A cute, formulaic rom com about enemy to lover coworkers that end up accidentally sharing a cottage for Spring break.

This was a cute story, but overall felt like it was not memorable compared to other romance novels. The narration duo was great. They did have a funny introduction about not reading the novel in public for fear of laughing, but there was only one real "gut busting" moment.

I will definitely read from these authors again, although I will say that it is for the comfort of a predictable story line, and not because they have invented some new way of approaching romance.

Thank you to the authors for providing me an advance listening copy.

I loved Accidental Attachment earlier this year, and so I was excited to start Best Frenemies. Kate and Mack are both elementary teachers, and they teach next door to each other. Katy is NOT Mack's biggest fan. The noise always coming from his music classroom makes it hard for her kiddos to focus on math. But now it's spring break, and she won't have to butt heads with him for an entire week--until he walks in on her in the shower of her...his...their vacation rental. They've been double-booked--but they both decide to stay because, with their refunds, it's a free vacation. Katy ends up stepping on a shell at the beach and needing stitches and adult supervision while on some serious painkillers. Mack steps in and steps up, and Katy realizes maybe he's not so bad after all.

Their enemies to friends to lovers to platonic co-workers/not really platonic co-workers to [redacted because of spoilers] was fun to read, and I loved the workplace element to their romance. Teachers are people too, who have emotions and *gasp* sex. I love seeing teachers who love their students get the happy endings (if not the pay raises) they deserve.

I love CJ Bloom as a narrator, and Alexander Cendese delivered an excellent narration as well. This quick little romance is super funny, even if it's a teensie bit predictable. I loved the cameos from Accidental Attachment, and I can't wait to listen to the next book, which they teased as Sammy's and Noah's story. The one thing that was weird was the author's note at the beginning. I could have done without...that. It was a little too "potty humor" adjacent for me, for what is an otherwise awesome rom-com.

Max and Monroe are back. Bringing along some old and new friends. This book is your come to expect from Max and Monroe of humor (some raunchy), hijnks and romance.

This story is about Mack and Katy who both teach at the same school and loathe each other. Mack lives to terrorize the prim and proper Katy and she curses his very existence. When its time for spring break they wind up in the same place and due to a double booking sharing a condo (its a forced proximity which Thatch loves so he ships it immediately). Coming to a truce of sorts they agree to stay and ignore each other until it’s time to go home. That lasts a very short time thanks to a seashell. That seashell sets them off on a whole new course.

That course will leave you giggling, shaking your head, cheering and say what-ing. Everything you can expect from the dynamic duo. So I suggest you pick it up and see for yourself. I mean who wants to miss time with Thatcher Kelly? Not this fluffing girl!

The audio recording of this book was a bit much honestly I felt like I had taken an IV of Jolt when I listened to him talk! It seemed to be in all caps on 15x. So maybe calm it down a bit to match the character.

Everyone loves a good coworker rivalry, even in an elementary school! I found this story to be funny and very very cute. Included are some steamy scenes that made me want to find myself a Mack!

The storyline itself is a classic rivalry turned romantic. Spring break was upon the teachers in an elementary school and circumstance brought the rivals to the same rented condo. Initial annoyance mixed with the surprise appearance of a tiny seashell army and these two rivals begin to see each other more closely, but what do they do with what they find.... only reading the story will tell!

I did find most of the story to be predictable but, the humor and wit intertwined made this an entertaining listen regardless. I listened to the whole thing in one day and it did not disappoint!

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to ARC review this title.

Summary: Going tit for tat with the man you hate is all fun and games until things get literal…and the jerk sees you naked. My beach getaway was only supposed to include three things: relaxation, wine, and fun in the sun. Mack Houston, on the other hand, should have never-ever-been involved. In no uncertain terms, he’s the bane of my existence. Then thorn in my side. The sexy Mr. Good-Time Guy who drives me up the wall and my work archnemesis for the past five years. He’s the last person I want to get stuck anywhere with-it’s bad enough that I have to see him every day at work- and yet, because of a booking error (or curse the universe, as I like to call it), I’m stuck in the same vacation rental with him for an entire week. I’m going to end up in jail. Or worse, I might just give in to the insane urge to find out if his lips are really as kissable as they look. One way or the other, disaster feels imminent.

My thoughts- I found myself laughing out loud throughout the whole book. I listened to this as an audiobook, and both actors did a great job, since it was dual-POV. I would say this is an enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity romantic comedy. The chemistry between Mac and Katie was sizzling. I love this author, so I knew this was going to be a winner, but man it exceeded my expectations. I loved the circumstances they found themselves in. There was an emergency room visit, and hilarity ensued when morphine was administered. Also in this book is a balanced amount of spice, and the romance between them was not far-fetched as it can be in romance novels. Don't pass up this story!

*** I received this audiobook as an ARC for an honest review.***

I enjoyed the sense of humor that the authors used throughout the story. The story didn't always accurately reflect life working in a school (this is from someone who works in a school), but not enough to detract from the overall story. Although Katie had a quick change of feelings, I enjoyed the enemies to friends to lovers storyline. I thought the plot was solid as well as the development of the characters. I would definitely check out more from this writing duo in the future.

This is cute fun steamy romcom following enemies-to-lovers Katy and Mack as they are trapped in forced proximity on a vacation. I enjoyed their banter and the gentle way Mack took care of her following an injury. I also liked how they slowly started to depend on each other and how their personalities really complement one another. The ending is sweet perfection and very satisfying. This is my first Max Monroe book and I'm looking to reading more of them.

4.5 stars!! Okay this is such a fun book. I loved the banter between the characters, the spice, and the plot was so well done. I also loved that this has some characters that were in accidental attachment! That element just made it so much more fun for me. After having listened to accidental attachment as my first Max Monroe book I had high hopes, and this one did not disappoint. I loved the forced proximity, enemies to lovers romance that this was, but I also just loved how funny & realistic it felt. Hats off to Max Monroe for another stellar romance. I will be recommending this to everyone!

Cute cover and storyline, with a sprinkle of predictability. There were good characters, witty banter, just enough spice and some definite LOL moments. Sometimes I questioned how old the main characters were due their actions. Overall, this was a good and quick read. I’d recommend the audio version due the fantastic narrators…they truly brought the characters to life. I need a Mack Houston in my life, hahaha!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the gifted ARC (audiobook)…as all opinions are my own.

This was such a funny and spicy read!
I loved Mac’s golden retriever energy and that Katie was a tiny bit grumpy!

It was such a great read! I enjoyed the enemies vibe and how it transformed into a hook up to more.

There were bits where previous characters from other books were in there and some of their conversations I just were inside jokes from those books so I felt a little left out, but over all I really liked this one!

If you are looking for something short, steamy and hilarious, then pick this up!

I listened to the audio for this book. It was dual audio and both narrators were fabulous. I did think our male narrator did the different tones better, he got all characters to have their own unique tones and easily identified. He doesn't have a very deep voice but it's very real. I loved how our female narrator got all the emotions to come out in her voice, her voice would quiver at some points, it was just great to listen to.

As for the story, it is very humorous with the innuendos if that's something you can handle. I really love how our MMC was the happy go lucky kinda guy but so thoughtful - a true cinnamon roll - what he wouldn't do for our FMC and yes he falls hard and he shows it.
It had great banter, true to it's enemies to lovers trope.
Her parents were an interesting pair and I could see her father really connecting with our MMC, their minds were definitely alike.

Friends of mine have been suggesting a check out a "Max Monroe" for several months, but I just have not gotten around to it. After a few people read and LOVED this one, I had to see for myself. I flew through this book in just a few hours. The friends to enemies trope was so nicely done - in a way that I am not sure how to even describe. I often see this trope done so aggressively, so 2 people so fiercely despise each other and then all of a sudden don't. There was nothing super aggressive about the dislike for each other these 2 had, so the relationship progression was so seamless and cute. The banter and sarcasm was so perfect and not overdone, just so enjoyable. I loved the characters in this book so much. But the audio for this one CRUSHED it. The narrators could not have been more perfect for these characters. Their mannerisms and tones were just so on point, and made it feel like a conversation happening in real life right before your eyes. I can not wait to check out more by this author.

Best Frenemies is an enemies to lover book. With a little forced proximity to go along. Kate and Mac are both teachers at an elementary school in New York, she teaches math and he is the music teacher right next door. Mac tries to annoy Kate sometimes, but when they end up in the same condo for spring break, he decides maybe annoyance isn't the way to go. He decides to kill her with kindness, after she finds him drinking her wine and eating her donuts!! From there, the RomCom commences! There are characters that are from previous Max Monroe books, a cameo appearance really. They added even more comedy to the mix.

Overall, this was a good, laugh out loud, book. There were a couple spots that were a bit of a lull but they were so small in comparison to some of the other things going on. This is definitely a book to look into if you like enemies to lovers stories, RomComs, or anything by Max Monroe, These ladies know how to write a story. And apparently this one was so potent, one of the authors ended up pregnant! Not sure how that happened but that's the word on the streets. I recommend this book to lovers of laughter and spice!!

📕Best Frenemies by Max Monroe
🗓️Pub date: 9/16/23

Katy Dayton is an elementary school teacher who is ready to head to Florida for her spring break and a much needed vacation. What she isn’t ready for is to be sharing that same house with Mack Houston, another teacher at her school who she doesn’t really like. After some debate and calls to the rental company, the two decide to just suck it up and stay for the week. By the time the week is up, their relationship has taken a turn that neither of them expected.

This was such a fun read/listen. I found myself laughing a few times and there was the perfect amount of spice. You could feel the sexual chemistry and sexual tension between these two. I found Katy and Mack’s banter funny and loved seeing them develop throughout the story.

I listened to this on audio and I always love listening to anything from CJ Bloom. This was my first time listening to Alexander Cendese and while it wasn’t my favorite, it didn’t deter me from listening to the book.

Read if you enjoy:
🐚Dual POV
🐚Enemies to lovers
🐚Forced proximity
🐚Workplace romance
🐚Vacation romance

Katy is a second grade math teacher and Mack is an elementary music teacher. Katy strong dislikes Mack because his music room is right next to her classroom and the music regularly interrupt her class. Mack has a crush on Katy but knows she doesn't like him.

Katy is excited to leave New York for a Spring Break trip to Florida. She is renting the condo belonging to a fellow teacher's parent. Once she gets to the condo, Katy decides to take a shower. Mack also rented the condo and arrives as Katy is in the shower. He hears the running water and goes to find the source. They are surprised to see each other as they had no plans to be there together.

The rental company double booked the condo and they both decide to stay the week. During this week, Katy starts to realize there is more to Mack than what she sees at school. The two start a physical relationship after about four or five days. This physical relationship continues even once they return to New York. Katy realizes she was in love with him but thought he only wanted to have fun and Mack realizes he is in love with Katy as well.

I really enjoyed Best Frenemies and the audiobook was an awesome listen. I also really enjoyed Accidental Attachment that I recently listened to as well. I am looking forward to reading/listening to more from Max Monroe.

"Best Frenemies" by Max Monroe is an absolute gem that I couldn't put down. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, and it had me laughing and thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

The story follows Katy Dayton, a no-nonsense math teacher, and her charismatic classroom neighbor, Mack Houston, a music teacher with a knack for chaos. Their banter and witty exchanges had me in stitches, and I couldn't help but root for these two characters. When they find themselves thrown together in a vacation rental during Spring Break, their co-worker status escalates into a hilarious war of wits. But beneath the surface, there's undeniable chemistry, and when Katy gets injured, Mack steps in as the knight in shining armor.

The journey from frenemies to friends to lovers kept me engaged from start to finish. Max Monroe has a knack for crafting characters you can't help but love, and Katy and Mack are no exception. Katy's dedication to her teaching career and Mack's irresistible confidence make them a dynamic and unforgettable duo.

What sets "Best Frenemies" apart is Max Monroe's signature humor and wit, which shine through on every page. The seamless integration of beloved characters from previous books is like a reunion with old friends and adds an extra layer of charm to the story. It's a delightful treat for fans like me who love easter eggs in their books.

Best Frenemies has a perfect blend of spicy moments, laugh-out-loud humor, and heart-melting romance. making this story a must-read. Katy and Mack's love story is one you don't want to miss. Bravo, Max Monroe, for another five-star masterpiece!

I thought the book was hilarious and I loved the warning at the beginning of places not to listen to it in public because of the humor. I honestly disregarded it but there were quite a few times I was glad I was listening at home because I actually did laugh out loud quite often.

I enjoyed the witty banter between the two main characters, Mack and Katy. I thought the dialogue was very well done and felt very real, it brought the characters to life. The enemies to lovers scenario was very well done in my opinion. I liked that Mack is like a giant adult child, which you'd have to be in order to be a great music teacher. I found his mixture of sex appeal with his warm heart and tender attitude an absolute breath of fresh air. I was a little leery of Katy's character at first due to the mean girl persona but it definitely worked for her character and I did really enjoy the character. I definitely enjoyed this steamy romance and will be recommending it to my friends.

The narrators CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese did a great job bringing the characters to life. I really enjoyed the pace and voices in the book. It was easy to distinguish the characters and follow along with the story.

This is the first book I've read by the author duo Max Monroe but I'm eager to continue reading more from them.

I loved every word of this book! The authors outdid themselves once again.
I struggle with workplace romances because they tend to lack professionalism and, therefore, realism, but this was not the case.

I truly enjoyed the plot, the MCs were clearly into each other from the beginning and had lots and lots of chemistry. They were both lovable and relatable. I didn't find this as funny as promised, but I laughed nonetheless.
The references to Max Monroe's past characters were also very appreciated.

The audiobook is wonderfully made, it makes for a great listening experience! It's been one of the few times that I was stunned the book had come to an end because time literally flew by.

This was the perfect light romance that my heart needed right now. Katy knows one thing for sure, Mack is the most annoying of her coworkers. When he isn't being loud and obnoxious with his music class next to hers, he's smiling arrogantly at her and making her heart flutter. Good thing she wants nothing to do with him.
She finally gets some time to unwind on spring break, but to her surprise, the rental was double booked, and none other than Mack walks in.. when she's literally in the shower.
The two being forced to spend quality time with one another is just what they need to see that they might have had things all wrong. Mack isn't exactly who she thought he was; he is so much more.
Can these two coworkers continue to get along once they come back to reality or will the spring break fling fizzle out? I thought Mack was just the sweetest and he was spicy too, don't get me wrong, but his heart is so big and he fell for Katy even before this book started if you ask me.
I enjoyed the narration of this and thought it was really fun being brought to life.
Thank you to Max Monroe and Netgalley for an early audio copy.
