First time I read one of Max books, and I will definitely read some more! When I first started I wasn’t sure what to expect, it definitely took a turn of events. Had me wondering what would happen, a bit cliche though as I assumed what happened would. BUT the ending did surprise me a tiny bit, didn’t expect that exact ending! Overall cute, spicy, & funny which are my favorite categories!
Fun read, easy and light hearted. Enjoyable characters and interesting storyline. I really loved Mack’s fun loving character. I always like Max Monroe books, and this was no exception.
It's banter between two teachers that don't get along. At times, the banter and the self-talk can be a little overwhelming or annoying. Enemies to lover, force proximity. Overall, it was a solid read if you enjoy over the top expressions and dialog among characters. The spicy scenes were 2.5/3 out of 5.
This was an audio arc read by netgalley.
Coworkers, Katy and Mack, accidentally find themselves sharing a condo on what was supposed to be a relaxing spring break from their stressful teaching careers. Mack doesn’t seem to mind, in fact he seems amused by the mix up. However, Katy is LIVID she does not want her dream vacation ruined by man-child Mack. Slowly, Katy begins seeing Mack in a different light. Will they have a happily ever after? Or is this a spring break fling?
This was my FIRST Max Monroe book and I loved it. It was told in dual POV (Katy & Mack) and the audiobook had separate voices for each of them. It was such an easy listen, I never once found myself zoning out or bored. I felt like this book had a good amount of angst, sweet, and spice!
I definitely recommend this book to others looking for an easy romance read with a bit of spice—especially those that love a good enemies to lovers / forced proximity story. I can’t wait to read more for Max Monroe—officially a fan!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ALC!
Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
This was a cute, quick read. The main characters have you rooting for them pretty quickly, and the narrators were good. I would read more of these!
**please note due to low rating I will not be leaving a public review for this book as I have not paid for it.**
Narrated by CJ Bloom ⭐⭐⭐, Alexander Cendese ⭐
by Max Monroe ⭐
Sorry this story was absolutely no for me. Put Simply .... It tried waaay to hard and I found that incredibly off putting and the male narrator was truly terrible.
This is my first time trying this author and I don't think I would be in a hurry to try another book.
I just love Max Monroe! They really can do no wrong, I am so invested in the Billionaire boys that the slightest mention of any of them (especially Thatch) have me totally invested in that book. This books had just enough of Thatch to pull me in. But I didn’t even need that. I loved the frenemies theme and the characters. Watch their relationship change and grow was great. I listened to this in audiobook format and like usual CJ Bloom makes it that much better!
This was such a fun read and this audiobook was so good. The narrators were both so good. Both Alexander Cendese & CJ Bloom made the story sound amazing and made the story more funny. Its an enemies to lovers romcom, everyone should read or listen to this book.
This audiobook was amazing! Max Monroe had me laughing throughout this book.. Katy and Mack are both such great characters. It’s always a good time when Thatcher Kelly makes an appearance! The narration was perfect for the book!
Thank you to author, Max Monroe LLC for the audiobook listen. All thoughts and opinions of the book are my own.

Never heard of Max Monroe, but it will not be my last time delving into more works by this author. “Best Frenemies” was an entertaining and delightful audiobook listen for this reader. I loved Big Mack and Katy Kat as enemies to frenemies to lovers in this story and a forced proximity trope helped this relationship evolve to a very nice HEA. There was plenty of chemistry between the main characters, as well as humor and witty banter between the two. Narration by CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese was wonderfully done. Overall, enjoyable book that had laughable moments. Looking forward to reading Accidental Attachment. Recommend the audiobook listen.
This book was a lot of fun!
This book is humorous. Mac is fun and can be matter of fact.
Katy’s frustration is understandable. That classroom set up would drive a lot of teachers nuts.
The vacation is funny and I like watching the characters grow close together. I also like that there is some initial attraction and that it’s not a total I hate you to I love you.
I also like how you get story away from the vacation, that the characters continue to grow in their real lives and it’s not a vacation fling bliss.
There were a couple things at the end that were a bit much and too fast for me.
Overall, very fun book!
This book was an absolute delight!
Enemies to lovers that made me laugh. I'm in.
I adored Katy and Mack. He got under her skin so much, and when they end up having to share a rental on a school break, I knew it would be good.
I like how he brought out a different side of Katy.
Loved!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.
"Best Frenemies" by Max Monroe offers an enticing premise that had the potential for greatness, but it falls a bit short, resulting in a three-star review. The story revolves around the unexpected cohabitation of two frenemies on a beach getaway, which promises a blend of 'The Hating Game' and 'The Unhoneymooners.' While the premise was intriguing, the overall execution left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
The story is undeniably entertaining, offering a humorous and spicy narrative that keeps you engaged. The protagonists had undeniable chemistry, and their transformation from foes to a vacation fling was swift and fiery. However, this swift transition, though amusing, felt somewhat lacking in depth. The focus on slapstick humor often overshadowed the potential for a more profound emotional connection between the characters.
Furthermore, what left me particularly unsatisfied was the post-fling phase of their relationship. The story primarily emphasizes the physical aspect of their connection, which became repetitive and lacked emotional depth. I wished for a more substantial exploration of their relationship beyond the initial sparks.
Lastly, the audiobook narration by Alexander Cendese was a downside, particularly his portrayal of female characters, which sounded whiny and grating.
"Best Frenemies" is an entertaining read with a promising premise, but it relies heavily on humor and lacked the emotional depth and character development that could have made it exceptional. While it offers a vacation fling that's fun to follow, it left me wanting more in terms of the depth and emotional connection between the characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
I was pretty mixed on this book, it was an easy to listen to audio book and the narrators weren’t bad. I listened to it in one sitting. It did seem fairly predictable and the mention of “enemies to lovers story” was slightly annoying. Overall it wasn’t horrible, easy to follow and had some spicy scenes. I like it, but wasn’t a favorite unfortunately.
I really liked the description of this book and the story didn’t disappoint. It was an enjoyable listen with really great interaction between Katie and Mac. The 2 narrators did a great job. Would recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early release of this book.
This is the second audiobook I have read by Max Monroe and I can't get enough. This was a great enemies to lovers story. I loved the spice, the laugh out loud moments and the warm fuzzy feelings I got from this book. I also loved the cover of this book. This book was narrated by CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese. I felt like they did a wonderful job telling this story as well. I highly recommend this book! I also recommend Accidental Attachment as well.
Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe for allowing me to listen to this ARC for my honest opinion.
I love Katy & Mack. Enemies to lovers. Forced proximity. She is the grumpy to his sunshine. Workplace romance. All of the best tropes in one book 😍 Both were attracted to each other well before they ended up on the same spring break vacation but once they decided to see where things go, the story really started to heat up. Mack is a complete sweetheart and in the running for perfect book boyfriend. I devoured this book in a day, I just couldn’t put it down.
The audio was perfect for this one. The two narrators did a great job! It was incredibly easy to follow and bingeable. The ending was perfect and I wish there was more!
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for an advance audiobook of Best Frenemies by Max Monroe in exchange of an honest review.
"I cannot express how much I adored 'Best Frenemies' by Max Monroe. The banter between the characters was downright hilarious, and the amount of spice in this book had me fanning myself. The plot was masterfully crafted, and the inclusion of familiar characters from 'Accidental Attachment' only added to the fun. It's rare to find a book that combines a forced proximity and enemies-to-lovers romance with such wit and authenticity. 'Best Frenemies' is an absolute gem that I'll be recommending to everyone I know!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This book provided in exchange for an honest review.
Katy and Mack have a tempestuous relationship, especially at the school they work for. They each have a relaxing vacation planned during their break from school. What they didn’t plan on, was being double booked in the same house. Only time will tell if they can survive the week.
Max Monroe knows how to write witty banter. Toss in some pop culture references and I am here for it. I loved the relationship Mack built with Katy’s dad. This book had some of my favorite tropes (see list below).
I didn’t care for the note at the beginning, or the male narrator.
Overall, an enjoyable book, and it made me laugh.
Tropes: enemies to lovers, co-workers, friends with benefits, he takes care of her, unexpected pregnancy, forced proximity, only one bed, he falls first
Best Frenemies, by Max Monroe was a book I was excited to listen too, however, I was challenged with this book, if I'm being honest. I liked the premise of the story, but somehow, I felt there was a disconnect that I can't explain. The authors were fine, but didn't give me any wow factor, which I think was just due to me not being into the story. I really wanted to love this story, as I am a fan of the author, but even with trying to engage myself every time I started listening, I just couldn't do it. I did make it to the end of the book, but was hoping for something to catch my interest, but to no avail.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to listen and review this audiobook.
