This is the story of a monster who has so much energy. She bounces around and gets in trouble for her actions. She takes up jogging as a hobby to cope with all the energy. I think it is a good suggestion and relatable for so many kids.
Another great book in the series. There are a few stanzas where the rhymes and the cadence get broken, but still a top of the line read.
Thanks to ViaNova Publishing, NetGalley, and Sarah Sparks for letting me have the chance to review this book in exchange for an honest opinion. This series of books are a delightful read and I look forward to reading them all with the little kids in my life. Definitely have them added to my wishlist for books to buy for my nieces and nephew. I know they will love the illustrations and storytelling as much as I do.
Wonderful children's story with beautiful illustrations to help tell the story and teach kids some valuable lessons. Parents are going to enjoy reading this book with their children. Should be added to every family Library.
A very silly story about a monster who does not want to sit still. The toddler laughed at the silly pictures and we delighted in the rhymes.
The perfect book to read with my 4-year-old goddaughter who recently had a fall off the monkey bars. We loved the illustrations and the rhymes are great, even more importantly my goddaughter loves the monsters! Becks gave us a wonderful lesson on how bouncing is fun staying still is good too. I've really enjoyed this series and hope to read more Monsters on Mill Street in the future.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a copy for an honest review.
I read, The Bounciest Monster on Mill Street, to my 8 and 10 year old daughters. They enjoyed it despite being a bit too old. The rhymes and illustrations were great. There was wonderful humor and it was quite enjoyable. We give it a 4.5 stars out of 5! I would definitely purchase this for toddlers through age 7. This message hasn’t been overplayed yet for social emotional intelligence so it was a good take.
Thank you NetGalley and ViaNova for allowing me to read, The Bounciest Monster on Mill Street, in exchange for my honest review.
It was nice book for kids to learn how to control their jumping around. For me there were too many words.
Thank you NetGalley for this amazing lesson for my 7-year old. My 2nd grader Zoe loved this book. She giggled and thought the book was funny like several of the others we have read by Sarah Sparks. This book and the illustrations were delightful as always and with the built in lessons would be perfect for a classroom or home library.
Such a cute book! This one gives a lesson about not being able to sit still and the consequences that can have with adorable monster illustrations. Would be a great book for toddlers.
An excellent picture book to introduce the idea to little kids that it's important to do all things in moderation.
The Bounciest Monster on Mill Street is a story about Becks, a monster who just has too much energy, and while it takes her on some pretty wild adventures, it also gets out of control. In the end, she tries to clean up the mess she has made and finds some less destructive ways to channel all that bouncy energy.
My 5 & 7 year old both gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
The illustrations have a simple and endearing style, and the rhymes in the text make it fun for them to follow along.
Here are a few of the things they said about the story:
- It is teaching you to not always be too energetic and take some time to relax sometimes.
- "I really like how cute she (Becks) is."
- "I was wondering why monsters eat human food."
This was the first Monster on Mill Street story that we read. It does a decent job of threading the needle between encouraging youthful energy and keeping it in check. We shall see if my little monsters take the message to heart.
Note: I received a digital copy of this book in hopes of a review through NetGalley

Part of a series that I enjoyed... the little momster is one hyperactive one and loves bouncing.
Usually, children's book authors might attempt to rhyme in their books. This is very tricky as there needs to be a rhythm and flow when it is read outloud by someone else, not just the voice in our head.
You may be a decent kid's author or even adult author or port, but that does not mean this translates into a successful, rhyming book for kids.
Kudos to the author and illustrator as they succeeded where I feel many attempted and cannot.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, @netgalley

In "The Bounciest Monster on Mill Street", we're introduced to Becks—a lively yellow bundle of fur, but also a bundle of energy. She just can't sit still, and the story sees her bounding and bouncing and boinging away. What's a monster to do with all that energy?
One in a (consistently lively) series, this gives kids a chance to get the giggles as Becks bounces and causes minor chaos in the process—but it also offers some a simple way to redirect some of that energy so that the chaos is lessened and the crash isn't quite so hard. I love the playful, colorful illustrations here (Becks looks, fangs and all, completely cuddlable...if she slows down long enough to be held!). The ending did feel a little abrupt, but I hope future books in the series will see the different monsters interacting. Seems like a great series for teaching young kids a little bit about regulating their emotions.
Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.
This whole series it adorable! I read it with my 4 year old and he loved it. This would be great to use in your classroom too! Highly recommend this series!
Becks is bouncy and one day, her energy overflows and becomes a problem. How can Becks solve the problem and not get into any more trouble on Mill Street?
The Bounciest Monster on Mill Street has a relatable story for children and a great message. Children often have a lot of energy and no good place to put it all. With an easy to read rhythmical text, children will enjoy reading Beck's story. The cute drawings with great facial expressions help to relay the problem and the solution in a kid-friendly way. I could see this book helping a classroom teacher settle down unruly students or parents during reading time at home.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to read and review this children's book was entirely my own.
Another great book in the series of Monsters on Mill Street. This a perfect book for families and classes with hyperactive children. It teaches children that there is a time & place for lots of energy and that there are times to be calm and at rest. Colorful pictures and fun rhymes will make this book fun to read.
Cute pictures and story. What would happen to a little monster that can't stop bouncing? One little monster is about to find out! This was an easy read with cute pictures
THis book is part of a wonderful series called Monsters on Mill Street. This is our newest book from the series and we absolutely love it. It fits perfectly with our family. My son who is on the autism spectrum associates things better with seeing and storytelling. This series is perfect. In this fun new adventure we meet Becks. Becks is full of energy and life and is always on the go. Sometimes her high energy gets her into trouble and causes a lot of chaos. Becks has to learn to find ways to calm down and to take time to relax. I love how this book showed my spirited little one that sometimes we need those calm moments and that we have to learn the right time for things. All while still being true to who we are. The rhymes and wonderful storytelling along with great colorful and playful illustrations complete the story. Our family is hooked on the series. For parents there is even more, including resources for activities, videos and more on the Monsters on Mill Street website. You will want to check that out. I highly recommend this book for all families of little ones. I also highly recommend this book to be used in early childhood classrooms. It is perfect for teaching social-emotional learning skills at home and in the classroom. We received this as an ARC thanks to NetGalley but we are buying this for our home and for on the go bag. You will love this little adventure.
Rhyming book and colorful illustrations show the harm constant motion can cause. It's fun to move around, but it's also fun to take the time to be still
