a coffee table book and if that's what you want it is very good. some interesting text and lots of pictures. Obviously it could use more of a contribution from Ace and Peter but that is circumstances beyond the control of the author. It won't give you any great insight but it looks good.

Like the "ABBA at 50" book, this is a general overview of the band's history over a stretch of time using archival photography and researched material. Great to see the evolution with different band members and their early album covers that still hold up and resonate today. Would have liked to have more person input from founding members but still a fun look and nostalgic in a good way.

This book is a great biography of the greatest band in the world, KISS. Covering the band's history over the last 50 years, it contains a comprehensive account of events along with many great photographs of the band and memorabilia. It would be a great gift for any KISS fan and I can't wait to get my own copy! My thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy of this book via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

"KISS at 50" is a good retrospective of five decades of "the hottest band in the world." Each chapter is a snippet about an album, an event, a film, or an appearance. There are interviews with band members, producers, and others, Almost as interesting as the history itself is what was included/not included. There's more than I expected about topics like Casablanca Records.

Why you should read it: There are pictures and details that even the most hardcore fan probably hasn't seen or heard.

Why you might not want to read it: If you're looking for an in-depth study of the band, this isn't it. It's your standard, coffee table overview. It's also not always particularly objective.

I received an advance copy from Motorbooks via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

4 out of 5 stars. Recommended.

Written by a long-standing rock journalist and biographer, KISS at 50 is the ultimate coffee table book for KISS fans everywhere. I enjoyed the 50 years of highlights of the band's long-lasting influence on rock since the 1970s. I also enjoyed learning some new things along the way, including their adoption of the Cadillac, Michigan high school football team and their benefit for muscular dystrophy. Full of cool concert and memorabilia pictures, there was so much to read and look at. You just have to supply the music to complete the mood. Pop this `beauty on your holiday shopping list for your favorite KISS fan!

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Motorbooks for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Kiss at 50 is as much a book about the history of KISS as it is about KISS in contemporary music history, specifically, the history of rock'n'roll.
Highly detailed, with many photographs and written in a snappy, fast-paced style, this is an indispensable reference book for any fan's library of the band.
I thank the author and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
The opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think and feel about this book.
