I have a vague feeling as if I’ve read this book before, but even if I did it’s so enjoyable I don’t mind. Meghan Quinn’s Not So Meet Cute plays with one of my favorite romance tropes: fake dating. Of course the cardinal rule for fake dating is to never fall in love But you know what they say, rules are made to be broken. I always love how Quinn is able to add so many layers to her characters, how she makes them relatable/believable. If you’re looking for a Pretty Woman-esque rom-com this one is for you. Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC.

I have loved this book for so long and am happy it’s hitting book store shelves. Huxley and Lottie were flirty, sexy, and fun. I think Megan balanced entertainment and endearment splendidly here and I recommend her books to anyone looking for a good time.

Meghan Quinn writes the most adorable romance novels and never skimps on the spice.

The tension between the two main characters, Lottie and Huxley, is palatable and leads to this explosion once they finally make moves. Of course — everybody knew that they liked each other and knew it was bound to happen.

I love a good book with the fake dating trope and Quinn did a beautiful job with it. The character development is masterclass and as a result, once they inevitably got together, I was shook.

Overall this book kept my attention and held it well. I already love this authors writing, and have read her books before, but this one hit the mark. I clearly needed some fluff between the dark!

Thank you Netgalley and Bloom books for the eArc!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for providing the ARC.

One of my favorite Meghan Quinn books to date! Love a good fake dating trope with a cocky billionaire and a stubborn woman who pushes all of his buttons.

This book was fun, spicy, and just an all around good read. I enjoyed the tension between Lottie and Huxley and the ultimate explosion that happened when they got together. I loved watching them navigate this absolutely convoluted mess they found themselves in and how everyone knew before they did that they had fallen for each other. And the spice was just top notch.

If you're looking for a fast, fun, and completely unserious read, this book will be great for you.

Oh my goodness this book was so fun. This is a first for me by Meghan Quinn and won’t be the last. So first off her writing reminds me of Annika Martin and a bit like Max Monroe as well and in the same vein the humor in the writing definitely comes through without being overly contrived. Yes, ridiculous situations arise especially with the fake dating premise they gotta be tested somehow but the scenes are written so descriptively you can’t help but to buy in and laugh along.

This story is not without its serious character development though. It took me a minute to really get Huxley but he’s actually one of my favorite hot and cold MMCs with how into Lottie he eventually got (and admitted to). It’s fun to have a little indulgent millionaire/billionaire romance hero time. And how they initially clashed wasn’t bicker-y although it was frustrating, it’s more like a compelling frustrating rather than annoying. I was rooting for them the whole time. I wouldn’t take it so far as to say enemies to romance but more like miscommunication.

What caught me off guard (in a good way) was how the tension ramped up and the steamy scenes had my jaw on the floor. Huxley really went from 0 to 100 like who gave him the right! That was insane! So happy this is open door.

Thank you to Bloom books for this ARC for the re-release. I would like it to be known that the art is interspersed in the kindle version as well and it was so fun. I kept reading a scene hoping it would be depicted and loving when it was one of the favored ones. Not sure if the art was in the original version but if not it makes this updated release absolutely worth it (also cause I love the new cover as well)! Of course, for the story.

4.5⭐️

A Not So Meet Cute is the first book of the Cane Brothers series of interconnected standalones. I always turn to a Meghan Quinn book when I’m in the need of a good laugh and this book did that exactly! We have our typical alpha male, Huxley. Then we have Lottie who is down on her luck and sets out to find a rich husband. I will admit that Lottie got on my nerves a little and seemed immature at times. I loved the push and pull between these two and the spice was spicing! Was the story a little cheesy? Yes, but that is what I expect from a romcom. Overall, I really enjoyed Huxley and Lottie’s story and I can’t wait to read the next in the series!

3/5 ⭐⭐⭐

This was my first book by Meghan Quinn, and I love her writing style! She's easy to read with relatable characters and some great dialogue that had me both cackling with laughter and kicking my feet.

My favorite aspect of this book is definitely the FMC, Lottie. I love her attitude and humor. Some of the banter between her and the MMC, Huxley, just had me dying.

I have mixed feelings about Huxley. I didn't feel like I knew him very well, as he's mostly just huffy and puffy and then begging at her feet at the very end. I don't feel like I saw the ~different~ version of Huxley that made Lottie fall in love. But maybe that's just a curse of the grumpy x sunshine trope, writing the MMC's into such brick walls that it's hard to see another side of them. Also, the way he spoke to her sometimes.. a bit too far methinks. However, it's a rom-com, so we ignore the red flags. It's fine, everything's fine!

A good, quick read with lots of laughs and some nice spice. I already adore JP but I'm not sure about Kelsey, so I'm still debating on visiting the next book.

Thank you to Net Galley and Bloom Books for the ARC copy!

I had so much fun reading this book. Huxley and Lottie were so very entertaining. At the beginning Lottie had me laughing out loud at how Huxley got himself into this situation. I mean not only is she his fake fiancé, she has to be pregnant as well, plus from Georgia (somewhere she has never been and without an accent). As the story went on, the antics got progressively over the top and I was here for it! Poor Huxley and Lottie were oftentimes traumatized by some of these outings. I adored these two together, and it took some time for Lottie to break through his shell. When she did, Huxley had me swooning with how he treated Lottie. Now I was very disappointed in his brothers with how they handled the situation about Ellie and Dave finding out the secret. They did not take any ownership to how they told Hux to confront Lottie. That turned me off, I know it seems crazy but I will not be reading their books for now!

Thanks to Netgalley for providing arc to review with an honest opinion.

3.8 stars. fake fiancé/grump x sunshine romance. these tropes are typically not my favorite. however, these characters were so funny and I loved their banter. a little corny at times but overall a fun spicy read. also really liked the occasional graphics throughout the book. looking forward to continuing the cane brother series.

A Not So Meet Cute was Fake dating excellence, and had me laughing the whole way through. Lottie and Huxley meet by running into each other while trying to escape their problems. Lottie whose just been previously fired from her job, is looking for a date to her High School Reunion while Huxley is looking for a fake fiance. The two strike up a deal and so the faking begins, I have never laughed so hard reading a fake dating trope, the things Lottie had to do for Huxley were unreal. The sexual tension between these two were unmatched, and while it always seemed like hate.. there is a fine line between hate and love. The ending had me gasping, and though I HATE the miscommunication trope, and a 3rd act break up this book used them well, so I can't be too mad. Meghan Quinn just became one of my must-read authors, and I absolutely adored this book. Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review this in exchange for my honest review!

I do remember people hyping up this book a while back on Booktok. I thought I would give it a chance and it was just okay to me.

In a not offensive way this book just felt too white for me. It was cute and silly and fun but it was just billionaire romance with some crazy scheme that means they have to be fake date/engagement.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Its not a meet cute.

Nope. Its two people with ulterior motives agreeing to fake it till they make it.
Lottie meets Huxley when she's literally looking for a sugar daddy. Along comes Huxley, with more money to spare, but in need of a fake, stat. Over the top fakeness ensues.
Recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book had me SCREAMING!!! It was equal parts hilarious and spicy! At one point I was laughing so hard I was crying! This is hands down one of my favorite books I have ever read! I can’t wait to read it again!

Just fired from her job, Lottie Is out for a walk in a wealthy neighborhood looking for a rich husband. She runs into billionaire Huxley who just finished lying to a potential client about being engaged. They strike up a deal where she will pretend to be his fiancé to help him close a business deal.

You will fall in love with Lottie and Huxley (and all the Cane brothers). The spice was soooo good, but the story itself was just pure rom com gold!!!! I am obsessed with this book and will make it a mission to get everyone to read it! You will not be disappointed! Loved, loved, loved!!! Well done Meghan Quinn!

A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quin is the first book in Cane Brothers series and it was phenomenal.
I don’t even know how to rate this book…… it was just pure perfection!
Not sure I can say anything that hasn’t already been said.
I absolutely loved this book!! A sexy enemies to lovers, slow burn rom-com.
With the best banter and fake dating trope you could ever ask for.
Quin’s writing is stellar and fun. She creates some of the greatest most relatable characters and I enjoyed their journey.
Definitely, a must read if you have yet to open this spectacular book! It had everything I could possibly want in a book.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Bloom Books for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

The premise of this book is ridiculously hilarious, but somehow it works. Lottie needs a fake rich boyfriend and to get out of her mom's house, and Huxley needs a fake pregnant fiancee. After they agree, they find themselves in all sorts of cringe worthy but really funny situations with the business associate he lied to. Then they start developing feelings. It was fun to see him spoil her and watch her loosen him up. Excited for the other brother's books.

Lottie and Huxley have the best chemistry and the best banter. There was so much spice in this book and I loved every second of it. This book made me think of pretty woman but in a romcom way. I absolutely loved this book and I’m excited to continue this series.

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the arc of this book.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Bloom Books & NetGalley for a copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

I forgot how Meghan is the absolute Queen of spice, and this book did not disappoint. My only complaint is that the story was a bit longer than it needed to be. Some parts of the story could be cut down to make it a smoother read. But if you’re looking for a new steamy romance, grab this one!

Huxley and Lottie meet by chance on the sidewalk of his affluent neighborhood. After literally running into each other and they start talking, they decide to strike up a deal. Huxley lied to his potential new client by talking about his pregnant fiancé. News flash: he is not engaged, let alone have a fiancé who is pregnant. And Lottie was just fired from her job by her best friend, when she thought she was getting a promotion. They draw up a contract where Lottie will act as Huxleys fake pregnant fiancé, and also move in with him. Lottie takes the deal because without a job she can’t pay her student loans that Huxley has agreed to pay off.

What starts off as a fake engagement, also has other tropes; forced proximity and enemies to lovers. They spend most of their time together at each other’s throats, constantly arguing. But the more time they spend together they both learn to let their guard down, and really get to know each other. But when Huxleys client finds out he faked his fiancé and their pregnancy, everything blows up. Will Lottie and Huxley have a future together?

Huxley and Lottie's phony dating scheme begins when he meets her while out walking in his neighborhood. Their romance may begin as a fake but it isn't long until they realize they have something genuine happening.

Her writing is entertaining and full of humor, but it also contains heartwarming emotional moments.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
