Huxley needs a fake fiancé to secure a deal and Lottie needs a rich husband to get back at her ex best friend and boss after she’s just fired her.

Bam - they bump into each other and next thing you know they’re signing a contract and they seemed to have both got what they wanted, but is it really that easy?

I really enjoyed the journey these two went on and how they navigated the crazy situations they got themselves into! The banter was fab and the spice was SPICING! A brilliant billionaire’s romance to keep you hooked and I’ll definitely be reading some more Megan Quinn!

A Not So Meet Cute was my first Meghan Quinn novel and I thought it was a very cute romcom. Huxley is the quintessential billionaire more focused on business than his personal life. Lottie is the perfect down on her luck girl to get him to realize there is more to life. Throw in some crazy lies, fake dating and heated looks and you know sparks are going to fly! If romcoms are your thing I would suggest you check out Meghan Quinn’s work. 💖

4 Stars I absolutely love Meghan Quinn’s rom coms, especially the Cane Brothers series! Her rom coms are some of the funniest I’ve read, with witty banter and completely bananas situations that the main characters get themselves into. It’s impossible not to find her books delightful and A Not So Meet Cute is no exception. In addition to all of the hilarity that ensues, Meghan Quinn excels at slowly developing the relationship between the MCs, Lottie and Hux. It was very easy to see how this novel was inspired by Pretty Woman (minus the sex worker part), which I thought was clever since I’ve read plenty of contemporary romance novels inspired by classic romances like Austen and Shakespeare. A fantastic read that I highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this arc.

I rounded up from 3.5 to the 4 stars. I did enjoy the development of the love story between Huxley and Lottie but found their bickering to be redundant and found myself skipping over bits of the book. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Lottie is desperate after her friend/boss betrayed her by firing her right before her big raise, her parents are expecting her to move out anyday, and her student loans are due. A rich husband, or someone to pose as one, would really stick it to her boss.
Huxley is anxious to make a business deal and foolishly makes up a story of a pregnant fiance that doesn't exist. If his lie is found out, it could be devastating for his reputation and his business. When he meets Lottie, it seems to be the perfect solution for both of them to pose as an engaged couple, with Lottie moving in with him and going on double dates with his client. The lines between them start to blur as they endure ever more awkward dates. If only she could find his true personality under the cold business exterior.
I liked both of these great characters and, while the reason for their deal was a little thin, I really enjoyed their journey as a couple from dislike to attraction to love. Huxley's hot and cold attitude was frustrating but understandable when he finally shares his reasons. This book is full of laugh out loud scenes and the spice is through the roof...literally, lol!

NEW COVERS!!

I KEPT hearing about just how good this book was, but I honestly was so turned off by the original covers that I never picked it up. But when I saw it was available on NetGalley AND with new covers I was SOLD. THIS WAS SO GOOD. I loved both the FMC and MMC.

Also, did the original publication have illustrations in it, because holy moly I LOVED those.

I seriously don’t have much to say because it was so good and I was eating this book up so fast that I truly forgot to take any notes. I was giggling. I was blushing. My favorite Quinn novel to date.

To sum up - GO READ IT

Meghan Quinn is one of my favorite romance authors. All of her books are romcoms and are quirky and funny. A Not So Meet Cute is the first in a series. Huxley needs a fake pregnant fiancé to close a deal and Lottie needs a rich man to go with her to an upcoming class reunion. They sign a contract and agree to be fake engaged. As they spend more time together the lines between a contract and feelings become blurred.

I loved the banter and chemistry between Huxley and Lottie. Like all of her books, this book is laugh out loud funny. I also enjoyed the character development. Do not miss this one!

Thank you netgalley for this arc of the Bloom Edition in exchange for an honest view.

This book is full of insta love and sexual tension from the start. It was certainly not for me at all. The fact he lied from the start set me up for a downer of a book.

If you love these things then this book is for you

Yall. Omg! So Meghan Quinn is now on my auto buy list! I know this is just a new cover release so some of yall are like yea we read that ages ago. But this was my first time so humor me.

Let go from her job by what can only be described as her frenemie boss, Lottie has the brilliant idea to go walking in the wealthy part of town and find a rich husband. And she does. Kind of. While Huxley Cane is a billionaire, he's not looking for a wife. Or a girlfriend for that matter. But what he does need is a fake fiancee. And oh by the way can she also be newly pregnant? Considering she's out of work and needs the cash, Lottie takes him up on his offer. She'll be his fake fiancee, he'll pay of her student loans and help her find a job, housing, etc. What they don't expect is to actually fall in love.

Yall I'm a Meghan Quinn Stan! I LOVED this book! The banter! The sexiness! The love and heart. And did you notice the similarities to Pretty Woman? Minus the prostitution of course. I loved how Lottie made Huxley human and how he taught her to be sure of herself. They're so perfect together and this book totally played up their strengths apart and together. I loved it. Loved every page. Especially loved the twist at the end. And now if you'll excuse me I'm going to dive into the last two of the series.

A Not So Meet Cute is such a funny romcom. I was laughing out loud multiple times while I read this. It’s ridiculous in a good way. I’m thrilled to see that this one of her books got picked up by a publisher, it definitely will be enjoyed by a wider audience!

Wow, oh wow… Meghan Quinn gives us another AMAZING read with A Not SO Meet Cute. I could not put the book down! It was a fantastic rom com with a lot of steamy sexual tension!

We meet Lottie when she’s a t a low point in her life¬-she’s getting fired from her boss, who is also supposed to be her friend. Then there’s Huxley… a HOT workaholic who doesn’t have time for a social life. When he fears he’ll lose out on a business deal, the lies roll off his tongue and he gets himself in a situation that he’s doesn’t know how to get out of. Lottie and Huxley are both desperate when she meets him while walking through a wealthy neighborhood. They quickly realize they can help each other out, and from here a fantastic rom com is born.

The chemistry between Lottie and Huxley was undeniable. Their witty banter had me hooked… and the steamy moment… I had to fan myself off to dowse the fire. Their slow burn to a real relationship was everything I want in a romance book! I loved their story from start to finish. If you’re looking for a fun, sexy romance read then A Not So Meet Cute is perfect for you!

Lottie was just fired from her job by her boss who was her supposed friend. Now she has to go to her high school reunion, jobless and single. Unless she finds herself a rich boyfriend... A panicked Huxley told a potential client of his that he was engaged and expecting, so he needs a fake fiancé for a dinner that happens in theee days. Lottie and Huxley bumped into each other by chance on the street, and when they get to talking, they realize that they could both benefit from one another...
This fake fiancé, billionaire, grumpy sunshine is book 1 in the Cane Brothers series. I loved it, but I have many thoughts. First of all, I find it really sad when someone feels ashamed of being fired to a point where they don't even want to tell their parents, even if they seem to be very close to them and supportive. I don't understand why being married or engaged to a rich guy makes you successful and how being single makes you not. I hate this kind of pressure. I also don't understand why the FMC feels such like a failure when the person that fired her is so obviously a bitch. Also, ehe lost her job about 20 seconds ago, and she's already reverting to thinking about stripping in a club even though she clearly does not want to? To each their own, I'm not shaming anyone who wants to strip, but to her, it's clearly a last resort solution when she hasn't even started to look for anything else. And when she realizes that stripping would be too horrible, she's going straight to "hey why don't I get a sugar daddy?" like 5 minutes after losing her job. I think it's a bit extreme. I Loved the dynamics between the three brothers, and I can't wait to read the other two brothers, books. The connection and banter between Lottie and Huxley was amazing. Lottie was annoying at times, she was so against everything and reluctant. Huxley's tendency to always revert back to keeping this professional state was also annoying at times. I hated the third act conflict, that it was based on actually not trusting Lottie when for the better part of the story, he's trying to convince her to trust him, and he's mad at her for not trusting him, and then he turns around and immediately accuses her of something she didn't do and then doesn't believe her when she says she didn't do it? I don't think I would've been able to forgive him. I know I've been complaining about a lot of things in this book, and the fact that I still gave it 4 stars speaks volume about how good it actually is. I did enjoy it very much, but all of those things kept me from totally loving it.

After getting fired instead of promoted, Lottie wanders the streets looking for a rich man to make all her problems disappear. Luckily, billionaire Huxley needs a fake fiancé and pretend baby mama to help him seal a business deal.

The various double dates between Huxley/Lottie and Dave/Ellie were often humorously awkward as the hero and heroine tried to sell themselves as in love, engaged, and expecting a baby. While I really liked Lottie’s mother, stepdad, and sister, an eco-conscious organizer, it was hard to get a handle on Huxley’s brothers as much of their communication happened over text message. Looks like the second installment of the series features Lottie’s sister and one of Huxley’s brothers.

Some of the references seemed dated. The book contains lots of references to the movie “Pretty Woman” as Lottie often feels like she’s been cast into Julia Roberts’ role of Vivian by Huxley. Both Huxley and Lottie are into retro bands like Fleetwood Mac and Foreigner.

I’m a big fan of the grumpy/sunshine trope, but Huxley’s grumpiness often came across as coldness with a side of nastiness. Meanwhile Lottie’s character felt a bit too clueless and randy. The story relied a bunch on coincidence and text message exchanges to power the plot.

Romance readers looking for lots of spicy love scenes will find them in this book. I was surprised to find a number of illustrations of Lottie and Huxley within the ebook.

Lottie and Huxley both realize their fake engagement, which is only a business arrangement, might just be more...Hilarious side characters, lots of banter, generally checks every box for a perfect romcom.

4/5 Stars

Thank you to Bloom Books, Netgalley, and Meghan Quinn for the arc of this book.

I have seen a lot about A Not So Meet Cute so when I saw it available as Read now I had to grab it and I am not disappointed. I’m one of the people who ended up really enjoying it, I liked the dynamic between the two main characters even if they were idiots at time. I also loved the inclusion of art which I think will only be in the paperback versions but don’t hold me too that. I keep finding books that feature art throughout the book and I really want to see more of this because I am not someone who can visualize characters and worlds in my head so it is very helpful. I can not wait to dive into book 2 which I may have also grabbed off Netgalley.

Lottie is fired from her job after thinking she was finally going to get the promotion she not only deserved but was promised. When she is stuck without a job, living with her parents, and wondering how to get revenge on her ex friend who was also her boss she runs into Huxley Cane who is in desperate need of a fake fiance to save a deal. Unfortunately Lottie and Huxley don’t really get along but smile and look happy in front of others because they both need each other to save their careers or start them in Lottie’s case. But eventually they realize maybe hate isn’t what they feel towards eachother…

I liked Huxley’s development and I felt his pain when he fucked up big time towards the end. It truly does care about Lottie and wants to learn how to be more there for her instead of putting on a mask anytime he feels big emotions. Lottie also grows some from the beginning as she realizes that she kind of is an asshole to a lot of people in her life. She thinks of herself first and foremost for a large chunk of the book but when she ruins a big chance her sister’s company had to grow she starts to think more about how her actions affect others.

I think that this book was a fun read and had some really funny moments as well as beautiful art if you get the bloom edition of the book.

This is my first Meghan Quinn and it was so cute! There's nothing revolutionary, but it was a good read and perfect to bring with you on a vacation or if you want a summer read. (yes, I know it's November, but I think this would be better in the spring or summer time). Also, if you see me aimlessly wondering around in an upscale neighborhood, please, mind your business! haha.

I place my recommendation stamp upon this novel if you're looking for a great start to a series, I will definitely be continuing.

Huxley is everything! Meaghan Quinn is everything!
Every time I read one of her books -- better and better! (although can anyone outdo Hottie Hux?!)

This was sexy, funny and sweet. I loved the romance, even though it is a pretty slow burn for these two to reach romance they do FWB along the way to love, lol. Huxley is sexy and broody and I was here for all of it. I was literally laughing out loud several times while reading this story. The entire scene with JUDITH OMG LMAO

Would recommend if you love:
-fake relationship
-billionaire hero
-enemies to lovers
-sexy and funny

I can't wait to read JP & Kelsey's story next up in this series!

3 stars!

I was hyped to see this available and jumped at the chance as it was on my TBR. I loved the banter between Lottie and Huxley! It wasn't like other stories I've read, but it had moments that made me cackle and the banter was different. Something seemed to not amp up the rest of the story for me, I'm not sure what?? Did I want more jokes between them? I don't know but I wasn't too invested in the story but I enjoyed it??? If that makes any sense!

Regardless I cannot wait to read more by Meghan Quinn!
