This book was adorable! I loved the illustrations, and I can definitely relate with Max - the messiest monster. I get anxious when chores have piled up and seem daunting. This was such a cute story to show children and adults that as overwhelming as a task can seem, you can tackle it one step at a time,
I received a DRC from ViaNova Productions via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
great book to teach kids how to tidy up after themselves, it rhymes throughout and the illustrations are bright and creative. would definitely recommend i have put into my amazon wish list to by for my nephew for his birthday.
Another cute Mill Street Monster book! Max struggling to stay tidy is a struggle that oh so many kids (and adults!) can relate to.
I loved the illustrations paired with short, rhyming lines of text. It acknowledged how frustrating the issue was for Max, and how he then overcame this struggle. It is perfect for parents or teachers to read and talk through with their own messy kids.
This book would have convinced me to keep a clean room as a kid.
The visuals, the storyline, the literal kid horror. Max was running for his life. This was so creatively written, and even though it was more "funny" than scary; it teaches children a valuable lesson about keeping their space clean through the "misfortune" of other. It showed a step by step process of how Max rectified the situation and his plans to prevent this in the future.
I would def keep a copy of this on hand for small children to learn the importance of cleaning up - proactively.
I volunteered to read a copy of this ARC through NetGalley.
Another Monster on Mill street. This time Max is the messy monster whose mess eats him up! Max learns that cleaning up after himself may take time but is the right thing to do and it still means he can have fun! This book is a cute way to send a great message.
Very cute story with a good lesson! It kept my daughters attention very well. I loved the bright colors and the way the book flowed.
The Messiest Monster On Mill Street is a super cute children’s story about a Messy monster that learned a lesson about cleaning up after themselves. The illustrations are really adorable and the story is fun, yet still teaches a lesson. The author rhymes and the story flows smoothly. Definitely a book I recommend for little ones, as its message is in a very fun way.
As someone who struggles to keep my space tidy and clean, I feel as though reading this as a child would have been amazing, it gives such simple and useful tips for cleaning your room and is paired with beautiful illustrations, I highly recommend this one for parents of children who struggle to stay tidy
I was sent this E-Arc on Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review
This one is the most reminiscent of my daughter. She loves to play and make messes like Max. This book is a great teaching tool for explaining to children why we need to clean up. Fantastic art and rhymes!
The messiest monster on Mill Street teaches a valuable lesson. The lesson to be learned by reading this book is to always clean up after oneself, otherwise it will overwhelm you. Kids would have so much fun reading this. It's relatable as kids are usually messy. I would suggest this book to any parent trying to teach their children how to clean up after themselves.
Love Always, Catherine
The Messiest Monster on Mean Street is a fun and engaging book about Max, a monster whose messiness is just out of control!
I really enjoyed the bright, fun illustrations which captured Max’s messiness in an imaginative way. The prose was simple, humorous, and lyrical. It does a great job of talking about personal responsibility in a supportive rather than lecturing fashion, and gives an opportunity for parents and children to share a joke whilst working towards the goal of keeping things tidy.
I thought it was great that the book didn’t veer into perfectionism, as Max was validated for doing his best rather than having the cleanest house on the street. A great way to highlight the concepts of doing your best and personal growth for younger children.
Thank you ViaNova Productions, and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
Adorable illustrations and a cute story to help kids learn the importance of cleaning/picking up after themselves. Relatable for kids and written in a fun way for kids to relate to.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
As a young girl, I was never really fond of monsters (because I was a girl and a scaredy cat -- I was more into princesses), but the beautiful illustrations drew me to this book. They reminded me of a cross between Disney and Pixar's Monster's Inc. and Mercer Mayer's Little Critter book series. It also slightly reminded me of Dr. Seuss's artwork. This book also teaches young children that not all monsters are scary (which is a very good lesson for children to learn from an early age). This should be purchased by parents, teachers and librarians to add to their children's book collection. I thought it was a very sweet read!

How messy are your kids? Probably not as messy as Max, the messiest monster on Mill Street. His room is an absolute disaster. All it takes is the mess trying to swallow him whole and he decides to clean it up. Now "Max still is the messiest one on the street. But he tries to be tidy, and that is really quite neat."
As the mom of 3 boys (two of which are teenagers). I can definitely relate to how Max's mom might feel. This is a cute book for the youngest of my 3 to help reinforce how and why we need to pick up our messes.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Loved this book and the other two from this author! So light and rhyme-y but also appealing to littles with bright colors, relatable characters with big feelings. Highly recommend for the little ones in your life.
Read this with my kids, we all enjoyed it. We enjoy the book series of other emotions & use it as a learning tool. Thank you for a copy.
As the parent of small children, I appreciate having any opportunity to talk through growing up and personal responsibility. This book presents kids with a practical and appropriate roadmap to taking care of their own spaces.
Max is a very messy Monster. He just is too busy to pay attention to the mess he leaves around him. Until the day the mess overwhelms even him. Then he learns a bit of self-control.
This is a cute story with wonderful illustrations. The story does a good job of sharing a normal life problem and shows how one can take control to lessen the mess. I wasn’t fully convinced that it changed Max but it still has a good strong message to share with children to help them be aware of picking up after themselves. I would share this with my grandchildren and recommend it to be shared with children everywhere.

One of our favourite kids book this year! We loved this story about the little monster and his struggle with his messy home.
Lovely play of words and illustrations. Good for kids around 4 to 6 years.
A great book to use to help show the concepts of what can happen if we don't clean up after ourselves. Definitely a worthwhile book to consider for story times or at school before clean up time happens.
