I quite enjoyed this book. I am a huge fan of Mitch Albom’s work. He does a beautiful job pulling together four different perspectives of World War II and showing how each persons lived experiences changed them not only throughout the war but after it as well. All the characters are written so vividly that the reader feels drawn into their lives. I love how the book looks at truth and the power it can hold. Knowing that Nico starts the story believing that the truth is the only honorable thing to tell, watching him evolve to becoming someone who hides from the truth is both heartbreaking and beautiful. It truly shows how people had to adapt during the war. So many lives lost, and so many stories connected. I can think of no one better than Mitch Albom to bring them truly to life.
Thank you so much to Haper and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book.
Mitch Albom has a gentle way of wrapping you into each of his stories. Fiction or non, his writing absorbs me fully into its characters and settings.
The Little Liar intertwines four lives pre and post Holocaust: 3 Greek, Jewish children and 1 adult Nazi. I won’t tell you more, as this read is a gift you should give yourself. Don’t miss it!
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper for allowing me a digital ARC.
A beautiful realistic and haunting story written in the face of horror that needs to be told over and over again so we never forget. It’s the story of two brothers, Nico and Sebastian, their friend Fannie, and the Nazi, Udo who decided the fate of all three. Realistic accounts of Auschwitz, and what happened to the Jews in Greece, are both difficult and necessary to read told by the narrator Truth. Even amongst the atrocities the good human spirit of some people are enough to lift the story and give hope amidst the despair.
There are not enough stars to rate this book....it was excellent - Albom NEVER disappoints! The story follows the lives of four people throughout World War II. This book is based on love, hate, disappointment, death, family, friends and most of all truth vs lies - with truth prevailing. Albom writes with emotion, heartbreaking sadness and he doesn't leave one stone unturned. This is one of the most revealing books about the Holocaust that I have ever read.
I found this book very compelling. I went to a book preview and heard the author speak about the book and have been interested in reading it since the summer. I read it in one day! I liked how the author weaved in historical facts with the overall narrative.
I have read all of Mitch Albom’s books and have loved every one. This one was no exception.
This story starts out in Salonika, Greece, during the Holocaust. It is told by the voice of Truth. The Nazis have invaded Greece and are getting rid of Salonika’s big Jewish population. We get to follow Nico, the boy who never told a lie; his brother Sebastian; their friend Fanny; and the German officer Udo Graf. This is a story of deception, heartbreak, survival, and consequences. The truth has a way of catching up to us all. I highly recommend this book.

Four lives collide from the beginning of World War II, during the War and the consequences after it's over. This book is based on love, hate, disappointment, death, family, friends and most of all truth vs lies - with truth prevailing at the end. Albom writes with emotion, heartbreaking sadness and he doesn't leave one stone unturned. This is one of the most revealing books about the Holocaust that I have ever read. Kudos Mitch Albom and thanks for the advanced copy! This book will resonate with the reader long after the last page has been read.
A moving novel told in the name of truth. Following 3 Greek Jewish children and a Nazi officer thru the war and for 40 years afterwards, we experience the awful effects of war on the survivors in an inspiring novel.

I enjoy Albom’s books and found this one to be even better! Story about family, courage, love, truth, loss, tragedy and redemption. I was immersed in the story and interwoven in the four main characters. You will not want to put it down. If you like historical fiction don’t miss this one!

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of Mitch Albom's book, 'The Little Liar'. The Little Liar isset during the Holocaust and shares the story of the Greek Jews suffering as it follows four characters (Nico, Fannie, Udo Graf and Sebastian) and is spoken from the point of view of, Truth itself. It explores honesty, survival revenge and devotion and is a wonderful intermingling of stories and shows how lives can cross and intertwine throughout life.
