A new author to me and I'm always up for a new author. While I felt like the story was somewhat predictable and I knew where it was leading, I was kind of okay with that. It set me up for a good, somewhat spicy read that allowed me to just soak in the book. I'm not sure if I'm the biggest fan of Max, but willing to try again maybe with a different It just needs a good twist or turn and it could be even better.
This book cracked me up! I really enjoyed the first in the series and had to continue.
This wasn't a total hit for me but still a 4 star read! Max Monroe is always a good read so I highly recommend.
I found Mack and Katy's story to be entertaining! While I did see where some of the story was going, I enjoyed watching it unfold on the pages. The banter between the two of them gave me quite a few chuckles along the way. I also found Mack to be endearing as the book continued on. With opposites attract romance, these two had me unable to put the book down. I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrators fit how I envisioned the characters and helped make the story pop. Thank you to Max Monrow for an advanced audio ARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
I absolutely loved this adorable and hilarious rom-com! The coming together for the two MCs was a fun adventure!
I definitely think I selected this book when I was in my peak mood reader phase, because unfortunately, this just didn’t hit. I tried to pick up the book at least five times especially since this is an audiobook so it’s very easy for me to consume and it just didn’t grab me So I unfortunately had to and would love to get back to it, but I just couldn’t see myself finishing it currently
While I can see how this would be Frenemies to Lovers. It seemed more like one who liked to push the buttons of the other who judged a book by its cover and in turn never gave that book a chance for over 5 years just because they found them attractive. Mack comes off just a little too childish for my tastes, almost like the guy we are all told men are just going to be like and there's nothing we can do about it, almost another child instead of a potential partner. Thank goodness he was a contributing partner, that at least made him a little more palatable. Katy was a type A, control freak, who over thinks and has anxiety, so a little less annoying. But, even with their flaws a characters, the pairing just made sense. I found the story entertaining, even if the childish behavior of the lead male put me off. I will say, I knew right of the bat what the plot twist was going to be and I don't hate it, even though it's not my favorite trope. Overall, a decent, if not a tad bit too long, read to get you out of a reading slump.
I received this for my honest review from NetGalley.
If you've read/listened to Max Monroe's first book, you'll have pretty good idea of what's in store for you - endless puns, sharp humor, hints of the first book, steamy love scenes, an ideal couple who for some strange, inexplicable reason think they don't fit together, finding their common language, and let's not forget the nice dog who walks around in a superhero costume and helps his owner when she's about to faint (even if it's caused by her dear nephew, who can say the most unnecessary things at the most unexpected moment :) ).
It is such a light delight, full of fun and love. Perfect distraction between a couple of dark crime mysteries.
What a sweet romance, and I’m so hooked on the writing of Max Monroe. This was a fun story of opposites attract, who find themselves on a vacation in the same rental. I loved the audio narration, and it had me laughing and smiling the whole time.
*many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review
This was such a sweet and full of fun romance. I absolutely loved Mac from the beginning. He has such a sweet lighthearted personality, he’s a total golden retriever & you can’t help but love him and his over the top personality….. unless you’re Katie.
Katie is not a fan of Mac, she loathes him, she doesn’t mind the eye candy that he is, but that’s it.
When circumstances put them in an awkward situation, they have to come to an agreement.
Will they survive or will they tear each other apart?
This was so fun, it was full of so much snarky banter, angst, laughter, awkward moments, chemistry, passion and understanding.
This is a definite opposites attract story and I am here for it!
Love reading Max Monroe books. His books are well written and a fun, easy read. They take the reader right into the story and invoke emotions along with the characters. I laughed, cried and was frustrated by them sometimes. The detail the book provides makes it easy to visualize the scene and puts you right in the story. Great book. Can't wait to read another soon.
Audio version
This was really a fun and cute love story. The audio version was told very well. Both characters were interesting and well fleshed out. Both romantic leads grew over the arc of the story, and complemented each other. I saw the writing on the wall as far as the twist and ending but it didn’t detract from my enjoyment.
I didn’t necessarily love the dirty talk. I’m not a prude, just not a fan. I would read/listen to more by this author.
This is an adorable story of two people who get on each others nerves like no one else. They truly have to opposing personalities. Yet, they
find themselves on the same vacation place and in the same rental. While both are not willing to let they're vacation go to waste. They end up finding things to like about each other.
This was a great true enemies to lovers story.
I read this one and listened to the audio and preferred the audio! The voices were spot on for me! I enjoyed this one so much! Such a quick, cute read with lots of laughs along the way! Am now going back and reading all 3 of the it’s a funny story series! All 3 are stand alone, but some character crossover made me want to read all three!
I love a good angsty/tension one bed type of trope and this gave me all the feels! My favorite is an enemies to lovers and I felt their tension like a live wire!!
Two rival teachers end up on the same beach getaway ... at the same time ... in the same house.
Honestly this is only my second Max Monroe book and I did not know what to expect. To me this one was much more of a win! I felt like the term enemies might be a bit much to describe them but rivals felt believable. The storyline makes sense and you really see the characters as believable people. I enjoyed the banter and I love a good forced proximity book. That main character, Mack, woowee he knows how to treat a lady. He is by far my favorite character in this book. I will say Katy initially wrote him off pretty quickly and felt a little harsh at times but Mack was a sweet character and I like that he was able to show himself in a different light.
Overall, I enjoyed this beach read. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a beach romance looking for a spicy main male character. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I had the wonderful pleasure of listening to 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 earlier this year, and I couldn't wait to plug in my headphones, turn up the volume, and listen to 𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒔, another novel by another Max Monore! It was a delight; from the start, the main characters, Katy and Mack, had me laughing out loud. Calm, confident, easygoing, and hot as the Florida sun, music teacher Mack knew just the buttons to push to get under uptight math teacher Katy's skin. And boy, did he like to push those buttons! Their hysterical banter and antics made this story such a treat!! And CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese's phenomenal narration brought this crazy, fun, and sizzling hot tale to life. The sparks between these two were ready to combust right from the start! Boy, did I enjoy that 5-alarm heat! Mack sure did have that bedroom talk down pat! This one had it all! It was such a great, feel-good romance!! It is a story you don't want to miss!! I highly recommend you grab a copy NOW!!
Thank you, @netgalley and @authormaxmonroe, for letting me listen to a copy of this fantastic book!!
To the publisher: This book was archived prior to me downloading it so I am unable to give a full review.
This is an excellent enemies to lovers romance. The storyline is sweet, funny, sexy, and engaging. The characters are well developed, and interesting. Alexander Cendese and CJ Bloom did an excellent job bringing this story to life. If you like Romantic Comedy, this one is for you. I enjoyed it! #NetGalley
A thoroughly enjoyable book with a great storyline! A woman finds that her nemesis is double-booked in her vacation rental and has no choice but to share it with him. This makes for some funny predicaments, as well as the opportunity to get to know one another in a different setting. This was a really fun book to listen to, with great characters (particularly the spring break girls who lust after Mack) and lots of laugh-out-loud moments. Can't wait for the next offering from these very talented authors!
Thanks to Max Monroe and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own.
i didn’t know max monroe was a big deal but i’m so thankful this book kickstarted my love for their books. this book was so good and so cute, i’m not too big of a fan of the unexpected pregnancy trope, but the rest of the book made up for it. thank you netgalley, the authors, and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing book.
