Synopsis: Twenty years ago a prom queen in a small Michigan town was killed by a train and it was ruled a suicide. Now an investigative podcaster is in town and digging in to the story again, with several people in town seeming guilty.
Pros/cons: Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy. It comes out October 9th.
To me this story was fine. It had enough plot twists to keep me interested, but also no shocking twists. The epilogue had a good little twist, but again nothing shocking. I encourage you to check it out and see what you think!

This thriller was a pure cover app for me and I honestly wasn't sure what I was going to make of it. A prim queen dies and it's not as it seems
How many thrillers have we all read with the same trope?

I loved this one. It was fantastic.
The only issue I had was the podcaster was very rude and pushy towards our main character. I found it hard to read from her pov but otherwise this was fantastic

Prom Queen had an intriguing premise. I wanted to know more about what happened to Bailey the prom queen. I love books that include podcast and the makings of them. I would rate this one 3..5/5⭐️. It twist I saw coming and the ending just wasn’t the satisfying.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an Arc!

I don’t usually read mystery or thrillers but I loved this book and found that I just could not put it down!! There were so many twists and turns which had me on the edge of my seat, as well as a very gripping plot! Laura Wolfe’s writing was fabulous and she crafted the story so well, she had me suspecting every single character!

The only thing that kept me from finishing this book in one setting was that I had to work. There were so many twists and turns in this book. This is definitely one of my top favorite books of the year!

This was my first novel to get after joining netgalley and it definitely did not disappoint. I love that the twists started early in the book and continued through to literally the last page! Some twists I saw coming and some completely blew my mind.

I really enjoyed that the chapters swapped between the present and past to give the reader a full picture of the investigation.

How can you not want to read a book about a prom queen who may have been murdered? It gave me instant “Carrie” vibes, without all the blood.

“The Prom Queen,” is told in dual timelines. One in present day, and one 20 years ago. Both storylines were equally interesting to me. I also loved to see how the bitchy high school characters turned out. It was too fun!

Overall, I enjoyed the characters in this book and didn’t see the end coming. A very fun, fast read! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This has quite an original story line - Brooke returns back to her home town after her mothers death - which coincides with a podcaster digging into the apparent suicide of her best friend some years prior.
Suddenly things start to point us in a very clear direction - and that is that it most certainly was not a suicide!
Many suspects weave in and out of the story but the ending was genius!!

I really enjoyed this novel. It most certainly kept me guessing. I suspected everybody. I found the podcast angle very interesting and the slowly digging of information kept turning those pages as quick as I could read them. I’m not usually a fan of the unreliable character, but for this story it worked out perfectly. Brooke took me for a paranoid ride. I did change my mind about her many times.
The main character is truly friendship between young people. We do so many petty things as teens and end up harming friendships to an extend they can not be repaired.
My only negative thought about this book is the epilogue. I was satisfied with the ending but that epilogue was a little silly.
Overall, it’s a a quick read and definitely a page turner!

That's a fantastic psychological thriller by Laura Wolfe.

A perfect first person narrative (my favourite) of a murder mystery.

The story started at a slow pace and gained it's speed after first few chapters.

Brooke is back at her hometown Cove Haven after 20 years Hanna, the podcaster has started her latest series that involves Brooke and her friends 20 years ago. Why did Brooke leave the town after her senior grade and never came back to Cove Haven. How did Brooke's childhood friend Bailey's death affected her friends circle. And why now the death of Baikey is being brought to light.

Answers to all these questions come up chapter after chapter with unexpected twists and turns. The twists are provided to you when you least expect it. And that makes you invested in the story. Laura Wolfe has penned it in such an amazing way.

The story goes back and forth from past and present providing a dual timeline which isn't confsuing at all.. This  helped the story move faster than I expected it would.

What makes this novel a unique one is the characterisation. The Characters were very well drafted. Each and every character adds up the mystery to the story and gives you a Rollercoaster of feelings. You keep on guessing who is saying the truth and who is hiding something but you never get it right until the end.

I completed this in a day. And have now added Laura Wolfe to my Autobuy authors list.

Prom Queen is set to release on October 9. A perfect addition to your fall TBR.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with this eArc inreturn for my honest review.

Dual Timelines

"Be careful of people who pretend to be perfect. They're always hiding something."

This book! It pulls you in from the first page. There are a few different twists in this one, I was able to figure out only one of them. But I am still shocked about the ending. I thought I knew how it was going to end, but let me tell you, I was wrong! This is one of those books that keeps you guessing. It makes you like characters, then not trust characters, then dislike those characters, only to start liking them again.

Though there are some parts where it drags and repeats, this is definitely worth the read.

But you must read the Epilogue!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the Advanced E-reader Copy of Prom Queen!

Brooke returns to her hometown, a place that holds many difficult memories, including the tragic suicide of best friend Bailey on Prom Night.... but did Bailey really jump? If not, then who was to blame?

Small town gossip has affected many of the people who were inside Bailey's circles, friends, former friends, frenemies.... Podcaster Hannah is determined to uncover the real secrets of Cove Haven's tragic Prom Queen and plans on leaving no stone unturned

Told across dual timelines and through mixed media, Laura Wolfe has woven a superb thriller, which twists and turns towards its conclusion, which I absolutely did not see coming.

Thoroughly enjoyable, Prom Queen releases on October 9th and will make an excellent addition to your fall TBR

Book Review : For lovers of Lisa Jewell, this book is for you! Prom queen is a binge-worthy psychological thriller that will keep you guessing at what happened to the prom queen, Bailey Maddox.

Bailey Maddox was found dead on the train tracks, an apparent suicide. But was it? Her best friend Brooke didn’t think so. After returning to her hometown under tragic circumstances, all the memories, rumours and suspicions come flooding back. If Bailey Maddox didn’t kill herself, then who did?

This book was a satisfying read, giving pretty little liars meets Carrie meets mean girls vibes. Told in multiple timelines, then (before Bailey died) and now (20 years later) and told through the POV of Bailey’s best friend Brooke. In the now timeline Brooke is unwittingly teamed up with Hannah, a podcaster set on bringing the 20 year old case back into the limelight, doing whatever it takes and bringing down whoever gets in the way of the truth.

I really enjoyed this read, not wanting to put it down unless I really had to. I enjoyed the multiple timeline aspect as it was written well, and wasn’t confusing. I also enjoyed the podcaster aspect, I know that seems to be a modern trope that’s being used a bit these days but, I am yet to tire of it. Finally, I felt that the whole done it aspect was orchestrated particularly well and the twists were sublime!

So good. A twisty thriller that I didn’t see the end coming. When Brooke returns home to renovate her childhood home, memories of her high school prom and the death of her best friend come flooding back. Not just memories, but threats, and clues that Bailey’s death may not be what it seemed. People’s innocence is questioned including her own and lifelong friendships are challenged. Everyone may not be exactly who they seem.

Did Bailey, the Prom Queen commit suicide or was she murdered? This story is told through Bailey's best friend Brooke’s point of view, in dual timelines, twenty years apart. The high school cliques, especially the mean girls, and the childhood friendships that changed through high school were so relatable.

This thriller had no shortage of potential suspects with motives and so many twists and turns! It kept me guessing until the very end. This was a quick, easy read. If you love a good whodunit mystery, this is for you.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this ARC in return for my voluntary and honest review.

This one fell flat for me, I had wanted to love it after reading a review by another reader. The characters were not relatable and much of the content just felt like a grasp, I wanted to quit this book multiple times but kept on in case it was a slow burn , It just didn't work for me.

I think everyone knows mean girls from high school. Childhood friends Bailey and Brooke are separated when one becomes a cheerleader and has her way in with the popular girls. One is crowned promo queen and after a bonfire is found on the train track dead of an apparent suicide. What really happened? A podcaster is determined to uncover secrets in the small town to find the truth. I give this easily 4 stars.

Brooke and Bailey were the best of friends growing up but when they hit high school and Bailey became a teenager the popular girls wanted her in their click and she was more than happy to accommodate them. Even though this meant she would leave Brooke behind Brooke still tried to talk to her friend and get her to see common sense that they were just using her in with the ultimate scam was played on Bailey and she was found in that look like a suicide not everyone believed it and those who didn’t said Brooke killed her due to jealousy. It’s 20 years later and Brooks mom has passed away and she comes back to empty her home and sell it but while back in her childhood town Brooke sees a stranger whip Bailey’s half of the best friend chain she gave to her when she talks to the woman she pretends her daughter loves quirky jewelry like that so she can buy it off of her but while talking to her she finds out she is a podcaster, there to investigate Bailey’s suicide/murder even though Brooke acts like she has no idea what Hannah is talking about the pass will cross again in like others in the town she will become the focus of one of Hannah‘s podcasts not to mention the mean girls or older but definitely not wiser and it seems just like hi school lacy is still happy to see Brooke and Brooke is happy to see her as well but she is busy not to mention the new guy she started being friends with that runs the coffee shop. Brooke just wanted to clean out her moms house and go back to her daughter but it seems she will have to slay all demons before that can even happen because Bailey will not be the only person that winds up dead in her town. This was such a twisty page turner… I mean OMG you will get whiplash from the twists and turns the narrative takes! This was an awesomely twisty book I know I keep saying twisty and twist but they have so many and it’s so good and OMG if I could read 10 more like this I would be a happy woman. I love this book and highly recommend it I want to thank Bookoucher and net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
