I don't wanna be dramatic, but this book was effing brilliant. Could not recommend it more! Have never read a book so fast!
The story follows Poppy, a psychologist turned matchmaker, who finds herself facing a daunting challenge when a leak threatens the privacy and discretion of her matchmaking firm. Enter "Mr. Impossible," a banker with a pressing deadline imposed by his grandfather's will. He must find a spouse before his 35th birthday to secure a substantial inheritance. What begins as a straightforward task for Poppy soon becomes a whirlwind of unexpected twists and turns.
Overall, "March Me If You Can" is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a slow-burn romance, witty dialogue, and a fun, entertaining story. Sandy Barker has crafted a novel that will make you laugh, swoon, and eagerly anticipate each new twist in this charming and heartfelt tale. Don't miss out on this outstanding book; it's a journey you won't want to end.
Grumpy Sunshine meets Enemies to Lovers AND a marriage of convenience?! Needless to say, I LOVED IT!
Poppy works for the Ever After Agency, known for its discreet matchmaking skills. Her latest challenge? Pairing up the elusive "Mr. Impossible" with a perfect match, and time is ticking. In walks Tristan Fellows, who's not exactly thrilled about the whole wife-for-inheritance deal. Sparks fly as Poppy and Tristan exchange witty banter on their quest to find Tristan his perfect match. Can Poppy work her magic and find Tristan true love to secure his inheritance, or will her professionalism waver as they get closer? Dive in to uncover the answer - I can hardly wait for the next one!
Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Sandy Barker for allowing me access to this book. All opinions are my own.
When Tristan’s grandfather’s will stipulates that he has to be wed before his 35 birthday, the race is on to find a wife. He turns to the matchmaking agency, and employee Poppy matches him with 3 women, each of whom are aware of the urgency of this marriage of convenience. Yet as they race together to meet each prospective bride, complications are revealed, with time running out and Tristan and Poppy developing feelings for each other, this story reaches a HEA.
Match if you can….
This was a cute story. While I wouldn’t necessarily call Poppy and Tristan enemies, they didn’t hit if off well to start with. Tristan was the grumpy one, which puts him in the hard to get along with spot.
Tristan needs a bride and be needs it quick. His grand father put in his will that Tristan needs to be married by his 35th birthday in order to get his money. Tristan wants nothing to with love or marriage. So he sets out to just find a bride in the name only.
Poppy works for a match making company. They see similar cases like this. Since this has to happen quite fast and Tristan isn’t quite the willing participant, Poppy and Tristan are forced to work even more together with Tristan wanting Poppy along for all his dates. This is where they get to know each other and things don’t go as planned for either one.
This was a quick, fun read. It had some good humor and at the end we always find love.
This book certainly lends itself to the phrase of racing against time. Set to inherit a sizable fortune that comes with the condition of being married at a certain age, Tristan is tasked with finding a wife. His best friend and solicitor, Ravi, opts for him to engage an agency to do just that. What Tristan dies discover for himself is how regimented his life is. He eats the same thing, goes to the gym alone, travels to the same places and has a sparse and quite frankly, a soulless apartment. There doesn't seem to be much joy in his life. Until he met Poppy, he seemed quite content to live in total solitude. Poppy made his life richer and full of color. She brought joy back and even when she tried to find him a match, it was evident that it was these two whom were the ultimate match. They made each other better.
The author kept me wanting to rush back to finish reading the book. It was cute and I loved the banter between Poppy and Tristan. I could really see them starting something real and thought they were good together. But I wasn't buying that they fell in love in just a couple short weeks when their time didn't allow them to have THAT much alone time to really get to know one another. Sure, they had conversations in their down time and when Tristan wasn't actively trying to find a wife. But they were at odds more often than not for a majority of the book that it didn't seem believable to go from enemies to love with the snap of the fingers.
There were a few things I didn't like about the book. First, there's NO EPILOGUE!!! I hate when authors do that. Tristan and Poppy have only a professional relationship (with some lines crossed) for most of the book. So the romance between them isn't there. There's flirting, but there's none of the typical romance associated with their relationship. They don't decide to become more until the last chapter or two and then it's that they have to get married within 2 weeks. The author only gives us them getting married and that's it. An epilogue that showed them actually living together as a married couple in love would have helped make this story more believable. And what ever happened with the $$$? So much of the book was spent around the drama with Tristan's family and the will being contested. Yet the author completely drops that from the plot at the end and we're left only assuming everything goes exactly as Tristan had hoped.
Second, I didn't think Poppy and her agency were very good at their jobs. Tristan's first two matches were so wrong that they should have caught that. They could have disclosed the Italian Contessa's intentions and the fact that she was married. But nope, they just kept that part a secret and wasted his whole weekend for nothing. Then they didn't vet the second girl very well. For them to be such an elite agency who represents such well-known and high end clients, surely they'd pull financial records of their clients to make sure there are no red flags. They completely botched that match too and missed a huge red flag. And for some reason, Tristan actually still wanted to help the girl because he felt bad for her. He had a heart, I'll give him that, but it wasn't his fault she didn't disclose that major bombshell. The whole agency just didn't sit right with me since they didn't come off as elite but rather amateurs.
Third, so much of this book is spent on Tristan and his relationship with the other 3 women that it made his 'romance' with Poppy seem like an afterthought. The book just seemed incomplete ending the way it did after so much build-up and I really needed that deeper connection with them as a couple.
The next book sounds promising. At least we got a brief glimpse into Poppy's life months later.
It took me a few chapters to grow fond of the characters even though they’re both insta-likable, but past that, I truly enjoyed their dynamic—who doesn’t like a good old grump? Match Me If You Can is fun and quick to read, with Barker’s gorgeous traveling-sight signature, well-paced and delightfully cheering.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.
Match Me If You Can is a enemies to lovers rom-com with closed door spice.
It was a slow burn, which is the nature of the enemies to lovers trope, but the characters chemistry was real and I was rooting for them the whole book! Tristan (MMC), is a grumpy finance bro with a looming deadline whilst Poppy (FMC) is fuelled by the love of her job and her general positive outlook on life.
This forbidden love, workplace romance is good. The cover art is perfect and the character development is wonderful. It was a sweet, easy read full of charm and laughs.
I loved this new book by Sandy Barker! The cover right away told me there was going to be some tension between these two mains, and boy, was I right. I'm excited for this series! The Ever After Dating Agency is one of a kind, and I can't wait to see what Ms. Barker has in store next--what dating dilemma will this super-secret agency have to deal with? Whatever it is, I'm here for it (with my blanket, curled up on the couch with my coffee and maybe a pint of ice-cream). Readers, you will love this laughable and sexual tension-filled romcom that had me giggling throughout. A perfect romcom to read any day of the week. For fans of Emily in Paris and for fans who love to read great stories.
Smart banter, swoony moments, romcom vibes
You can really feel the connection between Poppy and Tristan - both personalities are real and, Poppy in particular, likeable. This was a sweet, light read full of charm and humour.

A fantastic start to a new series! I loved this book from the first page. Poppy is relatable character and Tristan is grumpy, with good reason. Both have outside issues affecting them during their business relationship and I think it helped them connect on a personal level. They both seemed very human. I loved the friendships in this book and the settings were great; especially London! I look forward to reading more in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Wow! I absolutely love this story! Great story line, fantastic characters, and oh the heat! Bring on the growly, but he touched you, cinnamon roll Tristan!
Sandy Barker has done it again! I loved her Holiday Romance series, and I can see this new matchmaking agency series becoming another favourite.
I loved the two leads: businesslike (but human) Poppy, and stroppy (but big hearted underneath it all) Tristan. The chemistry between them provides real sparks, the banter between them (and Poppy's friends and colleagues) is witty, and the secondary characters are all interesting enough in their own right that I'm looking forward to learning more about them in future books. And of course, being a Sandy Barker book, we're treated to a little bit of armchair travel too.
I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romcom. Sandy Barker and the Ever After Agency are a match made in heaven!
I'm really sorry but I couldn't go past 38%. I hated this book with a passion.
First, I'm tired of authors who want to use another language for their characters and botch it beyond repair.
It's one thing if the character is learning the language or wants to use a few words to impress their partner, but, if you wittingly choose to have an Italian character speak Italian, the least you could do is research and use the correct words. I guess the author couldn't be bothered to do it because the Italian Countess spoke anything but Italian, and believe me if I say so, as I'm a native speaker.
Secondly, Poppy is so unprofessional that I don't know how she still manages to work and how the matchmaking agency is still in business. She consciously matched her client with a woman who only wanted to fuck him, when he expressly told her that the marriage should've been only on paper.
And she forces him to go along and be quiet for way too long, never telling him his match intentions and her goals. She was stupid, naive, boring, and insufferable.
The language's mistakes almost made me close the book, her idiotic behavior did the trick.
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
