Thanks to Netgalley and humanix books for access to this Arc in exchange for my honest review.

This book is a wealth of information information and meal plan ideas for those struggling to know what to eat. Some truths were blunt but much needed. The week's meal plan very useful, didn't if some recipes (quick recipes) not very complete. I also loved the special recipes. I 100% recommend it to those with high cholesterol or even to those who might want to start a healthier diet.

Interesting book. As with most health books you take snippets here and there. I wish the author success. Thanks for my free copy.

What I really enjoyed and appreciated about this informative diet and meal plan was that it truly was a simple approach to eating healthy day-to-day. The meal plan included a variety of different foods and ways to cook them in different ways but each and every one is extremely easy to follow and the ingredient lists aren't overwhelming in the slightest. Keeping things simple really can be the best thing to do when trying to eat healthy and improve heart health. The beginning of the book includes a lot of great information about the author's own experience and knowledge in the subject area and even this section is simple and makes perfect sense. Nothing went too far over my head or felt like I was slogging through useless information. I really appreciate how well it was all laid out. Even the information that I was familiar with was still interesting to read through, and I also learned some new things about reading food labels and what things to really watch out for. There were also more in-depth recipes included so you have options of following the very simple plan or incorporating more complex recipes that sound delicious and still relatively simple to follow.

One thing to note is while this diet is very easy to follow, I did find myself questioning how filling some of the meals would be combined within a day as it doesn't seem like enough calories for a lot of people. While calories are not counted within this meal plan, if I were to follow some of these days I would probably want to add a few hundred more calories to account for added activity throughout the day or any higher workout days which is something to keep in mind.

If you're looking for a truly simple but well-thought-out guide to eating heart heatlthy, I would highly recommend this book!

Having high cholesterol and high blood pressure I was quite happy to see what hints and tips this book would bring. With a combination of healthy eating plans, great recipes and ideas for shopping, meal preparations, fitness and motivation I found this book has provided me with a few more tweaks to get my heart health back on track.

Very interesting and useful and a book that I can refer back to time and again.

Synopsis (from Netgalley, the provider of the book for me to review.)
*********************************************************
Dr. Crandall’s Healthy Habits to Stop and Reverse Heart Disease

Based on new medical research and including over 28 days of healthy meals and over 100 delicious and easy recipes, THE SIMPLE HEART CURE DIET AND MEAL PLAN is the perfect companion to Dr. Chauncey Crandall’s bestselling THE SIMPLE HEART CURE: The 90-Day Program to Stop and Reverse Heart Disease Revised and Updated.

Heart disease kills more people than any other medical condition. No one is more aware of this than top cardiologist Dr. Chauncey Crandall, who has performed over 40,000 heart procedures during his career. Dr. Crandall is living proof of his program’s success. At the age of 48, and with no major risk factors, he found himself in the ER with a “widow-maker” blockage of his main coronary artery. After emergency heart surgery, he recovered from heart disease using the same course of treatment and diet he recommends to his thousands of patients — and details for your benefit. His unique perspective as both doctor and patient helps him empathize with the difficulties in making a transition from years of bad habits to a heart-healthy way of life.

THE SIMPLE HEART CURE DIET AND MEAL PLAN is a groundbreaking approach to preventing and reversing heart disease — an approach honed by Dr. Crandall’s study of foreign cultures free of heart disease and decades of experience helping patients achieve a healthier heart at any age.

Dr. Crandall believes in using every weapon in his medical arsenal — conventional medicine, emerging treatments, lifestyle changes, and even alternative therapies — to help his patients recover.

Based on the concepts pioneered in THE SIMPLE HEART CURE, this companion guide, THE SIMPLE HEART CURE DIET AND MEAL PLAN, works by reducing major heart disease risk factors: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and pre-diabetes, and obesity. Eating right with this simple (and tasty) meal plan will help you live a life worth living! Dr. Crandall outlines the steps you can take to change your diet and get on a path to better health:
- Combines best of Mediterranean and plant-based diets

- Shopping lists and pantry staples

…And much more!
So, whether you just want to prevent heart problems, or you’ve already had a heart attack, you’ll find the help you need in THE SIMPLE HEART CURE DIET AND MEAL PLAN, along with tasty, heart-healthy recipes, menus and week-by-week meal plans to help you begin taking action now.

Dr. Chauncey Crandall IV, of Palm Beach, is a force to be reckoned with and this book has a lot of helpful information in it as it seems these days you are almost guaranteed to get diabetes or heart disease if you follow the Standard American Diet/SAD … it also applies to us Canadians. (The opposite? The Japanese eat a modest amount of rice and a variety of side dishes, they achieve a healthy balance between starch, protein, and fat. Then again, since American fast-food chains arrive in Japan, diabetes and heart disease is on the rise as their waistlines expand!)

I like the fact that the doctor admits that he, too, was on the road to death because of a “widow-maker” blockage of his main coronary artery, which was amazing as he is a cardiologist and heart surgeon means that ANYONE can have this issue and if he can do it, so can we.

The recipes are helpful and easy to do no matter what your cooking levels are situated at, and I love the shopping list and pantry staples part of the book as one does not always necessarily know what to put in the larder at first. Even I could follow the fitness plan, once I get my cast off, and it does not require an expensive gym membership or an outlay of $$$ on equipment. Heck, even if all you can do is walk to the mailbox and back at first, I all you can do, you will improve in time: just don’t sign up for an Ironman event when you decide to start off. Little steps mean a lot.

This is a great book if you are already in a heart-friendly eating mode or need to start…or even want to start to improve your health “now” instead of January 1st with all the other NYE Resolution crowd. I can see this flying off the shelves as it is a sane “diet” book vs. one that promises 25 lbs off your first month: you will gain those back pls more on those plans!

#shortbutsweetreviews … okay, not so short unless you consider my height.
