This was a fun lighthearted read with a good plot. Who does't love a fake dating trope?! I have not read the first book, however did not feel this changed my experience as such.

I really liked Linsey's writing style, it was fast-paced, witty and enjoyable. I cruised through this book with ease.

I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to going back and reading the first book now.

I truly enjoyed this book. Some of my favorite things about it were the fake dating, the aspect of vampires and witches, and the overall slow of the characters and plot. Linsey did a wonderful job at writing this, and making it smooth and enjoyable. I loved this one more than the first.

I received this book from NetGalley and I was so excited to read it not only because it seemed like the perfect witchy-vampire book for fall, but also because the main character and I share a name (which is always fun). But let me tell you this books was awful.

Although I know this is a second book to the “Charming Cove” series, there was no warm up to the story. It just dove right into the middle of the story. Normally, for standalone series like this, there would be some recap of the last book.

Next, the writing was awful. It read like a 2nd graders story. “I like him but it’s fake”, “I love home but it’s fake,” “I’m sleeping with him and he’s taking care of me, but it’s fake.” Come on! Give me some depth. It felt incredibly juvenile.

I also hated that our main character only said the word “bum” when she swore. What adult does that? I get censoring yourself around children, but this was tooooooo much. Might as well not speak at all if the only words that come out of your mouth when you are in a crisis is “bum” or “double bum.”

We never found out who hired the paparazzi, so that felt like a pointless addition and was a weak way of making MC MMC have their third act break up.

Let’s also not forget that the title of this book is “How to Fake Date a VAMPIRE” emphases on VAMPIRE. Yet, her vampires don’t have super hearing, don’t live forever, aren’t fast, aren’t effected by the sun, and apparently eat curry. They only mentioned biting once and it was Alaric saying he wouldn’t bite her. Might as well call this book “How to Fake Date a Human or a Duke.”

All in all I would not recommend this book. If you want something witchy or vampire-y for this fall read “A Discover of Witches” far more interesting and written well.

Thank you net galley and publisher for the Arc! I’m not a huge romance reader, but I’m a total sucker for paranormal romance and How to Date a Fake Vampire scratched that itch with a cute autumn vibe. Fun, cozy low stakes low-fantasy romance read. Nothing terribly different or exciting, but very comforting if you like romance tropes.

A cute, quick paranormal rom com. It was a fun read for getting into spooky season. While Alaric was supposed to be a vampire, he didn’t give off a lot of vampire vibes or characteristics of one which disappointed me. The witchy vibes were fun, even though they were kind of odd at times “joy batteries”?? strange, but we’ll go with it.

Steady paced, sweet romance with fake dating.
Emma wants to be a full member of her coven and signs up to plan the Beltane Ball. However there is a problem the place she wants to hold it is at the Vampire Dukes estate. Alaric says he will only let the ball go ahead if Emma agrees to be his fake date.
This is a low stakes romance with little drama and any drama that occurs is quickly dealt with. If you came looking for vampires this is not really for you as the vampires only seem to be rice and mix blood in their drinks.
I loved it as it seems to follow the same formula as the last book.
Witch with low self confidence must complete task, has help from handsome man, falls in love problems solved, happy ever after! Penelope the skunk is an absolute star with her witty banter!
I love this book for making the everyday simple things seem magical.

Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I had an absolutely great time with this. It was a lighthearted and easy read with the perfect autumnal vibes.

I read this in three days, something I never normally do and had already recommended this book to numerous people before I’d even reached the halfway mark - and I can’t wait to recommend it even more now I’ve finished it.

Emma is an apprentice at her coven. She wants to become a real witch, but first, she must become stronger. Then, the duke comes into town and coincidentally runs into Emma. They both feel a connection, but it is all a little weird. But when Emma finds the opportunity to host the annual ball, she decides to see if she can host it at the duke's estate. The duke agrees, but it is not for free.

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. Clearly, as the title already gives away, this is a fake dating plot. Obviously, they become a real couple afterwards. It gives you everything that you want from a fake dating trope. I loved the mix between vampires and witches, although the fantasy part belonging to that could have been a little more elaborate. I think that there was room for that in this book. I think that the character of Emma was really well developed, Alaric still has a lot of mystery around himself. I would have loved to see a little more from his side, especially from the mystery around his parents and their deaths. Other than that, I really enjoyed the way this book was written and I would love to see some sort of follow-up story to this plot.

Quick and easy magical read. Emma and Alaric are cute together, but the relationship building felt a little rushed at times. It's a shorter book, so that is somewhat expected. MVPs are Alaric's grandma and Penelope the skunk!

The second book in the Charming Cove series, How to Fake Date a Vampire is a sweet follow up to The Modern Girl’s Guide to Magic. It can stand alone, but has some crossover from the first book.

Emma is reasonably new to Charming Cove, and is an apprentice witch to a local coven, searching for belonging. As the chosen host of the Beltane Ball, she’s got an opportunity to become an official coven member, but she has to convince Alaric, the town’s hot, reclusive vampire Duke to help make it a success. Obviously.

This is light, sweet romance set in a charming seaside village, with a charming cast of characters. The perfect escapist witchy read!

Thanks to Bonnie Doon Press & NetGalley for the ARC!

Another adorable book set in Charming Cove! In this one we have witches AND vampires! We get bits of romance, we get some comedy, a lot of cute moments and a little competition. This one is perfect for a light October read. I loved Emma and Alaric. They are so much more alike than either knows, both realizing love is the end goal. Found family is one of my favorites plots and this one hit for me. Also, who wouldn’t want a skunk for a familiar?! All in all, if you are looking for an easy read that fits into the October season without the spooky, definitely pick up this series. I already can’t wait for werewolves in December!

I really enjoyed reading this review copy! I actually finished it a while back, I’m just now getting to review. I feel like it was missing that bit of something extra I look for, but it was still a super cute read!

Thank you NetGalley and Bonnie Doon Press for this digital ARC. Oh my goodness it was so cute!! I went in pretty blind, especially since I didn’t read the first in the series. I’m unsure as to whether it would even be better if I read the first one, but IT WAS ADORABLE!! Perfect for the spooky weekend and so easy to read. It felt like a young adult novel, but really enjoyed it!

Quick and easy read. Emma is a young witch trying to find her place in this world. Enemies to lovers lite.

3.5 Stars rounded up to 4.

Read if you love:
-Fake Dating
-Magic
-Small Town Romance
-Closed-Door Romance (Mostly)

This was a very cutesy little Rom-Com, that is the perfect read for the Halloween season. I loved the magical little town and learning how vampires and witches interact within their world. Emma + Alaric were very sweet to each other and I enjoyed reading about them falling in love in such a magical way.

How to Fake-Date a Vampire by Linsey Hall, is the second book in her lighthearted, paranormal romance series, Charming Cove. However, this novel works perfectly well as a standalone - though I do recommend reading the series as the books are proving to be an enjoyable and easy read, perfect for the Autumn time of year.
In How to Fake-Date a Vampire, we have the PoV of both Emma (our witchy protoganist) and Alaric (our vampire). Emma is a relatively new arrival to Charming Cove and believes her best opportunity to maintain a place in the local coven is to organise the annual ball. And she needs to recruit the reluctant local Vampire to help her.
In his turn, Alaric desperately needs Emma's help to convince his grandmother that all is perfect in his lovelife.
Naturally, there are plenty of humorous moments and magical mishaps throughout the storyline. Resulting in a fun and satisfying witchy read

This was a fun, fluffy, magical/paranormal romance. I would say this book falls in the romcom genre. This was a 5⭐️ read, very light on the spice!

This book follows Emma, an orphaned witch with a longing to belong, as she needs to find a place to host an annual ball for her coven to become an official member. Emma decides the only place suitable to make her stand out is the Blackthorn Estate belonging to Alaric, a reclusive vampire duke. Alaric agrees to host the ball if Emma fakes date him to make his grandmother happy. The MCs are attracted to each other and start to develop feelings. But it is complicated because Emma has braised feelings about titles and wealthy people based on the actions of Alaric’s father, and Alaric was burned by a past girlfriend who sold his family secrets to the magical press.

I always prefer books with dual POVs and this was no different. The author did a great job of character building; I could really feel Emma’s longing to belong and find a family, along with the pain Alaric feels at a past betrayal and desire to make his grandmother happy. The world building and descriptions in this book were an effortless continuation from the first book. The journey of Emma and Alaric building upon their feelings is so sweet! We get comedy from Emma’s playful and sass familiar, Penelope the Skunk! I love Alaric’s grandmother, she is so posh and regal but approachable and lovable, plus she loves binge watching TV in secret (Breaking Bad fan!)

Thank you NetGalley, Bonnie Doon Press and Linsey Hall for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review. I requested this book after it was release because 1) I didn’t know it was on KU and 2) I didn’t know it was book 2. Therefore, I did not read this until I read the first book.

I really enjoyed the first book in the Charming Cove series but this book I absolutely loved. I really enjoyed experiencing Emma and Alaric’s relationship, the side characters were amazing and what I loved best was Penelope, Emma’s familiar. She was so sassy and had a great sense of humor. Overall, this book is such a great fall read. Do not pass this one up!!

A bug thank you to NetGalley, Bonnie Doon Press and Linsey Hall for the complimentary copy. all opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this book.

Wow it was incredible. A witch fake dating a duke? What else could you want?

I loved Emma, she was a nice, generous and very lovable character. But the character I probably lover the most was Penelope. I knew that every time she would appear I would be smiling or laughing.
I sometimes found myself wanting to hug the characters as they were (for most of them) so nice.

It was a very easy, cozy and fun read that I would 100% recommend.

You also don’t necessarily have to read the first book to understand this one.
