This was absolutely amazing! I was totally enthralled with this story from beginning to end, I could barely put it down, and when I finally read the last page, the house was dark, I was hungry, thirsty, needed to pee and my neck was stiff. But damn, it was worth it!
This story was so twisty it kept me entertained the whole way through! I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was hard to put down!!!
This was a nice, fast-paced thriller. I liked the writing style. I just wished for a little more character development. I'll read more from the author in the future.
A gripping psychological thriller that explores the complexities of identity and deception, with a twist-filled plot and an unforgettable ending, sheer brilliance .
A pretty good story…of sisters who are enemies, and the extent one would go for seeming revenge. I thought there was a bit too much pensivenesss throughout, and some naivety.
Struggling with depression and haunted by the trauma, Shay hires a new maid to assist with household tasks during her recovery. However, the arrival of the new maid triggers a series of events that plunge Shay into a sinister web of deception and betrayal.
The novel skillfully explores the complexities of Shay's past, intertwining a painful childhood history with the present-day struggles she faces. As secrets unravel and the true nature of the new maid is revealed, Shay is forced to confront a past she desperately sought to forget.
This is a riveting tale of suspense, blending psychological thrills with a compelling exploration of trauma and memory. The story expertly reveals the darkness lurking behind the façade of a seemingly perfect life. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with layers of mystery and emotional depth, this novel is a must-read.
I would have enjoyed this book more if not for Suzy and her book tours. She is quite rude and not nice to book reviewers. By rude I mean she ignores messages and cares more about her making money than the books she promotes.
I just reviewed The Anchorman's Wife by Joseph Souza. #TheAnchormansWife #NetGalley
Enjoyed this one. Although will admit there were a few parts that felt they drug on a bit and weren’t as fast paced as other parts.
But overall I enjoyed the story and will recommend to friends.
The Anchorman's Wife had an interesting start, but I felt like it wavered in the middle. The story got better towards the end, and I almost gave it three stars (rounding up), but then the end required a lot of stretching the bounds of believability and ended up with two stars from me.
THE ANCHORMAN’S WIFE was an enjoyable book to read. It had a strong start right from the very first few pages, but after just a few pages, it slowed way down. The first entire part seemed to drag on. When part two started again, there was great momentum, and the book started to get more entertaining again. Unfortunately, it started to ebb again. The structure of the book reads as if a very solid outline was created. Strong development was added in, and then as if it wasn’t long enough, the author went back through and plugged in filler. The filler, at times, was redundant, didn’t move the plot along, or was just not fitting with the rest of the quality of the book.
I won't give away any spoilers, but the ending was definitely the most captivating and leaves us readers wondering whether there could possibly be a sequel.
Thank you, NetGalley, Level Best BOoks, and Joseph Souza, for the opportunity to read this digital ARC for my honest review.
In this twisty thriller the anchorman's wife, Shay, suffers a physical attack resulting in a serious head injury leading to many unanswered questions. And so it begins...I enjoyed the surprising turn the story took and seeing how the conclusion was going to play out. It was tough to know who to trust in this story and the feeling of uncertainty adds to the tension of trying to figure out the perpetrator. I don't want to say too much and give anything away so you may just have to give this one a try and see if you can guess the plotline as the clues are revealed.
I loved the multiple POVs with two of them being unlikeable characters which really helped the pace moving after a twist was revealed a little early one. I hadn’t had it completely figured out by the time it was revealed but it made sense. I felt for Shay and really enjoyed her POV especially after part II. I wanted a couple people to get what was coming to them. There was. small plot hole that one character did mention towards the end, but with knowing the characters personality I can see why they missed the details. It didn’t take away anything from the story for me just a question that popped up a couple times while I was reading. While it was left a little open-ended I liked where the characters ended up. It was an entertaining and fast read.
Overall, this was a thriller. I debated 3 or 4 stars, but any book that has me thinking about it this hard deserves the extra star.
Here’s what I loved: The premise of this book caught my eye immediately. Head trauma and then things go haywire around the house and in life? A famous husband and formerly-famous wife? A parent who left their career to be a stay-at-home mom? I also loved how quickly things started going off the rails at the beginning of the book. I also loved how we saw Shay’s evolution as a person, and the lengths she would go to survive to get back to her daughter.
Here’s what I didn’t: the twist was revealed way too early. The POV of a 12-year old shouldn’t read like the POV of the other adults in the story. And while I’m a fan of completely unhinged plot lines, this one was even further unhinged and unbelievable than most. It could have been 15-20% shorter with mid-book editing to tighten the story. There were loose ends, plot holes, and unexplained wrap-up of certain things. And there was a lot of repetitiveness and elementary dialogue.
I would love to tell you this was a twisty thriller, but it wasn’t super twisty. I did love seeing the twist and then the resolution play out! But also would have loved a twist in the last 10-15% of the book to bring things home.
Shay wells is the wife of the news anchorman Gideon wells. She was attacked one night and is suffering from the injuries that occurred which is only the beginning. This is fast paced from the beginning you won’t be able to put it down
Cheering and worried about Shay, as she recovers from an assault outside a soup kitchen. This was a fast paced, interesting book, but I was disappointed at the ending. No one likes waiting for a conclusion, unless they know ahead that that is what they are reading.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Joseph Souza and Level Best Books for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
3⭐ - Shay is married to Boston's most popular news anchorman and not so fateful Gideon Wells.
One night after volunteering at the local soup kitchen, Shay gets attacked - leaving her for dead.
After the attack she struggles to remember who attacked her and is accused of doing several things she doesn't remember, like harming a dog. Something she would never dream of doing before her attack however there is video footage of her doing this. So how could she deny it?
With a husband who's constantly busy with his job and a blind daughter Quinn, on top of Shay's own head injury. She decides to hire a new maid, Tatyana to help around the house. But can the new maid be trusted, is the maid really who she says she is?
Overall this was a good book, I particularly enjoyed the first half of the book - I kept reading because I wanted to know if the maid was who she said she was. The second half of the book felt too predictable and I felt like the ending wasn't really a fitting ending for this book.
Let's be honest right now, Im a sucker for a great cover.
The Anchorman's Wife, instantly captivated my attention and I was curious to know more.
After reading the synopsis, I knew this book was meant for me and I dove right on in.
Joseph Souza, you are a mastermind behind that keyboard of yours and I am totally here for it!
I had read a few of Souza's short stories before but when it came to The Anchorman's Wife, I was completely consumed and left with my jaw on the floor.
Talk about a twist!

Author Joseph Souza writes an engaging story filled with suspense and many twists. The different character perspectives, well-developed plot, and open ending make this novel a page-turner. I thank Net Galley for allowing me to read and review it. #NetGalley #TheAnchorman’sWife #thriller
This was a fun read, definitely enjoyable and a good read, but I hate that they left it on a cliffhanger for a sequel? I just hate having to interpret an ending!
3.5 stars
This was entertaining and I did enjoy it. I figured out what was going on pretty early on but it was still worth reading. I feel like the ending left things a little open, there could possibly be a sequel. In fact, I am quite hoping there is a sequel!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
I enjoyed the unpredictability and development of this story. Even when I guessed correctly at what was going on, it was presented in a much more interesting manner. I hadn't read any of Joseph Souza's work before, but will definitely be looking at his previous books and watching for what comes next.
