An adorable picture book, with a very important message. It's perfect to be read aloud for a kindness story time!
Race to Kindness is a cute picture book about the importance of kindness. What is even cooler is that this book is written by the 202021 kid of the year. The illustrations are full of color and characters of varied abilities showcasing diversity. The book outlines rules to being kind: keep your eyes open, include others, nothing is too small

Race to Kindness is a great book that should be in every class room across America. It has beautiful illustrations and the use of rhymes throughout the book helps bring the message across to young readers. Race to Kindness shows us how we can help change the world through kindness, empathy and compassion. Everyone should read this book and not just children. Adults can learn a lot from this book on how to be kind to others and doing good for others. Thank you NetGalley, Zonderkidz and Orion Jean for the ARC to review. I am leaving this review on my own and is my own opinion.

I wish I could give this book ten stars and see it placed in every child's home! Authored by a nine-year-old boy, this book on kindness is well written, fun to read, and has plenty of examples of acts of kindness that children can both relate to and easily do. The beautiful illustrations by Darshika Varma are very inclusive, colorful, and engaging and complete the wonderfulness of the overall book.
A great gift for the child(ren) you love!

I expected this to be another run-of-the-mill Be Kind book, which are all good and needed, but don't vary much. This one is very unique and inspiring. It is a fun and engaging book to read aloud and has Sparking Ideas at the end to help inspire active kindness. The illustrations flow along with the text wonderfully.
Aw, a race to cuteness. The message is adorable. The story in the book (prose/tips) are authentic and the illustrations are a great fit for the message and advice included. They are both represented in a unique way, at times mentioning situations to be kind where we often overlook. Knowing that the writer is a child who promotes kindness is all the more inspiring.
Thank you to NetGalley and Zonderkidz for providing me an ARC for this book. As agreed upon, here is my honest review:
This is such a cute book with wonderful meaning. I listened to the ALC version of this book and knew I had to get my hands on an ARC of it! I believe there is great value to audiobooks for children and most people overlook it, but in this case I found the audiobook to leaving me unfulfilled. I just HAD to know what the illustrations were like. While waiting for a copy, I developed so many expectations about this book and at one point told myself that I was being unfair.
When I received the ARC, I jumped in right away. Let's just say that I was not disappointed at all! My expectations were extremely high and this book still blew them out of the water. The message to be kind to others is beautifully captured in the words and illustrations! I highly recommend this book and think that it would be wonderful in a classroom when expectations of being kind to classmates is being addressed.
I received an electronic ARC from Zonderkidz through NetGalley.
Orion Jean has done remarkable work in his Races to Kindness. He has collected toys, meals, books to help others. He offers his thoughts on being kind and asks others to be kind as well. He takes each letter in the word kind and offers a saying that begins with the letter. This helps readers connect to ways to be kind. Lovely illustrations capture the energy and love involved. Terrific book for young families to read together.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!!! I can't wait to use this with my students, recommend it to colleagues and families and give it as a gift.
From start to finish the illustrations were colorful, the language was appropriate and the message was perfect. I really liked that the story gave a variety of suggestions of different ways to be kind to others and even related it to the reader's own feelings. This is the perfect book to use with kids of all ages to teach kindness and ways to help others.
I also love that the story was written by a young person and it spoke of his accomplishments. He is so inspiring and kids will really relate to him.

Cover and Illustrations are really cute, simple yet engaging. Like the predictability of the rhyming phrases also make it engaging for children.
The tale of kindness and acceptance in this story is truly delightful. I will absolutely be looking to purchase this book for our school library and using it to teach lessons. Cute illustrations and a very powerful message.
I really enjoyed how colorful this story was, with great rhymes and great details. Every picture told a story and the pacing was great. I also appreciate the information on the young author on the back. This book would be great for teaching kids about community advocacy!
Straight 5 stars for this one!

A really good picture book!
((Pst. I don't think I ever dislike a picture book or child book tho))
The vibe this book gives off: heartwarming. Cute. Straightforward. Inspirational.
The concept is fantastic: a race for doing kindness. So they (the kids) are competing with each other to do goodwill. A really brilliant idea, isn't it? For kids, it gives them a lot of fun experiences!
Plus, the illustrations are so pretty, and the word choices in each sentence beautifully convey that kindness can take many forms.
Helping someone with small things counts as an act of kindness too!
For parents, this book is a great tool to explain the concept of kindness ❤️
Super cute children’s book that focuses on being kind. One thing that I really like was how the book just KIND as a way to give reminders about ways to remember kindness as well as specific examples of ways that children can be kind and show kindness.

Race to Kindness is a great book that we all need.
This story is about being in a race to be kind. What a great race to join. The book uses the letters in K-I-N-D to remind us what we can do to help others. This book also reminds you how nice it feels when others are kind to us.
The illustrations in the book are really fun and colorful. We all need to be reminded of all the wonderful ways we can be kind and this book does just that. I plan to buy this book for a couple of families as gifts as soon as it is available.
