In Hades, Knowles weaves a tale that showcases the author's passion for Greek mythology. The novel's slow pace provided the author with an opportunity to dive deeply into both the characters and the storyline.. While reading Hades, one can appreciate the considerable time and effort taken by the author to craft the novel. This is a novel that is well-suited to readers with a keen interest in Greek history and mythology.

Kind thanks to Aria & Aries, Mark Knowles, and NetGalley for an advanced reading copy of Hades.

Another well-researched interpretation of Greek mythology. This is part of a series but you don't have to have read the other two books to start this one. I didn't connect too much with the characters or the plot, unfortunately. Will probably be a great read for someone else; it just wasn't for me.

When I requested "Hades" from NetGalley, I didn't realise it was the third book in a series. I think I probably would have enjoyed this book much more had I read the first two, as I felt like I was missing a lot of background - and when it's a re-telling it's kind of important that the background has the author's slant to it. I did enjoy the writing, the characters, (mostly) the story, and the setting is obviously going to be a favourite part for me!

My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.

A very clever story of Greek Mythology. Though it was quite long and difficult to read in places I still enjoyed it overall as I have the rest of the series

I recently had the pleasure of delving into this book, and I am beyond impressed with the mesmerizing world that the author has crafted. From start to finish, the intricate plot weaves a tapestry of suspense, emotion, and unexpected twists that kept me eagerly turning the pages.

One of the standout features of this book is undoubtedly its characters. Each one is meticulously developed, breathing life into the narrative with their unique personalities, motivations, and flaws. The protagonists are not just names on paper; they are relatable, complex individuals with whom readers can form a genuine connection. The antagonist, too, is not a mere foil but a multi-dimensional force that adds depth to the story. The author's ability to create such well-rounded characters is a testament to their storytelling prowess.

The plot unfolds seamlessly, drawing the reader into a richly layered narrative that expertly balances tension, drama, and moments of poignant reflection. The pacing is impeccable, maintaining a perfect rhythm that keeps the reader engaged without sacrificing the depth of the story. The author skillfully navigates through various plot arcs, interweaving them with finesse to create a cohesive and satisfying whole.

What sets this book apart is its ability to tackle profound themes while maintaining an accessible and engaging narrative. The book seamlessly combines suspense and emotional depth, making it a truly immersive experience. The author's prose is both elegant and evocative, painting vivid imagery that lingers in the reader's mind long after the final page is turned.

As I reached the conclusion, I found myself yearning for more from this talented author. Their ability to craft a gripping plot and bring characters to life is truly commendable. I eagerly anticipate future works and would wholeheartedly recommend this book to any reader who appreciates a masterfully told tale. If you're searching for a book that seamlessly blends captivating characters with a compelling plot, this is a shining example. I can't wait to explore more literary worlds crafted by this exceptional storyteller.

Unfortunately, I just could not get into this book. I did not enjoy the writing style, the chapters felt too short and incomplete to me and it didn't seem to flow. The characters were hard to keep track of, even with the index in the beginning of the book. I appreciated the amount of research and knowledge that went into the book, which is evident when you read it, I just did not connect with the writing.

I did not realise this was part of a series but it did not stop me from enjoying it (and I am now determined to read the rest!).
I am a fan of myth retelling and historical fiction so this was right up my street….and it did not disappoint! The author clearly has a passion for Greek mythology and it’s retelling which comes across in the story.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Hades seemed to be an interesting novel. The premise seemed interesting, and I love Greek mythology, so I thought I would also love this book. The writing wasn't bad, but the book's pacing was really slow. I was bored in some parts.

However, I could feel that the author really knows about greek mythology and has a huge passion about the myths. I will try to give this book another chance in the future.

Knowles' love for and knowledge of mythology shine through in his storytelling. The writing style was not always to my taste, but there is no doubting his mastery over his subject. I think most people who are interested in the Greek myths will find something here to enjoy.

I'll admit I didn't realize this was part of a series when I started reading...but I didn't feel that I was missing out! Knowles does a fantastic job bringing the end of the Age of Heroes to life in a sprawling Greek tragedy. Having a small background in the Classics, I followed along as Xandros, a grandson to Jason of the Argonauts, sets off on a voyage to save his island home of Lemnos from the Sea Peoples invading the Archipelagos. We are treated to characters of Old -- the remaining living crew members of the Argonauts, including famed bard Orpheus.

Knowles adds dimension and character to the grizzled band of Argonauts as they offer their services to Xandros and the island of Lemnos, a place where they left more than just a final impression during their famed voyage while introducing us to new characters who encounter those they have only heard in legend.

A deeply atmospheric and immersive tale, with many feelings of dread. You'll certainly like this if you like Greek history and mythology.

Thank you to Netgalley, Mark Knowles and Aria & Aries for an advanced copy of this book. This one was published in early November...either catch the beginning of the series if you want to know more, or read as a standalone.

the prose nor the story itself managed to grab me and I couldn't get myself to finish it unfortunately.

I did not know this was the third in a series but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I really love seeing the difference in various greek mythology retellings and Knowles does a good job differentiating from other retellings.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy.

I have read the previous two books in this series so couldn’t wait to get hold of the third instalment. Did not disappoint, full of the amazing tales of Greek mythology that I adore.

When I requested "Hades," I didn't do my research and didn't realize that it was the third in Mark Knowles' series. In fact, I must not have read much about it beyond the title, because I was expecting it to be about Hades as a god, not in reference to the realm that shares his name. So, all of that is on me. Even without having read the first two in the series, though, anyone with even a passing bit of knowledge about Jason and his Argonauts, Medea, and other pieces of Greek mythology would be able to orient themselves and enjoy this one. It was a little slow to get started, but once it found its stride, it was a fast read full of all of the best things about Greek myth retellings: action, adventure, camaraderie, a dash of romantic intrigue, and some murder. Maybe once my TBR pile gets a little bit more under control, I'll go back and read the first two in the series. A solid 3.5 stars.

An ancient greek tragedy through and through .. it took me a while to read this book. The author did an extensive research wich you can see while turning the pages. Unfortunately for me it was very slow and confusing.. Different perspectives and I couldnt keep up with the story line.. I was very excited to read this one because Hades is my favorite Greek god.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC

I am a little late on my review as I had to read the first two books and I am SO GLAD i did. I loved the in depth care and attention given to every element of this saga. In all the original versions you cruise past these unbelievable events like they're nothing and this entire series gave me exactly what i wanted.
