It looks like the animal school will be chaos – the pupils haven't even got on the school bus and they're teasing, arguing, butting heads (literally, in the shape of the goat). But fear not, for they take the disembodied words of Momma Wombat (aka Mombat) with them. Said words rhyme but ignore all sense of metre, and dish out advice about what we could do with our fellows when animosity crops up, from laughing together and snacking together to sharing teddy bears.
Yes, we're very much on the optimistic side of things here, especially when this talks – on these pages and in the blurb – about how this could and should apply to countries as well as individuals. Naivety aside, this is not too bad – the pages are perhaps a little too busy with too many characters, but they look fine generally, and the sentiment is not exactly objectionable. Is this something competent and powerful enough to make a difference? I sincerely doubt, though, meaning this is something worth having around, but not worth rushing anywhere to obtain in the first place.
What an adorable anti-bullying book featuring animals (oh! And it rhymes which for me is the equivalent of pockets in a dress lol). GORGEOUS full color illustrations and ALL the animals!!! A timely message for the world that we’re raising our littles in. I can’t wait to read this to my own little grandmuffin when he’s old enough to understand – until then, we will just appreciate the rhyming cadence and beautiful pictures of sweet animals. Thank you so much to Phyllis Schwartz, Netgalley and Acorn publishing for providing me with a digital advanced copy. This honest review is 100% my own.
