When a book is compared to Gone Girl and The Silent Patient, I will always read it! And to be honest, Cavanagh is one of my top 5 authors so I knew I would read this one without even reading a synopsis. Two women whose lives have been tragically altered meet and this thriller begins. This is a suspenseful revenge story with plenty of twists and turns. I highly recommend this thriller to everyone I meet!

This book is diabolical
It played with all my emotions to the very end.
I was so excited to get this. I’ve only read his legal thrillers so I wanted to delve into something new and I was not disappointed
This book is literally as the title said but with layers upon layers of twists and madness.
It’s perfectly structured, not too character heavy and told from multiple POVs so you get a complete picture with little room for misunderstanding.
You’ll draw every single conclusion, assume the unthinkable and you’ll get it wrong,
every single time🤯🤯
I loved this book. I did have a brief moment where some unfinished justice made my eye tic but it didn’t linger
Amazing work as always👏👏👏

This is my first read by this author & I will certainly be adding more to my TBR!

This story is told in alternating POVs between two women in opposite parts of NYC, Amanda and Ruth, who have each endured unimaginable pain & suffering at the hands of others. Amanda has suffered horrific familial loss & Ruth suffered through a home invasion where she was left for dead and now fears for her life.

Amanda is attending a counseling group for others who have gone through similar situations, which is where she meets Wendy. They go out for drinks & form a friendship. Neither believe that justice will be served unless those responsible for the deaths of their loved ones are dead themselves. They make a pact to each kill the other’s target & each will have an airtight alibi so that it doesn’t circle back to them.

Meanwhile, Ruth fears for her life every second of the day as the man who left her for dead, with piercing blue eyes & a voice she’ll never forget, is still roaming free and she fears he will come back to finish her off. This consumes her & takes a huge toll on her marriage.

This one is hard to get into without revealing spoilers. There are multiple twists that you won’t see coming! I didn’t & I’m always really good at seeing the twists coming. This is a bingeable quick-paced thriller that you will want to get your hands on ASAP. Jaw-dropping & mind-blowing – so far, the best thriller of 2024!

So. This was… interesting. Lots of twists and turns (some completely implausible????) but with an incredibly slow start. But once this picked up, it PICKED UP.

I’m honestly still not sure how I feel about this one? It was a really good twisty thriller. Some of the twists were fairly predictable. One was not but was also so implausible, I thought it was a joke? Normally I don’t look for realism in thrillers but this was a little much.

I also really struggled with the writing in some places. This had a lot of clunky prose and dialogue and read like a debut. So I was absolutely shocked to discover that the author has also written a beloved series….? Though I read several reviews that said it felt like this was written by a completely different person so that’s… interesting.

So. Was this thrilling and kept me entertained and turning the pages? Yes. Was it the best thriller I’ve ever read? No. It was… decent?

Thank you for coming to my wildly unhelpful review because I’m not sure what to make of this one. This did have lots of good points. I’m just not sure it wrapped us as well as I would’ve liked.

Anyway. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!

Wow! I was hooked from the very beginning and it definitely kept me guessing throughout! One of my hunches ended up being right but there were a lot of twists that definitely had me doubting myself and the story come together in a way that I didn’t expect! If you’re looking for a binge-worthy thriller do yourself a favor and add Kill For Me, Kill For You to your tbr!

Phew, this book really took me by pleasant surprise! I was on the fence about reading it based on the premise. While the whole Strangers on a Train thing is cool, it's not usually up my alley to read books from the POV of potential or actual killers. I like my mystery/thrillers to be about solving crimes rather than the MCs being the one committing them. (Maybe I have to rethink that a little bit and finally read THE KIND WORTH KILLING...)

As I said, I really wasn't planning on reading this... and then the buzz got to me. I decided I was in the mood for another thriller this month and it totally hit the spot. The premise involves two women who meet in a support group and eventually decide to kill each other's target. Both of their daughters were killed by predators who got off too easy. Doing it for each other ensures there's no connection between the person who actually wants them dead and the person who did the killing. There's also another woman in a separate storyline that has the reader wondering what the connection is; she was assaulted in her home when her husband was away for the night.

There are four POVs: one of the women (Amanda), the woman who was assaulted (Ruth) and her husband (Scott), and a detective working on the cases (Farrow). I really enjoyed reading all of them honestly and kept wondering what the hell the connection was between Ruth's story and everyone else's.

The reason this is a five-star thriller for me is because it was truly unpredictable. I did figure out one major thing but had no idea how or why it connected to everything else. There were just the right amount of twists and turns through the end without being overwhelming. I love how the author tied everything together and the timing of the reveals. The four points of view really added to the story, with two of them appearing a bit more than the others, and helped bring together all of the events in a fun way.

This book really made me think about humanity, revenge, and punishment. I think it goes beyond a traditional thriller in many ways because there are so many gray lines about these topics. You put yourself in their situation and try to figure out how you would react. Overall, such a great book with solid writing and twists!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

• super sharp thriller
• revengeful women
• multiple POV

Okay... this is the best thriller I've read in a WHILE! It's twisty, the characters are super complex, the plot is masterfully woven, and I just couldn't put it down. My jaw literally dropped with *that* twist!

Kill for Me, Kill for You is a fantastic retelling of Strangers on a Train. It is such a fast read and full of suspense (I had to skim a few sections because they were so stressful!) The book kept me guessing to the end.

This is a total slump buster & I also always love a crazy story set in NYC 🗽

This absolutely gave me Gone Girl vibes & even though I predicted a very big twist I was stoked when I found out I was right. However, I was already planning my own book if this twist didn’t happen 😅 this author set it up so well & you truly won’t see it coming unless you’ve read a lot of books like this (it’s my fave genre💅).

This has short chapters, shifting POVs, a little bit of a police procedural vibe going on, and some insane twists! This is fast paced & the writing was soooo good.

Essentially, this is about women who have been victimized & the system failed them - so they make a pact and decide to take matters into their own hands and take out the men who hurt them.

Just WOW. If I would have had the time to binge this I would have. It was so hard to put this down. The ending of this one??? 🫨 this author 100% has a new fan right there! This book is a perfect example of why thrillers are such an incredible genre. This psychological thriller has top notch writing & it was masterfully done.

Thank you NetGalley & Atria for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. 🫶🏻

4.5 stars

Newly released, this book is loosely based on the book Strangers on a Train, the author has rewritten a suspense thriller that kept me glued to the pages.

As two women meet in a bar, both having been affected by tragic loss, they make a pack to help each other out. There is much I could say about each of these women, but I feel it would give too much of the story away. Suffice to say, they are both hurting by the loss of loved ones without getting closure through police/the justice system and decide to take matters into their own hands. Told mostly from Amanda‘s point of view along with a few others. It is mysterious, suspenseful and one I read in a matter of 24 hours.

This was such a well written book, there were with many red herrings, twist and an ending that got me totally off-guard. It does have a trope that isn't a favorite of mine but it did work very nicely here.

Steve Cavanagh is a new-to-me-author, will definitely be looking up his backlist.

When I started reading this thriller i immediately thought of Strangers on a Train, but this goes far past that. It is complex, multi-faceted and fascinating. Each of the main characters is complicated and interesting enough to make the reader want to know what is happening to them. Thanks to Net Galley and Simon & Schuster for an ARC for an honest review.

I chose to pick this one up as a bit of a pallet cleanser (you can see I’ve been knee deep in romance recently!) I didn’t really know what to expect but had heard some positive early reviews, plus I loved The Silent Patient and this one was touted as something similar.

KFMKFY is a twist page turner that I literally couldn’t put down and read in one sitting. I predicted a few of the twists but there were several more that I didn’t see coming. Some great red herrings, too!

This was exactly what I look for in a thriller. Thank you to @netgalley for my #arc 💚

Six months ago, Amanda’s entire world was destroyed, and the man she believes is responsible is shielded from accountability by wealth and power. When Amanda meets Wendy at a bereavement group, they quickly develop a deep bond and before long, have hatched a plan to help each other get the revenge denied them by the justice system.

I could not get enough of this Strangers on a Train-inspired but wholly original and modern thriller! I was positively glued to the pages of this fast-paced, tautly plotted, multiple POV story. This wild ride had me on the edge of my seat the entire time with my jaw dopped! And not only is the plot brilliant, but the character development is excellent too, with palpable trauma and heartbreak. Intense, propulsive, and absolutely unputdownable!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books providing me an advance copy of this book.

This was a great twist on the "Strangers on a Train" theme. Three characters, all impacted by unthinkable acts of violence, are searching for justice (or revenge). The backstories are shared as the individual plots wind together until the twisty, surprising end. I don't want to say too much because the book is so expertly written to keep you guessing how it will all conclude. I will say I loved this story and I was genuinely shocked at the end. I also really appreciated reading about how people survive the worst blows life can deliver. I could not imagine being in the shoes of any of the characters but I was enthralled at being in their heads as I read. I highly recommend this book and I think it will give readers a lot to think about long after they finish. Thanks to Steve Cavanagh, Atria Books, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Kill For Me, Kill For You is deliciously dark, gritty and twisty psychological thriller read that does a fantastic job of keeping you frantically flipping pages to see how all the puzzle pieces will finally come together.

I do absolutely love a plot that has seemingly unrelated storylines, that are then flawlessly woven together, creating explosive revelations and loops that boggle the mind. This story serves up just the right amount of twisting drama, and brilliantly crafted evil, doled out in perfectly paced alternating perspectives.

I thought I had some good guesses about how it was going to play out, I guessed very wrong.

All to say, this is a spring thriller release out this week that needs to be IMMEDIATELY in your check out cart. You don’t want to miss this one - and you want to avoid all spoilers before diving in!

Many thanks to @atriabooks for the copy! And many thanks to @sscav for your crazy, twisted mind.

Wow! What an amazing suspenseful thriller. I loved the multiple POV and short chapters. The chapters ended in cliff hangers that had me wondering what was going to happen next. There are definitely some tough subjects in this book that make you wonder what you would do in a similar situation. While I did figure out one of the twists part way through, I never saw that ending coming! This was my first Steve Cavanagh book and definitely will not be my last.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an ARC of Kill for Me, Kill for you by Steve Cavanagh for an honest review.

Kill for Me Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh is one of the craziest mystery, suspense, thriller that I have read in quite a while.

From the description, I thought this was just going to be an homage to Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train, with some details changed up like the main characters being female...but this was SO MUCH more than that. I spent at least the first half of the book trying to figure out how Ruth & Scott connected to Amanda & Wendy. The only thing I could come up with was Detective Farrow, and it just didn't make sense. There were so many omg and wtf twists and surprises that I almost got whiplash from trying to keep up!

I'm not even going to go into character development or writing or whatever else people usually put in their reviews.

All in all, the only thing I have to say is go read this book! If you like mysteries, psychological thrillers, suspense, twists & turns, or crime fiction told from the points of view of a great cast of characters, then this is definitely for you! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. Run, don't walk to your nearest bookstore, online retailer, or audiobook seller.

Kill For Me Kill For You is a psychological thriller that follows the split POV of two women who face heinous crimes and decides to take matters into their own hands. In their darkest hours two women make a deadly pact that leads them on a deadly path of murder and revenge.

I don’t even know where to begin on this story! This was one of the best thrillers I have read. As a fan of mysteries like Sharp Objects this story had me hooked! The main characters are beautifully tragic and so well written. To add most of the story had me guessing how the two character’s were even connected and when that was finally revealed my jaw was on the floor. The best part was there were still dots to be connected. With that there was some worry that some of the mystery was going to be left to never be solved but it was wrapped up in a completely gasp worthy way.

Overall this was an amazing read and had me guessing all the way to the end. The story was ultimately wrapped up in a nice little bow with the character’s I wanted coming out on top. This novel makes me want to march to the closest bookstore and pick up more Steve Cavanagh mysteries. I truly cannot wait to dive into more of his works!
