Another excellent instalment in this series, book 10 and it just gets better and better. . .
This series gets better and better!
Another stonker of a read which i flew through in two sittings.
Prepare yourself for a a real edge of your seat book.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
This blew me away.
This series just gets better and better. The characters are easy to like and, having read others in the series, I'm now invested in their lives. I think they could be read as standalone too as separate plots and enough background information included . The plot to this book moved along quite fast and I didn't want to put it down. I also didn't guess the culprit until nearly the end. I had my suspicions, but there seemed more likely suspects. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next
Another fantastic book from Helen Phifer. I adored Morgan and the team can’t believe it’s already book 10! And they are still going strong. Loved the little Witchy theme crime felt perfect so close to autumn. I’ve never felt so many emotions one minute I was panicking scared crying angry confused. It was so gripping and intense I felt like I needed a minute to breathe. I thought I had it all figured out twice !!! Was wrong both times. This book is a brilliant thriller crime and I now have the long wait for book 11.
Stolen Darlings is Book 10 featuring Morgan Brookes in a well written suspenseful read.
This one is my favourite to date (until Book 11 ).
Morgan and Ben are racing against the clock to find out who is killing potentially three women.
The first victim is found posed with a crown of roses around her head.
All three women consider themselves witches.
Red herrings, twists and turns keep those pages turning and the lights on until the final page.
Helen Phifer always leaves you wanting more of series with Morgan and Ben.
I will be first in line for Book 11 and cant wait to see where the next book takes us all.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a page turning read.
As soon as I got a Morgan Brookes read I had to read it, it did not disappoint. This was such an engrossing and fast paced read, for me it was a full afternoon read as I wanted to know who and why was killing the girls. Although I think potentially it could be read as a standalone I wouldn't recommend it as it flowed on from other stories and you wouldn't get the backstories etc, which really enriches the story.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review was entirely my own.
I didn't put this book down untill the final page. Yet again Morgan does her job and gets the killer. This series is great and now 10 books in it isn't getting stale like some series.
5***** can't wait for the next one
A dead body is discovered at Castlerigg Stone Circle on Ostara, the Spring Equinox. The young woman, whose throat was slit, is wearing a white dress, crown of pink roses, and garland of greens. She is also one of a number of local women who consider themselves witches and is the proprietor of a magical shop. It is up to Detective Morgan Brookes and her colleagues to figure out the significance of the posed body and adornments and find the killer. When they track down the florist who made the crown, they learn that three were ordered; will there be more victims?
This was a fast, engrossing read. I enjoyed the main characters and the convivial relationships within the investigative team. The story is a perfect combination for lovers of British police procedurals and witches! There are a number of suspects and red herrings to keep readers guessing.
This is the tenth in the Detective Morgan Brookes series. Although it does work as a standalone, there are quite a few characters introduced immediately, mostly just by their first names. Since I have only read one other book in this series and it was a while ago, I would have appreciated knowing a little more about their positions, ranks, relationships, histories. Some series authors are very careful to help new readers catch up; that did not occur in this book. I also felt that there was one major question left unanswered about the case. Despite these concerns, it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to the next one.
It really is true. Time flies when you are having fun. I could not believe this is already book 10 in this amazing series.
I loved Morgan as soon as I met her and I like her more and more. She surely is a tough cookie and even when she was hurt in the line of duty, she does not take time off, but soldiers on.
As per usual, the author offers us a basket filled with suspects to pick from and I was being swept back and forth, focusing on one and then on someone else. So no, I won't be Morgans new colleague any time soon. ;) :)
Working in homicide or any other police department is not a walk in the park. That's why is utterly important the team is a well oiled machine. People who like each other work better together and a little banter between them only cements their relationship.
Great book, great series, great characters. 5 stars
Thank you
Morgan is again striving to solve a murder before another one takes place.
Women are being killed during Ostara, and their bodies placed at a stone circle, with a white gown and a crown of flowers.
Morgan is convinced that it is a photographer that tricked the women into a photo shoot and subsequently killed them by slitting their throats.
I am always thrilled to see a new Helen Phifer book. And I love the way Morgan runs around solving murders. She is good at it, and has a reputation for solving viscious crimes.
For a change, she didn't get badly hurt in this book, which is a good thing!
I paced myself with this book, instead of sitting up reading all night, I started reading, and finished the following day, savouring every clue and finally being stunned at the end.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This series just gets stronger and stronger with no let up in the pace. I drop all my other books when a Helen Phifer novel is released because I know they are such a good read. I literally cannot put them down.
I love the camaraderie of the team, they all work well together and despite the seriousness of the case there are still some lighthearted moments to break up the tragedies.
Thank you Helen for writing such great books and to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read them as an advance copy. My views as always are my own
This series continues. Morgan is at it again. Mystery and intrigue with realistic characters who come alive on the pages of this story. This talented author has written a page turner. Thanks to Netgalley.
