I think starting out with a murder thats never been solved such as Olof Palme and then incorporating it into a murder by Jaan was what needed to start out this book. Span Lokken and Margret Lindberg come into play thirty years later in Minneapolis Minnesota. Span is a journalist and Margret (Maggie) is a minister at a Lutheran church, she was a police officer in LA but she dropped out. Other people come in to play with them throughout the story. Maggie has a little girl called Petra (Cubby) who is kidnaped near the end of the story. The story is opened when there are two people killed, Matthias Hammer, the main minister, and Henrik the janitor. Maggie is the person that finds them, first the janitor with two bullets wholes behind the ear, then Matthias naked nailed onto a cross. The story goes on from here, so I'm not going to ruin it for you so you can finish the book. It's interesting and with many side stories.

Lost Colony takes places first in Sweden with the assassination of their Prime Minister and then in Minneapolis. An activist priest is found murdered in his church and the janitor is also killed in execution style.

A disillusioned newspaper man, Spon, joins forces with the priest's assistant, Maggie, to solve the crimes. In their search they wind up at the door of the local kingpin Jonas. Jonas lives in self imposed isolation but he is quite dangerous.

Is he the culprit? How do the pieces fit together?

This book is chilling, the characters quite strange but well filled out.

A good book for a cold winter's night. Although you may need a nightlight after reading it
