Best Frenemies is the first book by this author duo I have read. I had no idea what I expect going into it, but it had some of my favourite tropes in it.
There was forced proximity, co workers, grumpy/ sunshine tropes. There was some funny mishaps that happened between Mack and Katy. The forced proximity in the vacation rental had me laughing, and obviously forced them to get together while they are both on vacation. But feelings start to develop and after they get back work they have to put those feelings aside.
I wasn’t hooked on this book but it was an enjoyable easy listen. I didn’t overly love the characters. But other rom com fans may love this one!

Received an audio arc from netgalley.

4 stars!

This was my first book by Max and Monroe, but it won't be my last! It was a really cute, fun, and quick read! I loved Mack's personality and energy, but I was on the line about Katy throughout the book. She was super funny during the hospital part though! Honestly, I think that her whole dynamic towards Mack was rooted in the position of their classrooms (understandably bc who decides to put a music room next to math??) and the fact that he kind of reminds her of her dad lol. I did like their chemistry and their banter >>> sooo good! I thought that the ending was a bit more abrupt but it didn't bother me! Side note: I thought that the scenes with Mack's cousin and the investors were hilarious too! I love it when guys talk about romance books. I'm going to have to read their books soon.

Mack and Katy are both teachers at the same school in NY. Mack teaches music and his class is often very loud, while Katy tries to teach math. But they don't get along. Mack is very easygoing and loved by everyone. Katy has a huge problem with that and is very uptight.

On long awaited getaways they get stuck together in the same place. Being that close together means they get closer, especially after Katy gets injured and he takes care of her.

It gets hot and steamy fast, but Katy has no idea what she wants. She foes between wanting him and totally ignoring him all of the time.

I like the enemies-to-lovers narrative and the forced proximity of just one holiday condo. It was a funny and entertaining story to listen to. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I didn't like the narration and had trouble staying focused on the story, especially with the male parts. The story also felt very immature, and it would be nice if the characters had more depth or if their union was more developed.

★★★★★ for the story
★★★★ for the audiobook

Katy and Mack have known each other for five years, and they are the opposite of each other : Katy is a math teacher, used to taking care of everyone and her definition of fun is staying home with a book. Mack teaches music (at the same school as Katy) and is known as a charming and fun guy. During spring break they both book a week in Florida and due to an overbooking, they have to cohabitate. In close proximity with him, Katy realizes that Mack isn’t the man she thought he was. Slowly, the more time they spend together, feelings bloom and the sexual tension is acknowledged. They only have one week in Florida, but their fling doesn't seem to stop once they get back home.

What a great story !! Mack and Katy are the ultimate chick-lit, rom-com couple ! their vibes, with the opposite-attracks, co-worker just reminded me so much of some of my fav 90’s favorite movies !

I haven't read all of Max Monroe’s books yet, but I’m sure we get to see more of some of them old book’s characters. And by the way, this book doesn’t belong to the same book series than Accidental Attachment but their in the same universe, we even get to see a tiny bit Brooke (which was adorable and awesome)

As for the voices, I didn't mind Katie's narrator, I even like her and how she 'played' her. Although, I can't the same for Mac's narrator. I'm sorry but I just didn't like him at all. Fortunately I already read the arc so I knew what happened but honestly he made me cringe so bad. Too gymbro and laid-back. I understand what they wanted to show (how they're opposite) but it was too much.
Don't listen to the audiobook and read the book instead.

I don't think I've ever laughed so much listening to an audiobook.
Max Monroe seem to have a direct line to my funny bone.
I absolutely loved Mack and Katy's story and i am 100% going back to read Brooke's book!
The narrators done an amazing job with this and the storyline was hilarious.

I laughed out loud so much today listening to this book!
So adorable & fun 10 out of 10 recommend!

Going tit for tat with the man you hate is all fun and games until things get literal...and the jerk sees you naked.
My beach getaway was only supposed to include three things: relaxation, wine, and fun in the sun.
Mack Houston, on the other hand, should have never—ever—been involved.
He’s the last person I want to get stuck anywhere with—it’s bad enough that I have to see him every day at work—and yet, because of a booking error (or curse of the universe, as I like to call it), I’m stuck in the same vacation rental with him for an entire week. One way or the other, disaster feels imminent.

I really liked so many things about this book. I listened to it on audio and it was so well done. I just loved the push and pull between Mack and Katy. They couldn't be more different. Mack is easy going and takes everything in stride. Everyone that meets him, adores him. (Even Katy's dad). He is very likeable. Katy is a bit of a control freak so I can see why he would drive her nuts.

It's sort of two stories. First, they are stuck together as they both booked the same vacation spot for spring break. Love the forced proximity. And I really enjoyed the way their story developed over that time. The second part of the story is when they return and have to go back to working together. I really didn't want to story to end.

Why oh why would of put a math classroom besides the music class? Katy has a problem with the way Mack acts and handles stuff so she has never liked him and it doesn't help they classrooms are beside each other. But she's leaving that behind for a spring break with her best friend. Only she's sick so now se must go along but no matter its going to be a good time. But what would you know the air bnb gets doubled book and she's stuck with Mack from school. Like hell she's leaving this is her vacation and he's not leaving either. So they make a plan to just co exist until.

Easier said then done. I like the call back to old books and characters. I get his laid back attitude and your classrooms being side by side I'd hate it to. And you think in the beginning he's just floating through life but the more the story unfolds you get he's a generally a nice person. She is stressed and type A (but she had to always be the adult) but once she relaxes a little and opens up she gets the fun part of life. This was a cute book.

But if you are smart don't read the blurb at the beginning of the book its clingy

Thank you Netgalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest onion.

I absolutely loved the dual point of view, and the narrators had great voices. The story moved at a great pace.

I loved this hilarious and heartfelt frenemy to lovers romance! It is filled with witty banter, awkward and hilarious situations, and a sweet and sizzling storyline with lots of heart. Mack and Katy are complete opposites, raised in completely different ways. Mack is an easy going, fun music teacher and Katy is a math teacher who has had to be the responsible person all her life. Their rooms are next to each other and the fun coming from the next room is distracting for Katy and her students. Katy and Mack have a contentious relationship, especially since Mack likes to egg her on. But underneath they are both wildly attracted to each other. When a mix-up happens on spring break, they are forced to spend time together, breaking down all their barriers. They see each other for who they really are and give in to their fiery chemistry. But what happens when vacation is over and they have go back to 'real life'? Can these two opposites find their way to each other? I laughed out loud so many times at the hilarious and awkward moments, and swooned over Mack's many sweet gestures, making me fall hard for both Mack and Katy. They were so good for each other, helping each other open their hearts to love, and their chemistry was off the charts.
Alexander Cendese, and CJ Bloom did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the clever, and fast paced banter. They really brought out the push/pull between both Mack and Katy, and allowed us to experience their strengths and vulnerabilities. They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.

Light and funny story. It was a little bit hard to connect with the story at the beginning, I felt like all this enemies thing was quite exaggerated. But after their vacation started it was very enjoyable and interesting audiobook listen to. It may seem like characters (especially mmc) behave quite childish or not mature enough sometimes, but I liked how their “opposites attract” was developed. I was afraid that there will be some miscommunication or drama at the end, but the ending was really nice, I liked it. Mmc’s “support team” was really cute and funny.

Regarding the narration of the audiobook, it took me some time to get used to the voices, especially male’s one. For me the expressions of the emotions were quite cringey but in general it was ok.

The audiobook was provided by #NetGalley.

Katie had it all planned. She had everything planned. She was a planner! Katie was the sensible one in her family. The one who knew where the insurance details were kept (in the filing cabinet in mum's craft room). Katie is a beloved math teacher at a New York elementary school. But when her friend and fellow teacher, Anna, can no longer make it on their spring break trip to Florida, things start to go wrong. Or so it seems.

Mac is mister good times. Mister music teacher at the same elementary school as Katie. Mister saves woman's names in his phone with locations so he remembers who they are. He likes one-night stands as he has never really found someone to settle down with. He's never really felt 'those' sorts of feelings. But, he's off to Florida for spring break and he can't wait. He is soon settling in at the condo he rented for the week when he walks in on Katie in the shower. He always knew she was smoking hot, but now she is smoking mad!

This is a funny, heartfelt forced proximity story between two teachers. When Katie becomes reliant on Mac due to an injury, things start to heat up and I loved it. There are surprises and cameos from so many of Max Monroe's previous books that the whole book has you giggling. I listened to this as an audio book and loved it. Both narrators, Alexander Cendese and CJ Bloom are excellent. The spice was delightful and really well narrated. I sure hope there is another in this series!

Big thanks to NetGalley and Max Monroe for this early release audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

An adorable sweet humorous romance that is fast paced and with the perfect doses of humor, romance, sexual scenes. I listened to the audiobook and I have to admit the narrators were amazing adding up to the experience.

Katy and Mack both work as teachers in the same elementary school. They accidentally find themselves in the same rental home during their vacation week and ultimately decide to share the space. But is it really a good idea to spend so much time with a person that's your polar opposite ? Is it true that, in fact, opposites attract ?

Before diving into my review, two actual quotes from the book that summarize my thoughts perfectly :

"Dramatic monologue[s] of cinematic proportions"

"I almost wanna laugh at how predictable this situation really is"

Well yes, no, this wasn’t a book for me. All books aren't meant to be masterpieces that will be remembered and admired by many generations to come. This book is one of them, the equivalent of an average/low quality Hallmark movie that you'll watch one day and forget about soon after. There's just nothing about it that is good enough or original enough ...
There is, however, some seriously cringy, eye-roll inducing things that I must talk about in this review :

Katy : I get that she's supposed to be the orderly mature one (Vs. The slightly chaotic, happy-go-lucky Mack), but she was downright neurotic and, yes I'll say it, hyterical. Listening to her chapters wasn’t fun, she was irritating as hell and was really "too much", to the point where you just can’t see why Mack is trying so hard.

The meeting : NO. Call the police, take these two writers to jail. The whole chapter where Mack goes to a meeting where grownass men talk about relationships like teen-girls, assuring him that his situationship with Katy is a "classic ennemies-to-lover trope" and fight like little kids about writing and reading romance and EVEN MENTION THE AUTHORS OF THIS BOOK ... IN THIS BOOK ? THEY LITTERALLY TALKED ABOUT MAX MORGAN ?! (Men are immature and talk all the time about stupid things and can totally like "typically girly things" YES, but you just gotta make an effort to make it look credible when you write about it.)

A small word about the narrators : I saw some comments that weren’t so happy with them, especially the male voice, and I must admit that I too struggled a bit before I realized that they were making an excellent job because this really IS how neurotic Katy and annoying Mack would speak ! I'm not even trying to be ironic : they were on point.

Thank you NetGalley and the authors for giving me access to this audiobook for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

So I really liked the premise of this book and the characters. Their history and story was so cute and I loved the vacation in one condo. I just can't get excited behind the surprise pregnancy trope no matter how much I like the characters so that knocked it down a bit for me.

Overall a cute story and it was fun to see some old favorites.

The only other thing is that I wasn't crazy about the male narrator's female voice. They all sounded the same and were all super high pitched and whiny.

This was a fun and cute read! I enjoyed the playful banter and the storyline. This was my first by the authors and won’t be my last!

I can’t wait to read accidental attachment! I also loved the shout out to the author in the book 😂 finished this is one sitting.

Definitely a Max Monroe title! Interesting and sexy! Also all the feels and laughs! This duo keeps bringing it title after title and I can’t get enough. I would definitely recommend to a friend. I really loved this one! Perfection.

Max Monroe promises laugh out loud comedy in the preface to Best Frenemies... and they deliver! I did literally laugh out loud, and it was wonderful.

Both Katy and Mack were instantly likable, and it was fun watching them get together. The physical romance in a Max Monroe book never disappoints either.

I listened to the audiobook version of Best Frenemies and enjoyed the performance of both CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese. Their voices fit the characters, and their lively delivery kept the story moving at a fast pace. Very nice.
