This was a fun cosy mystery with some romance thrown in. A light and enjoyable read, although the ending left a few things unanswered.

Came for the cover, stayed for the story.
I had such a good time with this cozy mystery, and I have to say I'm glad I waited until I could have access to the audiobook because that really elevated my experience. The characters here were all interesting if not always likeable, and I appreciated the main character's flaws that made her more human (though she did sometimes get on my nerves). I'm hoping this becomes a series because I'm ready for more.

Such a cute read! I wasn’t really sure what to expect going in but I did really enjoy it. If you are a fan of mysteries this one is for you! I also really like that there was no foul language or spicy scenes. It’s so refreshing every once in a while to read a book without those things.I thought this was a fun read and it kept me intrigued the whole time!

I'm such a fan of a cozy murder mystery and this one was so darn cozy. Jess and her best friend Kat decide to open a bed and breakfast in their hometown but will the grand opening be the grand closing. Two unsolved murders in one weekend, will Jess use her amateur sleuth skills to solve this mystery or will the killers) get away.
There were several times that I thought I knew who dunnit but boy was I wrong. This was a quick read with lots of humor and twist. This was definitely a game of clue.

Had this one on audio and ebook. It was easy to listen to and a fun cozy mystery. It was kinda a mess though with all the characters. Overal, not to bad, but not my fav.

I’m happy to report that author Sydney Leigh has given her new cozy mystery series, Hudson Valley B&B Mysteries, a wonderful start with Peril in Pink. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for book two!
Jess and her best friend Kat are the new owners of the fancy B&B The Pearl and are wonderful business partners. (Side note: I would love to stay at The Pearl just without the murders!) Not only are they savvy in business, but they are also true crime podcast fans. Thankfully they work together to get to the bottom of the murders at their inn.
In addition to an ebook copy, I was able to grab the audiobook through my library’s Hoopla Digital subscription, which was perfect for a busy weekend. This was such an enjoyable, quick, easy read. The characters were so much fun and the dialogue flowed smoothly. I especially enjoyed the humorous moments and am so impressed when an author can blend humor and mystery so seamlessly. The unexpected twists kept me listening even when I finished with my chores because I just needed to know what was going to happen.

Dollycas's Thoughts
The Pearl B&B in Hudson Valley is having its grand opening and Jess Byrne, her partner, and best friend Kat Miller, along with Jess's brother Nate want it to be a huge success. They have booked reality singing sensation and Jess's ex-boyfriend Lars Armstrong to perform. The guests arrive to check-in and Jess encourages everyone to take pictures and share their opening weekend experience all over social media. #bestplaceever #girlsweekend #thiscallsforwine #Roséallday
Lars arrived with his stepfather/manager, Bob, and Jess knows they have a very strained relationship. Later when Bob is found dead and Lars leads the list of suspects Jess doesn't know what to think. Lars proclaims his innocence and begs Jess to help him. She is worried about how the murder is going to affect her B&B. She wants the killer caught as soon as possible and before her guests, one of whom could be a murderer, checks out, so she agrees to help him. She never imagined she would find him at the scene of another murder.
A killer is on the loose, guests aren't happy, and The Pearl is getting the worst publicity ever. #murder #killer #don'tstayhere Jess asks Kat for help as they try to save the B&B, catch the killer, and hopefully clear Lars' name too.

Jess and Kat take on a huge project turning Jess’s grandmother’s run-down former boarding house into a fun B&B aimed at 20 - 30-year-olds like themselves. With them handling the basic running of the place, Jess's brother running the bar, his wife Sarah doing yoga sessions, her Aunt Marnie working wherever she is needed, and her mother dropping by randomly to throw in her 2 cents, The Pearl B&B is a real family affair. All the characters are well-developed for the first book in the series. Their interactions and dialogues are true to real life.
The Pearl is an amazing B&B. The "behemoth" Queen Anne is set on a large piece of land and has ten guest rooms each with a bottle of sparkling Rosé in the mini-fridge, "a big pool, sprawling deck, and an adjacent garage turned bar" the Cool Vibes Café, all with a soft-blush aesthetic. It's a superb place for a cozy mystery series.
The victim was not a nice man and had caused a lot of trouble. The more we found out about his past more suspects were brought to light. Kat and Jess are obsessed with true crime. "Murderinos" who love the My Favorite Murder podcast. So of course they are primed to be expert amateur sleuths. Detective Holloway wants them to butt out and leave the case to him. The girls learned about some surprising relationships and a second murder twisted everything up. Jess ran herself ragged trying to do everything to be sure her guests were taken care of while trying to solve the case. It was her dog Duke though that gave Jess her A-Ha moment and set the reveal in motion.
Peril in Pink has set this series off to a fine start. A fresh voice that will draw a new generation to cozy mysteries while entertaining current fans of the genre. #funny #sparklingrosé #murder #mystery #Insta-worthy #hudsonvalley I am looking forward to the continuation of the delightful new series.

This was such a cute cozy mystery. The author created a whole vibe. It felt like you could just walk right into this B&B - it came alive.
The B&B is just opening and things are off the a wonderful start….. until someone turns up dead 👀

This was a cozy mystery that started off promising but didn’t really hold my interest. I loved the synopsis and premise of the book but it just didn’t live up to my expectations. It is a pretty quick read but I just didn’t love it.

I'm giving this 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
This was a quick and easy read. If you like cozy mysteries, you might enjoy this one. Unfortunately, I'm starting to realize that I don't enjoy most cozy mysteries. The characters are often annoying, and the dialog comes across as odd and generic. The dialog in this one was particularly annoying. However, the characters were fine.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This was an ok book and i enjoyed the most part of the story
Thank you netgalley for the arc 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Jess and her business partner are finally ready to open up their social media-ready pink paradise of a bed and breakfast! Jess's high school ex-boyfriend, and now a famous singer, Lars, is set to perform on opening night by their gloriously Instagrammable pool. But that same evening, Lars's stepfather and manager, Bob, shows up dead. With no super star performance and the guests trapped at the resort, it's not exactly the opening weekend Jess was hoping for. Determined to figure out what happened and stop the admittedly sexy detective from using Lars as a scapegoat, Jess begins investigating.
I listened to this book on audio. The narrator was generally fine but I wonder if her voice contributed to my impression that many of the characters were overly stereotypical. Jess' old high school rivalries and nicknames weren't endearing, and her obsession with everything going on social media got a bit grating (I say, as a Bookstagrammer). It also felt like Jess was overlooking the most obvious suspect for the entire book, although I didn't quite predict the "why" of it all. It wasn't my favorite cozy mystery read, even if I adore the pretty pink cover.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media for my ALC and Crooked Lane Books for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3 stars - 5/10

This cozy mystery seemed promising from its premise, but it did not hold my interest. The many quirky pop-culture references became too much (and this is from someone who loves all things pop culture ex: music, celebrities, style), it didn't flow in a natural manner.
Hope to revisit one day.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity. All thoughts are my own!

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this eArc of Peril In Pink. I don’t typically read cozy mysteries, but this was a good mix of fluff and twists. I always love a story with a cute pup involved and who doesn’t love Rose all day! Also, a brand new B&B as the setting, sign me up all day! There was a hint of romance and I was here for it.
I felt like the story could have been a bit shorter and there were a lot of characters. I wish we would have had a little more depth with the investigation portion, but maybe I don’t read enough cozy mysteries. I’m a thriller lady through and through.
Definitely pick this one up if you want an easy mystery with a side of rockstar vibes and pop culture references. Congratulations on this debut novel by Sydney Leigh.

First of all, thank you to netgalley & the publisher for the arc of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions are my own!
I didn't truly knew what to expect from the this book but I ended up liking it a lot. The entire B&B concept was amazing and they mystery was AWESOME! I totally guessed part of it and then other things totally threw me off but I love that. Jess & Kat's friendship is EVERYTHING! Nate is the bestest brother. Lars is a cutie and the detective is fineee as well. 🫣
The only thing I didn't like was the constant # mentions like just why? And the rushing of the romance in the final chapter threw me off completely. There was no need for it! 😭
Other than that this is a really good book. I definitely recommend it for the mystery!

B & B vibes are all the rage, especially when a murder happens on opening weekend. Best friends who have dumped their life savings in restoring a B & B that was a house in their families. Opening weekend turns up to be more popular than they anticipated, and the media coverage isn't exactly what they had in mind. With surprise guest, family drama, and a hot detective. Buckle up, this was a GREAT read and will be perfect for your beach bag!

I was looking forward to this cozy mystery, especially because of the B&B setting. In the end unfortunately I didn't like it as much as I had hoped. I did not find the main character very likeable and there just too many characters to keep track of.
What I did like was the friendship between Jess & Kat, the setting, the straightforward mystery and the mix of influencers and pop culture.

I cannot wait to read more of this series! I liked the B&B aspect and the mystery was a solid mystery. Interesting plot, fun events, believable characters; a win!
I received an advanced audio copy. All thoughts are my own.

This was a short, cozy mystery novel! I love reading cozy mysteries. They always seem to get me out of reading funk, no matter what.

First of I want to thank NetGalley, the Publisher and the author for the ARC of this book.
Unfortunately this one was not for me. I wanted to love this book so bad and tried to read it multiple times but I had to DNF.
The story was way to drawn out with too many pop culture references and hashtags just to make up the word count. The character were extremely annoying and I could not get myself to care about any of them.
I tried pushing through but at the 50% mark I decided that it was not for me and I would rather just DNF. If you prefer a slower moving book this might be for you but as someone who likes fast paced stories I could not connect to this book.
