This was a great and fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.
In this new book we get the story of Mack and Katy. This pair is the definition of opposites and their attraction to each other is off the charts. In this forced close confinement, coworkers read these two characters find themselves sharing a vacation rental. As they spend more time together, the more attracted they are to each other and the sparks fly between them even when the vacation is over.
So I enjoyed the characters and their differences. I liked watching these characters grow as well as their relationship. I enjoyed the return of some of the characters from previous books that made cameo appearances but thought that they would have a slightly bigger role in the story than there was.
Overall, this was a great read that I enjoyed from start to finish and would recommend to others.
“The only problem then is that I wouldn’t see you every day.'
"Yeah. And?"
"And then I’d have to miss you.”
- Teacher romance
- Dislike to love
- Opposites attract
- Forced proximity
- He takes care of her
- Golden retriever hero
- No breakup
- Dual POV
Best Frenemies follows two teachers stuck together in the same rental over spring break. Katy and Mack have never gotten along as their personalities and teaching styles clash. Katy is the put-together overly organised math teacher (thanks to a chaotic childhood) and Mack is the happy-go-lucky music teacher who loves to push her buttons. He is literally a golden retriever in human form a.k.a it's impossible not to love him.
As you can imagine, this dynamic just leads to great banter between the pair. Add in a lot of forced proximity, a little bit of hurt/comfort and Mack's swoony ways and you have a gooood time. While Katy's reluctant to continue being frenemies with benefits when they return to school, she's no match for Mack's confidence and charm. Their relationship was fun and flirty with no breakup.
Finally, can I just say though that Max Monroe and CJ Bloom are a match made in heaven? No one executes banter like CJ Bloom (I said what I said) and Best Frenemies is infused with Max Monroe's usual wit and charm. I laughed out loud more than once, it's true. I also think this was my first time listening to Alexander Cendese and he was a great Mack.
I devoured this audiobook in 24 hours so thanks so much to Max Monroe and NetGalley for the early copy.
Definitely a five star rom com. I laughed, i cried. I'm not usually impressed with romantic comedy. However, this one was top notch. The author brought in alot of other real life issues which brought so much life to the story. Lovable characters and a very enjoyable storyline.
I listened to the audiobook and it was very enjoyable. Both narrators did a great job. The story itself was very funny, I loved the banter between the main characters, and how sweet Mack is. The chemistry between the characters was top notch and it was a fast paced read. I recommend if you’re looking for a quick lighthearted read that will make you laugh out loud.
Best Frenemies is a fun combination of funny, sexy and sweet. I loved watching Katy and Mack fall in love. I liked that Mack was a bit sweeter than everyone (including him) thought and Katy was a bit more spontaneous. I really enjoyed the cameos from characters from Accidental Attachment and the references to Brooke's book. I really enjoyed the forced proximity vacation and how great Mack was at taking care of Brooke! Max Monroe's humor is funny but it's a little unusual for romance. I usually find it funny but every now and then there is a joke that doesn't work for me (e.g. joking that a man has a vagina as a put down). It's probably accurate for the character making the joke but romance can be an escape from that. I recommend this one but with the caveat that the humor may or may not work for you. You'll be able to tell pretty quickly if it's a definite no for you. I'm definietly looking forward to Sammy and Noah's story in the next one!
I listened to the audiobook version of this one and thought the narration was great! This one is duel narration for those who prefer single or duel narration.
Monroe pushes the boundaries of romance with sassy heroines, spicy stories and irresistible characters. Best Frenemies is a compilation of the best that romance has to offer. From funny and flirty to sultry and frustrating. Katy and Mack are a perfect mismatch. A deliciously, over the top, heartbreaker.
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for the ALC!!
This was a cute and silly rom-com and I genuinely enjoyed it! It's been described as "enemies to lovers" but I'd consider it more a dislike to love story, though that's mostly one sided. Mack is one of the sweetest MMCs I've ever gotten the chance to love. There were quite a few nods to other Max Monroe novels and that's always fun.
The audiobook was well done overall - my only qualm was the male narrators voice for his niece.
-forced proximity
-workplace romance
-shared vacation home
-he takes care of her
-he falls first/harder
-dirty talking MMC
-accidental pregnancy
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio ARC. This started out great with the author's note, and I was ready for a lot of laughing out loud. It was a great read until the accidental pregnancy. Why must this be in the book? This will obviously have a target audience, but I wasn't it.
I enjoyed the narrators’ performance. Mac and Kaity had a fun story too. I really dislike the surprise pregnancy and it overall caused me to to rate this title down.
Max Monroe does it again. These ladies know how to jam pack a book full a book full of laughs, spice and throwback references to all good things of the 90’s! This book was another great read or in my case listen! This couple couldn’t have been more opposite in their upbringings and who they are present day. Close proximity and a few kerfuffles have a way of changing their views on one another. Thatcher Kelly and crew sightings never hurt and newest to the gang Brooke Baker add to the fun. I love this duo and the way their books are full of goofy characters that are kind, sexy and know what they want! I was excited to receive this advanced copy and put everything on hold to listen!

I love reading romance because, 99 percent of the time, there is a happily ever after. This book definitely delivered on that! It was so funny at times that I had to cover my mouth so I wouldn’t look stupid laughing by myself! Both the MMC and the FMC were great, but I related most to the FMC! She thrives on order and rules and takes most things pretty seriously. At the same time, the MMC made me want to be more relaxed and able to go with the flow. I enjoyed watching their relationship unfold and the very cute banter between them. If you are looking for a new book boyfriend, read immediately!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Katy-cat and BigMack are so darn cute. When these rival teachers end up at the same vacation rental for spring break by accident you know it’s going to be good. These two have great banter and so many sweet moments together, but the spice is on point as well. This was a fun, easy, spicy romance with great characters and great writing.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
DNF @ 3%.
I received this audiobook as an advanced reader copy but it is NOT working for me.
Here are the reasons I cannot continue reading this.
1. The authors' note which recommends wearing "sanitary products" and "sitting on the toilet" because this book will make the reader messy. That is so gross! I just cannot. 🤮
2. The high pitched, bright, and fast-paced narrator's voice for the male main character. He makes the dude sound like a cartoon teenager. And the immaturity of his conversations!? No thank you. This dude is supposed to be 31? Doesn't sound like it.
3. The mean girl humor of everyone in this book right away. No thank you.

So, thanks author and publisher for provides free copy, but this is NOT for me.
This. Book. Was. So. Cute!!
I've always been a fan of Max Monroe books, and this one is no different. It's definitely fluffy, but sometimes that's just what I want.
Mack and Katie are teachers at the same school who tend to butt heads. They end up being roommates at a double-booked vacation rental and spend the week together.
I think I would have liked a bit more lead-up to their friendship. It felt like they went from enemies to friends overnight. But the characters were very cute, they had great chemistry, and the banter was adorable. I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Max Monroe hits another one out of the park. I loved this book! I could not put it down.
This is the story of an elementary school math teacher, Katy, who is extremely irritated by the music teacher next door, always making so much noise. Mack is a kind-hearted take it as it comes kind of guy who knows he rubs Katy the wrong way.
Then, they have to work on a committee together and wind up sharing a vacation rental for a week. What ensues is hilarious, hot, and romance perfection. I can't recommend this one enough!
“Best Frenemies” is the story of Katy, a math teacher, and Mack, a music teacher, who work together at a private elementary school in New York. Although their classrooms are right next door to one another, Katy and Mack do not get along. So when Katy heads to Destin for Spring Break, she is shocked to find Mack at the condo she booked. An accidental double booking means these “frenemies” are forced to be vacation roommates. Will these two, with seemingly nothing in common, find a way to coexist?
This was such a fun and steamy book with all of my favorite tropes: enemies to lovers, vacation romance, forced proximity, one bed, and dual POVs. I did not want to stop listening to this audiobook and finished the entire thing in one day. CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese were the perfect narrators, and I could not stop laughing out loud. This was my first Max Monroe book, and I will definitely be reading more!

This is a fun, quick read, guaranteed to have you cracking up throughout.
Katy is a by-the-books elementary teacher in NYC, so nothing infuriates her more than her goofball, laidback coworker Mack and his teaching methods. Her saving grace? A vacation to Florida to escape it all. So what are the odds when she gets to her vacation destination and finds the condo she rented had been overbooked…by none other than Mack. Plenty of hijinks ensue as they see each other in a different light and maybe even some romance blooms to change everything. This is great for fans of romcoms and enemies to lovers!
Narrators CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese really brought the many characters to life.
Thank you to NetGalley & Max Monroe for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is out 9/16!
I LOVE Max Monroe’s writing. I read 75% of this on a plane and I had to reign it in and keep from laughing out loud. The banter is great and makes for a quick entertaining read. I will read anything these two write! I will say, the trope at 75% isn’t for me, but it was well done. It wrapped up pretty dang quick after that but I enjoyed! Can’t wait for the next one!

An ARC review:
This is the first book I got to review as ARC and it was an easy, funny, entertaining and sometimes heartwarming story. I love the enemy-turn-lover storyline and this book did not disappoint! I loved the sassy back and forth but there were also many moments that got me going 'awwwwwwwww.' There were definitely steamy moments too!
Another thing I loved was the support group our male protagonist had and would love to read their stories!
Overall a great start to my NetGalley journey!
