I love Max Monroe and this book did not disappoint. Mack and Katy are teachers who are frenemies. She is a classroom teacher and he is the music teacher, whose classroom is right next to hers. She can’t wait to get away to the beach and be far away from Mack. He actually likes Katy and can’t figure out why she dislikes him so much.
When they end up booking the same place for their vacation things get interesting. I wish I could have a frenemy like Mack. He is actually really nice and altruistic. While spending time together they see new sides to the other. There are some pretty hilarious moments in this book but just as many tender moments.
I liked seeing Thatch and the crew and getting to know Mack and Katy. I can’t wait to see what Max Monroe come up with next. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing Mack and Katy to life. They had me listening late into the evening and I will definitely listen to more books narrated by these two again. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
Blurb: Going tit for tat with the man you hate is all fun and games until things get literal…and the jerk sees you naked.
My beach getaway was only supposed to include three things: relaxation, wine, and fun in the sun.
Mack Houston, on the other hand, should have never—ever—been involved.
In no uncertain terms, he’s the bane of my existence.
The thorn in my side.
The sexy Mr. Good-Time Guy who drives me up the wall and my work archnemesis for the past five years.
He’s the last person I want to get stuck anywhere with—it’s bad enough that I have to see him every day at work—and yet, because of a booking error (or curse of the universe, as I like to call it), I’m stuck in the same vacation rental with him for an entire week.
I’m going to end up in jail. Or worse, I might just give in to the insane urge to find out if his lips are really as kissable as they look. One way or the other, disaster feels imminent.
Review: I was happy to get the opportunity to review another Max Monroe book. They write funny, sexy, books such as this one. In Best Frenemies we get to enjoy enemies to lovers and forced proximity tropes. Both of which I enjoy. Told from both perspectives the reader gets to enjoy how the characters yearn for and fall for each other. Full of witty and sexy banter this is a must read. Also, as this was an audiobook, I must say the narration by CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese did not disappoint. However I did find the male character was presented more as a bro and a bit immature. Still very enjoyable overall. Another Max Monroe must read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Max Monroe for the opportunity to listen to this ALC.
If you listen to Best Frenemies on audio, you should heed the warning they give you at the beginning about not listening to this title in public. I did not, and I was trying to control myself at a doctor's office.
Katy and Mac are teachers at the same school. Their classrooms are next to each other. Katy teaches math and Mac teaches music and Katy cannot stand Mac and his antics and loud classes. It's almost spring break and they both have beach trips planned - not together. Katy arrives at her condo and decides to unwind and shower. Mac arrives at his condo and pops open a bottle of wine to chill out... that is, until he hears the shower running in the master bedroom. It's all downhill from there...
This book was SO funny. So many laugh out loud moments! I love how sweet Mac is and how everyone loves him immediately - except for Katy. I identified with Katy a lot being Type A and wanting things to go a certain way. I will say that this book has one of my least favorite tropes included but I really enjoyed the way it was done in this book.
If you're looking for a lighthearted read that will make you laugh, Best Frenemies is it!
Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a fun read that I just charged right through because of how enjoyable it was. Enemies to lovers plus coworkers?! Yes please, sign me up for all the good times here!!
Katy is super relatable to me - Type A, in her own head about things, pretty particular. Mack is quite the opposite with an easy going personality, very likable and charming, flirtatious. He drives Katy up the wall, especially since they are coworkers and teach in neighbor classrooms.
These two end up at the same place for Spring Break - Destin, FL… and in the same exact house! I used to vacation in Destin a lot, so that was fun to imagine being back there again. This book would definitely be a great vacation read - spring, summer or fall!
I love the friends that help them with relationship advice - Mack’s guy friends that advise him on what he’s doing wrong and how to fix things and make grand gestures. The book trope references from the guys are funny as well!
Pick this up for a fun enemies to lovers romance involving coworkers, hilarious helpful friends, and a spontaneous road trip.

I LOVE Max Monroe books and I'm an utter simp for Alexander Cendese.
Best Frenemies is right on the edge of middle life (MCs aged 30-50) which is my current reading fixation.
This book was so much fun I adored the set up and the premise that both the MMC and FMC vibe'd the other reluctantly, even the oopsie baby didn’t put me off.
Super easy listen and completely entertaining.
Listed to it on a plane…cackled to myself for hours. I have no regrets.

CJ bloom and Alexander Cendese play the part of Kathy and Mack and bring us this two wonderful characters
Kathy and Mack both work in a school one is a math teacher and the other one a music teacher. And Kathy loathe Mack because she believe Mack is obnoxious and uses his charm to charm his way out of things. Then they are assign to work together on a project and Kathy isn't happy about it. When they accidently wind up booking the same vacation rental from a friend over spring break Kathy realizes there more to Mack and Mack find himself liking Kathy as well instead of a man hater.
The banter between this two is awesome and the vacation fling and the advice from previous character and appearance as well love ever single of it.
This one was cute! The audiobook was not it for me though. I could not handle Mac's narrator voice. I switched to a digital copy on my kindle app.
Katy and Mac are complete opposites. While they teach at the same school, Katy is the sweet and proper math teacher while Mac is the fun and loud music teacher. They don't exactly get along at work so ending up at the same vacation house? A bit of a disaster. As they are forced to spend more time together, Katy sees a different side of Mac and the doors opens for a possible romance... will these opposites attract?
What can I say, I'm a sucker for all the tropes in this one. Sweet and steamy scenes + humour make this a fun and easy read.
Read if you like:

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
If you don’t want to laugh then you might want to skip this one. It’s was silly funny without being overly so. This one is a work place, opposites attract, enemies to lovers. There’s a little forced proximity thrown in for good measure. It would definitely be a good palate cleanser. Or follow up after a heavy read. I listened to an ARC of the audio through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the narration except when the male narrator was doing his cousin Thatcher’s voice. It was too overdone. Other than that, it sounded good.
Listen as an audiobook and CJ Bloom and Alexander Cendese were great narrators. They fit the story well. Kudos guys!
I couldn’t relax into this until about 35%. Katy had my nerves on edge. The emergency was just what she needed and thankfully it made her take a minute. Talk about someone being uptight, this girl won a the gold medal.
What I loved:
• Twinkies, KitKats, Big Macs and “Repeats”.
• Donna Summer
• Steamy parts
Cute, adorable and very fun. I loved Mack, can I borrow him??
Thanks MaxMonroe via NetGalley. This was a hit!
Fun and easy read. Quite enjoyable. I don't quite know why Katy never liked Mack. There was no real reason. From reading the description you would have thought there was something really big but I really don't think there was anything. Also, I found that her dislike for him didn't last long and she got over it quick. So not a bad book but just kept waiting for the "hate" between them that never really came and I felt like the author was trying to hard to make it seem like it was there.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc.
Thanks so much to the authors for the eARC. Thanks to NetGalley and That’s What She Said Publishing for the ALC. Swipe for book blurb.

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Steamy romcom goodness!
🤩 Read the blurb if you want; otherwise, go in blind. I cannot be the one to spoil this for you.
🤩 Elementary school teachers.
🤩 Florida beach condo vacation—unexpected forced proximity.
🤩 Frenemies-to-lovers.
🤩 Nickname awesomeness.
🤩 Laugh-out-loud funny, like bust out laughing.
🤩 This book is so deserving of a Mack Houston’s Friday coffee delivery picture. I’m so sorry I failed. Mack is total book boyfriend material.
🤩 Katy Dayton on pain meds
🤩 Fantastic characterization, and I adore both MCs.
🤩 The steam is detailed and hot and sensual and everything! You bet I listened to certain chapters twice, especially ones involving good girl and made for me.
🤩 The narration is so entertaining and perfectly cast.
🤩 CJ Bloom (she’s such a favorite of mine) when she says the title—best frenemies—my smile was ginormous. And, she deserves an award for her Katy Dayton on pain medication performance.
🤩 Alexander Cendese does a fabulous fun guy, high energy, everybody’s favorite, art teacher.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 This hilarious and hot beauty of a romcom book deserves an illustrated cover of cuteness, but that’s just me. The real cover is actually beautiful—coffee table worthy.
💫 I wish there was some steam after the drama.
The Max Monroe books I've read so far are always a bit spicier than I like, but their stories are always so great that I still pick them up anyway, and this one is no exception. The humor is well-balanced with the serious issues the main characters face, and this was no different with Matt and Kat.
While they are co-workers teaching in the same elementary school, that's about all they seem to have in common at the start. Kat is overly responsible and uptight. Matt is the favorite music teacher all the kids love. He rubs her the wrong way from day one. But it's not until they get double-booked at their vacation rental and are forced to spend the week together that Kat begins to wonder if that friction might not just feel pretty good in all the wrong ways.
As intent as Kat is on keeping Matt shut out of her life (and her heart), he has other plans. And a battle of wills ensues.
So, if you enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, this is a good one to check out. I laughed out loud more times than I can count, which is what keeps me coming back to Max Monroe. Just beware the spice level is HOT!
Thanks to Max Monroe and NetGalley for an advance review copy.
This was a classic fun and flirty Max Monroe book. Love a spring break book that isn't focused on college or high school kids, and Mac and Katie are both such relatable characters.
Hot take coming at you -Max Monroe is Rom Com vibes. There were several times while listening to Best Frenemies that I could hardly breathe because I was laughing so hard.
Katie is looking forward to her spring break with sun, sand and peace and quiet from her teaching job... especially the loud music teacher Mac. But what no one, including Katie could have expected is her vacation rental being double-booked by none other than Mac. Things start off rocky but slowly Katie starts to see another side of Mac...or maybe it's been there and she just refused to see it.
There is something for everyone in this book. I listened to the audio version and CJ Bloom and Alexander did a fantastic job of elevating this story. The hospital scene will stay with me forever...and ever.
What happens when a math teacher and a music teacher from the same school get over booked at the same condo over spring break? Shenanigans that’s what!
Katee and Mack were so much fun to listen to. Mack is the music teacher, invested in his students and community & Katie is the straight laced math teacher next door. I so enjoyed how they interacted. Mack is such a sweetheart. If you like cinnamon roll guys add him to your must read men. Do you love forced proximity, witty banter, dual points of view and found family? I suggest reading this book. It includes one other love to hate trope so if you have questions DM me and I’ll answer y/n. I thought it was well done. Max Monroe does hilarious romcoms well. They use some real life experiences to pull from for this book. Check the dedication on this one.
Thank you to Max Monroe and That's What She Said Publishing for the Advanced Reading Copy. This is my honest opinion.
A good frenemy romance is one of my favorite tropes. This one was done very well. The personalities of Katy and Mack are very different and cause a lot of friction between them. Add on top of this the rom com writing style and you have a great fun frenemy romance. I liked both characters from the start. I enjoyed their chemistry when each let their guards down. It was a fun read. The side characters added a nice level of comedy too! I will definitely read more from this author. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Best Frenemies is what Max Monroe's does best! Unexpected chemistry and a fun story. Katie and Mack grind themselves with crisis, a birthday, and forced proximity. This is a recipe for attraction, hilarity, and a really sweet HEA
While this one was completely hilarious and cute, it just didn’t have that wow factor for me. It was a quick, cute romance though!
This was my first Max Monroe book and it won't be my last! This book was fun and sexy and laugh out loud funny! I enjoyed Mack and Katy's banter. I loved how Katy thought she hated Mack only to realize that her hate was really love. Watching Katy battle her feelings and Mack trying to woo her let to some funny moments. These two were insanely hot and a lot of fun.
The narrators did a great job with this story. I loved listening to them. It really brought the story to life!
Cute enemies to casual to lovers romance. If you like Penny Reid, you’ll like Max Monroe! Based on the author’s note, I expected to laugh out loud a lot. I didn’t, but that may have been due to the voices of the audio readers. I listened to this one and I’m quite picky about the voices. Two readers with lots of characters. I did like this rom-com with Mac and Katy, but I think I’d like it a lot more if I had read it myself. I loved how Katy’s dad and Mac… bros! And Gracie :-)
