I. Need. More. Of. This.

The deaf/hoh (hard of hearing) rep was great. It did a good job of explaining that hoh is different from complete deafness, as well as the difficulties being hoh brings. Kanon isn't 100% perfect at lip reading, and she makes it explicitly clear that there are times when it's difficult, or impossible, for her to do. Saki isn't the perfect friend. She messes up at times but is good at reminding herself to fix her mistakes. Their lack of perfection early on in their friendship makes this so much more realistic.

The queerness is subtle so far. I was hoping it would be a bit more obvious as this is marketed as a GL/yuri mangas. Saki clearly thinks Kanon is pretty, but it's not really expressed in a romantic way, yet. Kanon also bumps into an ex-friend who could potentially be an ex-girlfriend. In its final pages, There was a quick "will they or won't they" kiss moment, but it was excused away as Kanon leaned in to hear Saki better.

cw: there are some ableist things said about Kanon behind her back, and Saki doesn't challenge them

this is a beautiful story about the developing story between Saki and Kanon. It was so heartwarming to see Kanon open up to Saki even though she was hesitant at first. I cant wait to see where their relationship takes us.

This one is going to be one of my favorite manga series for a while. I can't wait to read the second volume.

I believe the story will probably be a gl in the long run, but the fist volume fucus in the beginning of the two protagonist friendship.

Kanon is trying to let new people around her again.
Saki wants to be her friend (maybe more), and she's trying to learn more about kanon besides her disability.

I loved every moment, especially reading how the two started opening more to each other.

I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship progress and what other friends get added to the stories.

I truly recommend giving the story a try if you're looking for something light but full of emotions.
Be aware that it has mentions of discrimination and bullying. It is implied that at some point, it will also talk about sexuality.

I really enjoyed this sapphic manga! Gay rep on top of invisible disability rep in a manga is so so rare and it was done pretty well too. The romance aspect is very light so if you dislike slow-burns/one-sided love stories you won't like this but those are my favorite so this was perfect. The disabled character is a bit meaner at the start of the story which could be off-putting for some readers but coming from my own experience as a disabled younger person it is really hard to be nice all the time when you are so used to being told you are faking it or are too hard to be around due to your condition. I think the sapphic representation in this already is so accurate and I can see my younger self in both the lead characters which is always a bonus. Overall, This is a series I would definitely continue and will most likely add to my physical collection so I recommend giving it a read if the synopsis seems like something you're into. :)

I got an ARC of this book.

It was so cute and wholesome. I love seeing more disabilities popping up in media, but as I am not Deaf I do not know if this is great representation of the Japanese Deaf experience. I liked that there was some talk about hearing aides, sign language, and lip reading, but that it wasn't a lesson. It felt like normal conversations between friends.

The f/f aspect was super light, but in a way that felt like it could grow with consent. That there was something building, but they were learning each other first. I appreciated that it wasn't insta-love and not just immediately coming out. It was clear that they hadn't really thought about romance like this before, but that isn't stopping it from happening.

It was a nice read, I look forward to the second volume.

Super cute and fun read that introduces us a new friendship between two high school girls that will hopefully turn into more! I smiled the whole time I was reading this, it’s definitely a heartwarming beginning to a new manga. Hopefully I’ll be able to read volume two soon!

My first read for our Graphicsathon Disability challenge this month and I loved it. I love seeing hoh rep in books, there's really nothing I relate to more, but Kanon reads manga too so we're basically the same person, right??

This manga was so beautiful. I absolutely love the relationship between Saki and Kanon. I didn't read the description and decided to go into this blind and that was the best decision I've ever made! It made finding out that Kanon was hard of hearing so much more impactful. I can't wait to continue the journey with Kanon and Saki and watch as their relationship blooms.

At first I was attracted by the cover because it gave me yuri vibes so I went for it but Iwhen I starterd to read I got suprised to see that we got a hard hearing person. Ans as a deaf persone was happy i could relate to the character. Everthing she said about her daily struggles are the same as mine so it was good to see it thins kind of rappresentation that we neeed more of but are very few in mangas.
I really liked the amin character she does an effort to understand her disabilty and to be friends wih her and we can see her struggle probably with her sexuality. Their friendships is very cute and I found myself motre than once at giggling and just melting from cuteness. I can't wait to read the next volume, I missed reading this kind of manga.

This was adorably heartwarming and sweet.

Here are some of the things I loved about the manga:

- The relationship between Saki and Kanon is so sweet and heartwarming (I'm repeating myself, I know). I loved seeing them grow closer and learn more about each other.
- The manga does a wonderful job of portraying Kanon's hard of hearing experience. I don't know how accurate it is, but it seemed to be respectful and educational.
- The art is beautiful and delicate. Kuzushiro does a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters and the beauty of the world around them.
- The story is slow-paced, but it is never boring. Kuzushiro takes their time to develop the characters and their relationships, and it makes the story all the more meaningful.

Overall, I highly recommend The Moon on a Rainy Night to anyone looking for a heartwarming and wholesome yuri manga.

This was so cute!! Saki and Kanon are adorable together and I am going to read the next volume immediately! I cannot wait to see how their relationship progresses throughout this series.

The beautiful cover and lovely title of this manga is what made me want to read it.

The story really surprised me in the best way! I thought it was just going to be a cute and sweet story but it was so much more.

Saki lives in Iwate and is about to start high school. She’s struggling with her piano teacher quitting out of the blue and her mom questioning if she should continue playing.

After meeting a beautiful stranger one day, by bumping into her on the street, she secretly hopes they would go to the same high school.

Dreams come true sometimes and they’re not only in the same class together but even sitting right next to eachother!

Her name is Kanon and she is hard of hearing. The teacher tries to talk to the class about it but Kanon makes it very clear she wants no help and she just wants to be left alone. She doesn’t talk to anyone.

I loved how the teacher talked to Saki alone after class and asked her to keep an eye on Kanon. Although Saki lies to Kanon about it, I think she wanted to be friends with Kanon anyway so it didn’t feel like a true lie.

But Kanon is struggling with things that happened in the past and just finds it easier to be left alone. She has built an almost impenetrable wall around her and finds escape in a very similar way I do.

Saki does not give up though and it’s that and her silliness that breach those walls.

Their friendship is a rocky path, where I learned a lot about feelings, insecurities, struggles and relationship issues faced by the hard of hearing.

Their friendship not only helps Kanon, who had given up. Saki brings her closer to others too and I think more feelings than just friendship start developing between Saki and Kanon.

I loved Saki and Kanon and I closed this manga with a smile!

This is a sweet manga that gives me similar vibes to I Hear The Sunspot just with a sapphic undertone (at the moment). The characters are sweet although a bit too reminiscent of IHTS, it feels a bit copy and paste. HOWEVER, I do think these stories should exist and it looks like the mangaka did research as well as had a research assistant to provide an accurate depiction of our hard of hearing love interest. I would love to see a manga where our deaf or hard of hearing character is the protagonist and we get their POV more. IHTS, A Silent Voice and now this one still focus entirely on the deaf or hard of hearing character as a love interest who makes the protagonist a better person and grow. And maybe there is a manga out there that has this and I haven’t found it yet - I would love to know. Besides all that, this is a very sweet budding love story (hopefully at least) between two girls. Highly recommend for those who enjoy I Hear The Sunspot and A Silent Voice!

This manga is very light on any romance for a first book, but it does a good job of developing both characters and exploring the experience of a hard of hearing teenager. I would recommend this to someone interested in a quick easy manga read that also explores a different aspect of Japanese culture or the high school experience.

This is about Kanon who’s hard of hearing and Saki who’s trying to befriend her. They run into each other quickly one day and ends with Kanon giving Saki a bandaid. Saki thinks that Kanon is very pretty and wonders if she’ll see her again and lo and behold, she’s right beside her in class next time she enters.

Kanon explains that she doesn’t try to get close to people because of her hearing but Saki doesn’t give up and I think this is a cute beginning to a series I’d like to continue!

Sweet friendship between Saki and Kanon. I enjoy how slowly Kanon open up to Saki and make friend with other girls. Saki have another secret and i think she cant hold it to long. I curious what happend next.

This is a sweet slice of life about two girls learning to overcome a hearing barrier to grow a friendship. To start, i love the accuracy that they put into how hearing loss isnt just a one type fits all and i feel like the struggles she faces and how she adapts is a good learning experience as a reader.
The art is super cute, i found it so easy to lose myself in the story and before i knew it I was on the last page!

This sapphic manga was so cute. A new girl, Kanon, starts at school and Saki can’t stop thinking about her, she’s so different from anyone, especially as she is Hard of Hearing. But Kanon tells everyone from the first day to just leave her alone.

Every time I see a story with someone Deaf or HOH I can’t help but think of myself and my own partner. The misunderstandings, the things we’ve both had to learn together, attempting to learn sign language. This book got it right and I was surprised to see all the sources listed at the back. I really enjoyed this simple and cute story.
