Thank you Bloom Books, Meghan Quinn, and Netgalley for my #gifted copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first Meghan Quinn book and it’s been on my tbr for yearsss so I was excited to jump into it finally! It was a bit of a slow read but still very enjoyable.
Thoughts:
- I liked Huxley and his brothers - they were typical brothers who give each other shit for everything and were so fun to read. Huxley had his grumpy moments, but I enjoyed his character, especially once he warmed up
- As someone who loves the fake dating trope, some of the scenarios Huxley and Lottie found themselves in were just uncomfortable and cringy
- Lottie was a mixed bag for me, but I didn’t like her more often than I did. She had a very woe-is-me attitude and was more often than not rude and immature. She agreed to the fake dating contract and then got mad and petty when she had to hold up her end of the bargain
- Lottie and Huxley’s chemistry and dialogue were engaging and entertaining when Lottie wasn’t being rude. I enjoyed their quiet moments of getting to know each other
Overall, this was a fun, quirky, and spicy romcom reminiscent of the plot of Pretty Woman.
Read if you like:
- fake dating
- enemies to lovers (sort of)
- billionaire romance
The billionaire romances are so popular and A NOT SO MEET CUTE adds spice and fun to the genre.
I enjoyed the premise of Lottie wanting to help her sister's business out by becoming Huxley's fake-fiancee (for his own business).
There were a lot of funny moments. And there was a lot of sizzle. Maybe too much??
I think the story went a tad longer than it needed and the spicy scenes seemed over the top at times.
The drawings were NSFW and ahhhh, reading the story on your phone may not be the best thing to do.
However, I think this book is perfect for the billionaire romance readers.
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an e-copy to review.
I rate A NOT SO MEET CUTE three out of five stars.
I wanted to like this book more but the one dimentional characters and the lack of chemistry between them made for a huge disappointment
Meghan Quinn writes such cute books and this is one of them. A fun and enjoyable read, what a great way to spend the weekend.
Meghan Quinn never misses - and A Not So Meet Cute is just another example of a fantastic romance novel. With the marriage of convenience trope, witty banter, and steamy scenes - this one was such a fun read. I can't wait to read the next one
This is a good book. The two main characters are Lottie and Huxley. Lottie has just been fired from her job due to a terrible boss Huxley needs a fake fiancé. They meet when they run into each other. Lottie explains she needs to find a rich husband due to her money problems and Huxley needs a fiance to due to him telling lies. They decide to join forces. They get engaged. They start dating. They really fall in love.
As someone who doesn't often read rom-coms I have to admit this one really won me over. So many laugh-out-loud moments as well as endless swooning and just the right amount of spice. I can't describe it as anything other that cute and it truly had me smiling the entire time which I personally would consider almost impossible for a book with so many cliches. Had me surprised the entire time and the author completely earned my respect! Would definetely recommend.
I liked the concept of the book but the execution is not done well. I didn’t find this well written and it came across very juvenile to me. The first 30% was so difficult to get through and I found myself avoiding reading the book. Eventually I powered through to the end but it was a slog
There is also a lot of spice in this book, I’m all for spice but this was too much. I actually ended up skipping over a lot of it.
I loved this book, it’s absolutely hysterical and sweetly romantic at the same time. It’s a classic grumpy/sunshine book, Huxley must have been born with a scowl and Lottie is all sunshine and smiles. I chuckled and outright laughed as they navigated their not meet cute love story.
From the publisher:
My meet cute (well not so meet cute) is slightly different. I was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take me as their bride, you know, to make my arch nemesis jealous who consequently just fired me.
He was stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong and attempting to finagle his way out of it.
And that’s when we bumped into each other. 5 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley, I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.
A Not So Meet Cute was actually pretty cute. I liked the banter and the writing style is fun, but also funny. I love when an author gives their characters personalities that aren't out of an early 200s CW teen drama. Lottie's sassiness provides an extra edge to the spice.
Overall a cute read!
This book was cute and funny!
Lottie, girl can’t catch a break! She’s got a toxic friendship that’s burned her and I loved the resolution for that. I also love how sassy and snarky she is. The meet cute with Huxley is so funny. I love how they connected and their banter. Hux tries his best to not to get attached but I love how Lottie was able to break down those barriers.
It was such a fun fake dating romance!
Meghan Quinn has become a new enjoyable author for me! Lottie and Huxley have a chance encounter on the street, which leads to a new business deal. Now I am one who enjoys fake dating or fake engagement, so I knew I was in for a treat with it. I do have to admit I was hesitant with another piece of the storyline but with a friend's encouragement I continued on and fell in love with these characters. The wit and banter in this story had me laughing throughout and I was rooting for them to find their happy endings. I also adored the Cane brothers and cannot wait to keep reading their stories! Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
I adored this Meghan Quinn book! Spicy and a great story. How did you meet is a question many couples hear and some have a cute story. While Lottie and Huxley’s meet cute is unconventional, it ends up being cute… and their story is hot, I had zero expectations for this book, and yet was completely blown away. Thanks for such a fun, and steamy, story! Can’t go wrong with a Meghan Quinn book!!
I love the marriage of convenience trope. The reluctant relationship that leads to falling for each other gets me every time. This book doesn't take itself too seriously, which is nice to read ever once in a while. It contains fun banter, which I enjoyed. I would recommend giving it a read if you're in the mood for a fun romance story.
Meghan Quinn. always delivers a steamy entertaining read and this novel was no exception. A billionaire romance with fake dating/marriage. Quinn takes that trope a few steps farther. Great banter and chemistry
This one gets. All. The. Stars. I couldn't put it down. I haven't had a book I couldn't put down all month. I LOVE Lottie. She was hilarious! The witty banter, the fake fiance bit and everything that entailed, the spice. Ugh it was all so right! I straight up was cackling while reading. Multiple times. I think I just found a new favorite author!
Thank you to Bloom and the author for this copy!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Receiving an advanced copy was a delightful surprise. I believe both existing fans and newcomers will find it equally enjoyable.
In this hilarious romcom, Lottie, recently fired and facing financial struggles, concocts a plan to pose as a fake pregnant fiancée for wealthy Huxley, who needs to seal a business deal. Their fake engagement leads to uproarious situations, including awkward Lamaze classes and comical breast pump fittings. Despite Huxley's initial grumpiness and trust issues, he finds himself drawn to Lottie's sass, while she discovers his hidden qualities. Their chemistry ignites steamy encounters, culminating in passionate moments throughout the book. The witty banter and intense attraction between Lottie and Huxley make for a delightful read, leaving readers eagerly anticipating possible future stories involving Huxley's brothers.
This was my first Meghan Quinn book and man am I hooked!
Lottie is a twenty eight year old who just got fired. Finding a rich husband will certainly solve all of her problems. Huxley runs a billion dollar business with his brothers. He needs to prove he is worthy of entering a business deal and needs to find a fake pregnant fiancée asap.
Steamy, check
Swoony romance, yup
This checked all the boxes for me
