they are AWESOME
Hard to put down
The best characters
The best stories past and present
Steamy Spice
GAH
Thank you for approving me to enjoy this Incredible book!!!
Thank you Max Monroe and Netgalley for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!
Workplace, enemies to lovers? Count me in! It was fun getting to know Mack and Katy. Half the book you get to be on vacation with them and the second half is them trying to figure out their relationship in their everyday life. It was a super quick read filled with lots of steam and laughs. If you have read previous Max Monroe books you will enjoy some cameos!
This books is filled with fan favorite tropes and can’t wait for more!
Firstly, thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
Well… that was fun! I loved that the book started with a “where not to read” and they were right. This writing duo provided a banter filled, up to date with pop culture, rom com. I love me a dual POV and these two MCs were everything. I don’t want to give too much away, but be prepared to hold Mack in high regard.
Following Accidental Attachment, this entertaining story focuses on two elementary teachers and their unexpectedly steamy spring break vacation. I am glad I enjoyed Accidental Attachment first, as it made this one even better. For those of you starting your Max Monroe journey here, keep in mind that you'll want to go back and catch up!
I was fortunate to receive a free ARC of this book from Netgalley. I prepared to read it in private, snacks in hand, knowing that reading stories from this author duo in public tends to make me burst into laughter and attract judging side eyes from people. (Although the cat gave me stink eye during one of my louder outbursts before leaving the room ... but I digress ... hahaha!)
What's great about this read is how easy it is to connect with the characters and their world. Thatch, Klein, Wes and Cap make a showing here!! Loved that. Oh, and Brooke too!!
(Don’t know why I’m happy? You have some goood reading ahead of you!!)
I already had a soft spot for most of the guys in the story, and the tension and chemistry of the new couple only added to my enjoyment, as did the way the MM OGs fit into the storyline.
I found this couple likable, but there's still some room for growth on both sides. Katy is an overthinker, uptight and inflexible, Mack is a bit of a irreverent playboy that gets by on his looks and a carefree attitude. It creates a conflict between them in their workplace. A vacation rental mix-up has them sharing a space, and you can predict what happens next!! While some parts were expected, it was precisely what I was hoping for and I turned the pages contentedly. The epilogue was a perfect fit for them, though I wished I didn't get to the end so quickly.
I can always count on this author duo to provide rom-com reads that are both entertaining and steamy, filled with silly situations and heartfelt emotions, and always culminating in satisfying HEAs that I look forward to. I am happy to recommend this book, along with others in their catalog, and voluntarily leave this review. Can’t wait for the next one!!
I LOVE Max Monroe’s writing. I read 75% of this on a plane and I had to reign it in and keep from laughing out loud. The banter is great and makes for a quick entertaining read. I will read anything these two write! I will say, the trope at 75% isn’t for me, but it was well done. It wrapped up pretty dang quick after that but I enjoyed! Can’t wait for the next one!
Thank you NetGalley for eARC in exchange for an honest review!
Another great book by Max Monroe! I loved it! Mack and Katy were so great! I think Mack was my favorite out of all the books. I loved the Thatch, Kline and Wes cameos. I loved that Mack and Katy were co workers and teachers. I haven’t read too many teacher books so it was different. Great book! Can’t wait for the next one!
