I have, obviously, chosen not to finish this title and review it. I was not able to connect with the characters.

I apologize for the lateness of this review, I was gong through notes and making sure all had been updated and found some really old DNF titles that needed to be at least acknowledged.

Thank you, albeit very late, for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Thank you for my eARC of this book. Firstly, I love this author in all her iterations, and love the mix of genres and themes covered. This book was interesting in premise, and though it isn’t my favourite of hers, it was engaging.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I went into it with zero expectations and just was along for the ride, but I was completely blown away by this book. I could not put it down. A Divided Heart was originally published under the title Black Lies. The twists and turns had me gasping out loud. Even though I saw some of it coming. Just when I thought it was over the new and final epilogue came along, and I had to pick my jaw off the floor.

If you like spicy romances and psychological thrillers, be sure to check this one out!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me a digital copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

It's interesting how the author narrates the story in the third person and often leaves parts unsaid to heighten the tension, which isn't immediately obvious. The story's strength is that it maintains a high level of intrigue and the tension never lets up. However, in the last chapter, as the story becomes more detailed, my interest waned a little. I think the reason is that since the writing was vague in the beginning, when it started to be more specific during the second part of the book some parts were skipped to focus only on the main ones.
I liked the way the characters were portrayed. Although Layana seems to be a typical wealthy woman, she uses her status to help others, which I found admirable, especially her work at the charity center. Brant, on the other hand, remains a mystery until the end of the story, and it's impressive how the author develops his background. While Layana drives the story forward at the beginning, it's Brant who unravels the mysteries at the end. This couple pleasantly surprised me because I was expecting to find two adults with teenage neurons in heat, but the way the story is told nailed it. Honestly, Layana has all my respect, even though at one point I expected to see her in crazy land.
Overall, 'A Divided Heart' is a captivating read, especially for those who like unexpected twists.

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

WOW! This book completely blew me away as all of Alessandra Torres’s books have done to me! I have yet to be disappointed! I didn’t see the big twist coming at all and threw my kindle on the couch to digest everything before I could continue! I would definitely recommend this book if you like spicy romance, mystery, and psychological thrillers! I already have a list of people in my head to make read this next!

I remember the earlier version of the book (Black Lies) and this new updated version is a great remind of why I got into Alessandra Torre's books in the first place. She really knows how to write a twisty sexy story.

There aren’t enough words in the universe to convey how much I adore Alessandra Torre’s writing and the books. So, when I found out about A divided heart, I couldn’t be stopped. My heart almost combusted. This was everything and more I lovee about Torres’ book.

Wow!!! This book had me gripped from the very start!! It was fun and kept me intrigued the whole time. I went in completely blind which I think is the best way! The twist was a WILD one that completely changes the story and makes you question everything you know! However I have seen this kind of twist in other books/story’s so didn’t hit me has hard!

Those unfamiliar with Alessandra Torre's work be forewarned, these are normally pretty spicy and almost always have taboo elements! This had a fun love triangle and incredible twists. I loved these characters and had a hard time putting it down as I couldn't wait to know the ending.

Layana meets sweet, loyal, tech-billionaire Brant at a party and they immediately hit it off despite his aunt doing everything in her power to keep them apart and for a few happy years everything's perfect they're thinking of marriage and kids and spending their future together. Then Layana meets gardener Lee, who doesn't have a penny to rub together, spends his spare time drinking and fighting and hooking up with women and she falls head over heels. She needs Lee in her life and will do everything to get him but she can't give up Brant as she loves and needs him too. Dont judge her as her story is unlike any youve heard before. Can you ever love two people at the same time without it ending in heartbreak?

I read this story as Black Lies a few years ago and it stuck with me because this book is unlike anything I've read before. Rereading it I still felt the anxiety and heartbreak I felt the first time. I felt for each character though I think I felt worse for Lee this time around. This story will make you think about how you'd deal with things if you were in Layanas position and honestly I think I'd go the same way she did. This is a great romance read and I love Alessandra Torres writing. I highly recommend even if you've already read the original.

A Divided Heart by Alessandra Torre

My rating:
4/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Brant / Lee / Layana

Layana is in love with two men, but this story does not end how you think.

Wow wow wow this book was spicy and I was so sucked in! I was not sure how this book would go, I just read the first page and was instantly intrigued.

I love A.R Torre books, so this did not disappoint. This was less of a thriller than her normal books written under that name. I believe when she uses her full name, the books are more spicy than thrillers?

When the main part of the story is revealed, I sadly started to lose interest after my audible gasp, completely not expecting what happened. While i loved being shocked, the story was SO good until 70% and then I got bored and thought it dragged on a bit.

I have a very personal connection to this story, which made me overthink some parts of it as the main plot was something I experienced with a close family member.

With that being said, the author’s note said she did lots of research but took some artistic liberties and changed some details.

Overall if you are looking for a spicy book with characters that have secrets they want hidden, give this one a read!

This is a re-release of a book called Black Lies, which I believe was updated with a higher word count and extended epilogue.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC!

Thank you NetGalley for the eArc copy of this book.

I appreciated the elements the author has put together. The twist and turns and the ending 😭.

If you want an emotional roller-coaster and the suspense/build up that keeps you on the edge of your seat. You can count on this!

A Divided Hearts is a suspenseful romance that has some dark and taboo topics. I definitely took some time to think about this story and how I felt about it. I did find this story attention grabbing, the suspense in this story never let up, and I was so engaged in wanting to find out where this story was leading. I had so many emotions it was a real roller coaster. That being said, there were a number of aspects that I did not enjoy, mainly surrounding the romance and relationship of the main characters. I did not like the dynamics between or really the development. I did like the plot and the twists and turns. I decided to rate this book a 3 stars. While I did not hate this book it definitely left me with some mixed emotions and this book is not for me.
I received an advanced ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion.

This was a great love triangle, spicy read! I devoured this book in one day! There were some twists and it had a really good story line. Sometimes the spicy books lack that, but this one definitely did not! The characters were well written and I just really loved how this book played out and I can’t wait to read more from Alessandra Torre!

I had a really hard time with this one. I was drawn to this book for the hot romance, mystery, and love triangle. I would start reading, get confused, give up and try again. I did this SEVERAL times. I had a hard time keeping up with timelines and everything felt all over the place for me. I gave up completely after I read 20% of the book. I would still try another book from this author. This particular story just wasn't for me.

Ms. Torre continues to wrap me up in the warm blanket of steamy, spicy stories that have amazing and mind-bending twists. I read this in less than a day, which is not something I do often as I am very busy.

The characters are skillfully crafted, each with their own complex lives and secrets. Layana's picture-perfect life is filled with its own passionate betrayal and success as she tries to forge her own destiny. The entire story I felt myself caring about each and every character.

I am a SUCKER for a good love triangle and this one hits allllll the spots for me. It was scorching hot and beautifully intriguing. If you like a book that has a lot of spicy scenes, this is perfect for you. The author even adds enticing mystery into the story that keeps the plot at a constant climax (pun fully intended). Alessandra Torre is masterful at her art and I will always and forever read anything she puts out.

I am so thankful for receiving this book via NetGalley. This is one that will live in my head rent-free for the rest of forever.

Yes! Alessandra Torre's books always strike a positive chord with me. I inhaled A Divided Heart in one day. In my opinion, it was a brilliant storyline with some clever twists and originality. I would recommend that readers go in to the book without reading too many reviews to keep from having the plot spoiled.

I didn't realize this was an updated version of a previous book that I hadn't read before. What I do know is that it mesmerized me. Were a few things a bit of a stretch as far as being realistic? Maybe, but it was still quite enjoyable to read. And when I'm reading for enjoyment, I don't need it to be grounded in reality but I know some people do.

I'm not going to delve into the plot because I refuse to risk any spoilers. Just know that it's a different kind of romance. And it's well worth the read.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Ok so this one was weird and well even after finishing it. Yes I did not DNF this one. I still can't wrap my head around the insanity that this book is. If you are looking for something with a major twist that will make you say 'wait what' then this one might be for you. For me it took a mental health issue and kind of tossed it into the wood chipper. It is all kinds of messed up.
