Luna inherits half a farm, when the owner passes away. she learns the owner is her grandfather. she has to learn to work with the person who inherited the other half of the farm. very good read..
I adore Jill Shalvis and her books. She is my go-to author for stories that make me happy, sad, smile, laugh, etc. The characters in this 5th book in the Sunrise Cove series does not disappoint. I read the first four in record time and have been anticipating the release of this one. I am SO grateful I was able to read and review before the official release date. I can’t wait for my physical copy to come in!
Shalvis always brightens my day when I dive into a new group of snarky characters who delight my soul with humor and smartassisms on their way towards happily ever after!
Sunrise Cove never fails to deliver on realistic characters with past hang-ups that haunt them as they try to connect with the life they have been handed. I love the way Shalvis creates a family out of mismatched strays and warms a readers heart along the way. Always looking forward to more in this series!
The bright spot by Jill shalvis. Luna finds out that her real grandfather whom she has been working for with out knowing this. Left her half of a tourist spot. That is deep in debt. Jamerson the man who he has helped through his life owns the other 50%. Sexual tension flies
I was given an early reader copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Another fun read from Jill Shalvis! The relationship between Luna and the workers at Apple Ridge Farm are what all of us wish for in our work environment. I especially loved the names of the rescue animals who live on the farm. I also loved watching the relationship between Luna and Jameson change and grow. A must read for Jill Shalvis fans!
This was an entertaining read. I loved seeing Jameson loosen up and really be part of a family. Luna and her merry band of misfits share something special and unique.
Dual POV (with a bonus B storyline with a third POV)
Enemies to lovers
Work nemesis
Grumpy/ sunshine
He falls first
Forced proximity
Slow burn romance
It must have been kismet that I read The Bright Spot on a difficult rainy day because this book makes my heart glow. Jill Shalvis is the crowned darling of weaving the main characters with multifaceted secondary characters.
Luna and Jameson, Willow and Shayne, Chef and Milo, Shep and his piggy bank, Stella and her perfect whimsicalities, Jeb and his silent nature, and the precious animals like Stout and DZ 💕
A must read that will leave you with a content smile for the rest of the day. 🤗
Jill Shalvis can do no wrong. Everything she writes is amazing and this was nothing short of what I expect.
Jill Shalvis books bring that glow to the center of your chest, like Christmas candlelight and puppies. The Bright Spot is definitely just that - a bright spot for romance readers. And now if I could just get a cuddle with Dammit Ziggy!
Loved the story. The reader is drawn into the story and winds up laughing at the "employee's antics " to save Luna from the evil accountant who was sent to close the business. Luna has always felt miss understood by her family / with the exception of her grandmother. Luna was adopted at birth by her current family - but unbeknownst to her the owner of the business she has been running is really her grandfather.
She rescues people as the farm rescues animals. Each employee is part of her family (person and animals she has adopted as needing her).
Silas lost relationships with both his wife and daughter - because he was obsessed running the office / businesses. He researched where his granddaughter was living and where she went to school (college).
He hires her without ever telling her that he was her biological grandfather. Upon his death he leaves 1/2 of the farm to Luna. The other 1/2 he leaves to Jameson (a man he adopted as a teenager).
The antics of all the farm members will make you laugh and cry.
I thought this book was so charming, super cute and a fun story. The setting of this story is stunning!! I totally want to visit Apple Ridge farm! I wish I could jump into the book and take in all the gorgeous scenery! If you follow Jill Shalvis on social media, you get a glimpse of a lot of her setting inspiration for her stories. ;)
Luna runs a farm with adorable animals especially the goats. Then her boss Silas dies and she discovers two BIG things. One she has now become part owner of the farm, and second he was her biological grandfather. She is definitely a gal I want to be friends with!! A hardworker, honest, funny and loyal. I felt like I could relate to her on several different levels. Her loyalty and love that she has for her "framily" is admirable. Jameson is resourceful, trustworthy, willing to listen & accept suggestions, etc and absolutely swoon worthy. He comes to town to honor a request from his deceased mentor/father figure. Both Luna & Jameson have great chemistry (great kiss) and despite the somewhat awkward "meet cute" (him turning her down when she offered "more"), you know there was more that met the eyes for them and it wasn't the end - especially when they come to find out that each other are the 50/50 owners of the farm; I mean what are the chances?! ;) . Luna & Jameson have come from trust and abandonment issues, so make it difficult to let others in but it allowed both of them to relate to each other, and I feel further strengthen their love and feelings for each other.. You can't help but love/root for them and the journey life takes them on through this farm, Of course, their love story isn't all perfect - plenty of bumps, weeding through personal messiness but all with plenty of fun too!! I mean who wouldn't love a baby goat?? The way all the characters (main and side - human & animal) interacted with each other was hilarious at times and at other times so sweet.
You won't be disappointed in this happily ever read!
Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!
Cute book with eccentric characters, fun rescue animals and a lot of heart.
Luna has her world torn apart when her boss on the farm she runs passes away and leaves her half ownership...and the will reveals she is his granddaughter. While she is trying to wade through the lies and messiness, she meets Jameson who is her new business partner.
Even though they seem to come from 2 different worlds, they bond and have to work together to save the farm. Along the way there are plenty of bumps, fun and crazy employees!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A book of found family and finding love where you don’t expect it.
I thought this book was charming if not my favorite that has ever been written. Our FMC finds out her boss was actually her grandfather and he left her HALF of the farm in his will. The other half? To the guy she almost had a ONS at the local bar. They have to work together to save the farm and give each other what they were missing.
Perfectly average cute romance. Recommend to anyone just needing to breeze through a good book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
A sweet story centered around a farm and it's cast of characters, human and animal. With likeable, well written characters, and a interesting story, this is a enjoyable read and I rooted for all the characters.
Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!
So my quick thoughts aren’t exactly quick but these are some of the other things I’ve been reading lately ;).
A Risk Worth Taking by Jessica Joyce. This novelette is so good! I got major swoons from it, from the steam to the romantic moments where they do things like hold hands *exclamation point!!* Everything about Joyce’s writing feels thoughtful & precise & the softness & tension are divine. Basically these leads have one magical night together before one of them is about to leave town—but could they have more too?! The only thing I wanted was more at the end. But your girl is greedy. It was a touch shy of perfect for me for that reason but also I feel like my expectations in that regard are a bit demanding and also the book is close enough that I’m saying 5 ⭐️. Out now!
The Bookbinder’s Guide to Love by Katherine Garbera. My fave parts of this one are the way the leads bond over their love & appreciation of books & the soft, awkward way they try to open up to each other. But while this one has its positive moments by the end it tumbles into “not working for me” territory. Both of these leads have their fair share of family trauma & that definitely plays a part in how the disappointing ending plays out. But I couldn’t understand the heroine’s actions at the end & it has one of the things that frustrates me: when IMO one lead is clearly in the wrong but for some reason *the other* leads ends up making the big gesture & apologizing? In the end this one has some definite positives but it’s 2.5 ️⭐️for me. Out 02/23. (Thanks @harlequinbooks @harlequinpublicityteam for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.)
The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis. I was such a Jill Shalvis fan in my younger years & I still see many of the reasons why: lovable leads, a sense of community, sweetness. But this book started being taken over by a plot featuring secondary characters & I was frustrated with how it played out, to a degree that it affected my feelings about the overall story. There is some real sweetness here with some lovely gestures made by each lead & by the other characters that work at the farm they all love, but I wanted less focus on the other couple. 3.5 ⭐️️, out 01/16. (Thanks to @avonbooks & Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.)
This is a really cute book filled with quirky characters, cute animals and a romance. The book had me laughing out loud in spots. If you are looking for a really cute fun read this is it. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
It’s always a delight to read the uplifting stories in this series. All are set with gorgeous scenery around lake Tahoe with it’s stunning views. It is easily read as a standalone at a place I’ve always wanted to visit. Luna manages a farm where there’s everything from orchards, rescue animals with personalities, an eccentric palm-reading grandma, the café and knickknack shops. The owner, her boss, has passed away leaving ownership and her future upside-down. When Jameson arrives with revelations about the future of the farm, Luna’s world is rearranged. The long held secrets about the farm are life-changing. Finances are critically in the red. All the staff who depend on Luna could become unemployed. There is very little time to come up with cash and solutions. Luna is quite resentful of Jameson and his unwanted analytic reasoning. They need a plan to save the farm. Can they pull together with the community’s help, could they get a bank loan? Just as Luna begins to trust Jameson, more secrets come out. I loved all the quirky characters and adored the crazy critters. There is suspense and attraction brewing between them. It was a joy to read!
Thanks to NetGalley for providing a digital advance reader copy of “The Bright Spot” Sunrise Cove Series #5, by Jill Shalvis, HarperCollins Publishers. These are all my own honest personal thoughts and opinions given voluntarily without compensation.
Loved it! This author just thrills me with her books! This was such a cute book. DZ was my favorite character and definitely stole my heart. The cast was comedic and the tale was relaxing! I highly recommend this laid back book with a HEA romance.
What did I like? This was story telling at its finest! I always have a great time when picking up a romance by this author. Not a whole lot of drama and a sweet spot for a romance. Best time spent with this book! I adored it! Five huge stars!
I really loved Luna's story. The type of person she was and why she was like that. Having been adopted and not knowing that Silas who gave her a job at his farm and kept her afloat, was her grandfather. None of this did she find out until after he died and she got 50% of the farm. The other 50% went to Jameson. See how well they do together and are they able to keep the place going . All of Jill'd books are very good but to me is the best one yet. You didn't want to put it down. A GREAT READ,
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Stella was the fortune teller and also Luna's adopted Grandmother. Chef, Luna's ex-boyfriend, Luna and Willow. The Dammit Ziggy. Also Jameson. I could not pick just one of the characters that I liked the most.
This book will make you laugh and sometimes make you almost cry. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did. Check it out, you will be glad that you did.
