Great illustrations and cute, lyrical flow. Highly recommend for young readers!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy!
This was a cute book. I appreciate that it sets the precedent that being messy isn't a bad thing. It's only bad if you let it get out of control and let the mess be an issue for others. Good lesson for a kids book. The art was also cute and captivating without being too busy.
This was such a cute little story that will teach littles the importance of keeping their space clean as well as show
This is an adorable children’s book that kiddos will love. I especially think the cookie crumb army and dust bunnies will bring lots of laughter to little ones everywhere.
I read this book with my two sons. They're ages 5 and 7. We are currently developing good habits, so I thought this book was a great way to help! They really loved the pictures associated with the story. I feel this is a great book for young children to read! I liked the lesson that was taught in the book - Max was quite messy, but he eventually picked up after himself and realized how happier it made him feel to have a cleaner space.
Thank you, Netgalley, and Sarah Sparks, for allowing my boys and I to read this story together.
I have two son, ages 4 & 6. We read this at bedtime tonight. They both enjoyed it a lot. It's very relatable in the aspect that our life often gets messy and chaotic when we are having fun. The boys don't enjoy cleaning when the fun is done. This story talks about what happens to the monster when the mess gets out of control. The consequences of a mess can swallow you whole. The kids laughed about the silliness of the book. it's fun because it rhythms. Then we had a discussion to tie in a life lesson about the importance of cleaning our messes up. I'm going to add this to our home library when it becomes available to purchase. 5/5 stars. Thank you for allowing us to read and review.
• This book, written in verse, is bright and fun… and helpful!
• It is designed to help children develop social-emotional learning skills and children will definitely recognize some of their own behaviors in the story.
• The Messiest Monster needs some housekeeping and hygiene skills! When his stinky and messy room quite literally trapped him under an avalanche of stuff, he promised he’d start cleaning up his room. Readers will learn that being tidy all the time is a lot easier than letting things get out of control.
• This is a cute book with a great lesson. The book is 34 pages long and targeted at readers 3 to 8 years old. Perfect for any home or primary school library.
Thank you @NetGalley and ViaNova Productions for an eARC of these books, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This was a cute book! I loved the art it was very bright and creative! I must confess I ask also a messy monster soo this motivated me to clean my room as I’m sure it will for many children!
I was able to read three books by this Author and in this series and I loved them all. This one was cute and I could relate because as a child, I would have been the messiest monster! I will definitely recommend this to my patrons at the library!
Another adorable children book that tells and teach the children so they wouldn't be messy with their toys, foods, clothes, etc. I'm thinking of giving this book to my nieces because it has a great message inside and I hope they can take the story as lesson.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange of my honest review.
I loved how catchy & rhythmic the writing of this book was. I could just picture it being read aloud & met by giggles from children. It holds a nice little lesson about cleaning up after yourself & how being untidy can get out of control. I also loved how you could see in the illustrations that Max was much happier when his mess was all clean - kids read emotions more than words so this is a great addition. Very bright & colourful artwork, perfect for kiddies!
What an absolutely adorable book!!! Meet Max, who is the messiest monster on Mill Street. Max quickly finds out that his mess has gotten way out of control and he needs to fix it. This book does a fantastic job of explaining to kids in a fun way that messes happen and here is how you can take responsibility to not only clean up your mess, but also prevent them from happening in the future. The illustrations are bright, catchy and exciting. The rhyming prose will hold a child’s attention and teach them a valuable lesson in an entertaining way. This is a great book for teachers to use in the classroom and I would personally buy this for any young kids in my family.
My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this fun read in exchange for an honest review. I truly enjoyed this book.
A colorful and adorable book that's a more fun way to teach kids the importance of making sure you pick up after yourself. With fun rhymes, a cute monster and fun yet disastrous mess I'm sure that kids might listen.
We loved this monster book! My 2.5 year old kept telling the monster to clean up and had fun pointing out the messy items! We would definitely buy this for future reading!
Max is a moster, but his mess... IS ANOTHER MONSTER!
Max lives in a street called Mill, out of all residents, he was the messiest monster there. Despite liking to have fun in his daily life, he found it hard to keep the space clean, until one day, the mess became out of control and he needs to solve it asap, or things might get worse. Follow Max on his mess tackling journey!

I love how the story embedded hygiene as it theme. It can teach readers how being messy can brings problem to them. Kids sometimes need to see and observe something to fully understand it, hence I believe this book not only able to help them understand how to keep our hygiene but also demonstrate step by step of actions that they could do in real life. I believe this can be a good learning experience for young readers.
So adorable! Cute and catchy rhymes that are silly enough to promote giggles galore. But teach a simple lesson. My five year old didn’t want to read a book at all, but I started reading and he was transfixed after 3 pages. Then he immediately wanted to read others by the same author.
Read as part of our homeschool reading time and it was such a hit. Fun for all and gave a great message.
I needed this book today for our home! What a great story to teach the importance of cleaning up after yourself. Must have for homes & schools!
The Messiest Monster on Mill Street was such a fun and entertaining read. I loved how everything rhymed with a sing-song rhythm. Reading the story aloud just drew big smiles and lots of giggles.
With cute illustrations, the story came to life in such a delightful way. The colors perfectly showcased the main character Max as well as his mountains of messes. I just had a grand time reading the storybook.
Not only is the story fun and entertaining, the book is educational as well. Life skills are taught in a very thoughtful, non-threatening and amusing way.
Overall, I am very pleased with the book — storywise as well as illustrative-wise. Highly recommend it for both parents and grandparents, alike. I certainly intend to get a few copies as Halloween stuffers for the grands. Five outstanding stars.
I received a DRC from ViaNova Productions through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
This is a good children's book, which shows a monster called Max who is very messy. The mess he makes while he has fun has taken over his life, and he has to learn to fix it, so that he can feel better.
The images in the book are quirky and fun, and children will love them. The text is in rhyming fashion, which my daughter enjoyed.
This book is part of a series. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
