Loved it. I laughed, I cried, I didn't want it to end. I am eager for the next one in this wonderful series. It would be terrific to be a part of this unusual group of people working the farm. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Luna and Jameson inherit 50% of the farm and orchard Luna has ,managed for years. She is dedicated to this place because it gave her a family of choice. Jameson was only going to swoop in and fix the farms issues, but he stats to fall in love with the farm and Luna. Lots of great secondary characters. Lots of quirky rescue animals.
Luna is a very independent woman who is in charge of Apple Ridge Farm. When the owner dies, the farm’s future is at stake, but a handsome stranger arrives to try to help save the farm. This was a sweet, predictable romance with a great ending!
Jill Shalvis has a unique ability to create characters that are at times funny but always extremely likeable. Characters that you just want to have happy ever afters. In her latest book, Shalvis returns to Sunrise Cove with another stand-alone novel set around Lake Tahoe. Luna is struggling to keep an apple farm afloat when the owner dies leaving her half ownership. Can she convince the other half owner that the farm can be successful, and more importantly can they manage to pay off the upcoming balloon payment? But when secrets come out, can Luna be sure of anything in her life?
Wonderful characters, enjoyable storyline, what more could you ask for?
Jill Shalvis cuts to the hard like always. I love her characters and the way she brings humor and emotion to the page. I am loving this mountain based series.
The Bright Spot is part of a series but I believe can be read as a standalone. Luna runs a farm with adorable animals especially the goats. When her boss Silas dies, she finds out two things. One she is Fifty percent owner. Second he was her biological grandfather. He leaves the other fifty percent to Jameson. Silas took him under his wing when he was a teenager. He is also a number guy. The farm has ballon payment due. What follows is how they try to save the farm. You will also love the side characters and their story. I enjoyed the book very much. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon/Harper Voyager for the
E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
This was a 4 star read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. She has abandonment issues and is attached to the farm. His point of view is the numbers are everything. The animals just make you smile especially DZ.
*************************************I received an ARC for my honest opinion from NetGalley***************************
Just reading the very start of this story, book by the inimitable Jill Shalvis, is guaranteed to put you in a wondrous mood. It truly, and perhaps sounds like a bad pun, will put you in a bright mood. THE BRIGHT SPOT is still another addition to my already overflowing collection of books by this delightful author who truly is like a ray of sunshine. Her list of devoted fans is already huge. THE BRIGHT SPOT is destined to be one of the best by the best.
Meet Luna Wright. Bright, smart, loving woman who cares deeply for her farm, rescues, friends. Luna had an unbalanced life in social services. She would have loved a family. But it was not to be. Now her just deceased gruff boss turns out to have been her grandfather. So sad to have missed finding her only true biological relative.
Jameson has a different relationship with Luna’s grandfather. Silas functioned as a mentor for this young man with a proficiency for numbers and business, but no practical experience with being a member of a family since losing his mom. Jameson considered his closeness with Silas as the best relationship of his life.
Silas was no one’s vision of the perfect anyone. Bossy, cold and detached is how people viewed Silas. Much to Luna’s dismay she never had a chance to have a grandfather and in some way that leaves Luna feeling less worthy. And candidly a bit envious of Jameson.
Jameson job, as set by Silas and the will was to help save the farm. Essentially meaning save Lunas future as her partner. Jameson was used to saving companies but that was usually at the expense of employees and other parts he considered inessential to the goal of basically saving a sinking ship. Lunas farm was a sinking ship.
Supporting cast of THE BRIGHT SPOT includes some really terrific furry friends, all rescues. Wait till you meet Dammit Ziggy. Luna considers her animals the best part of the farm. They love her unconditionally and when faced with the possibility that the farm will have to be sold this is the part that breaks her heart. This was finally the family she needed. Both Jameson and Luna have something essential for them, a desire to be someone’s forever.
There is certainly a vast amount of pathos and angst front and center in THE BRIGHT SPOT, and I am sure Jill Shalvis designed it so that it felt real. Her characters have great depth so that they avoid seeming caricatures. This writer makes sure you get invested in the well-being of all her characters, two and four footed. There is no denying THE BRIGHT SPOT lives up to its title.
The Bright Spot, by Jill Shalvis, is a fun contemporary romance filled with eccentric characters, friends and family, who come together when the going gets rough. Jameson swoops in and captures the hearts of the team at Apple Ridge Farm, including Luna's. Will he be able to hold those hearts?? I loved the rescued animal characters too; they added such an entertaining aspect to the story. I read a complimentary advance reader copy from NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own. Be forewarned there are some open bedroom scenes. Readers who enjoy heartwarming stories will not want to miss The Bright Spot.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Luna has her hands full with her work. She has to work with a man who works in finance and has no experience on a farm. The longer they earn together. The more they click. I liked this book.
I used to be a big fan of Jill Shalvis books because I believed that each one was original and unique. However, this series, the Sunrise Cover series, seems to be entirely formulaic. There's always the trope of a found family, and one of the main characters is always grumpy.
I did like Luna, Willow, and Jameson, but I felt like I had read about them before. While I do think parts of it go into depth well, I just wanted to read something different, not the same book of hers that I had been reading.
This book was just heartwarming and good. I enjoyed the story line, and the way Jill Shalvis writes sucks you into the story. The main characters were all the workers of the farm, and Jameson who they welcome with open arms. I love Luna, Willow, the grandmother (she's a hoot), and of course Jameson is swoonworthy. I wanted to crawl into the book and visit the farm, and I really didn't want the book to end. It was really good. 6 stars (out of 5)!! I can't wait to read more from Jill Shalvis. I haven't read anything from her that I didn't love.
This book was very very good. Luna was managing a farm with a bunch of friends and family. The owner Seth didn't come around much and she thought she was doing a good job. Jameson shows up and is now the 1/2 owner with her owning the other half now that Seth has died. One of the shocks was that Seth was her grandfather. She was adopted and never knew her real parents. Her adoptive parents loved her but she was very different from them. The other shocker was that unless they came up with more than $50,000 for a balloon payment in 2 months, everything's would be lost including all the employees workplace. He was there to manage the books and see if he could pull out a miracle. They were very attracted to each other but kept their distance for longer than I thought they would.
The secondary cast of characters were just as wonderful Willow and Shayne were married and having sex everywhere but were supposed to be separated. Stella was her grandmother (on her adopted mother's side) and the rest were all important. The animals were also key to the story - especially Dammit Ziggy, an adorable orphaned "Kid" who loved to be held and really took to Jameson..
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a sweet and funny romance! We find ourselves back in Sunrise Cove at Apple Ridge Farms, where our Sunshine heroine Luna has a meet-not-so-cute with our Grumpy Hero, Jameson. Between a crazy goat named DZ, a menagerie of other adorable animals and a host of lovable side characters, our Hero just might learn the importance of found family and find his true love.
loved Luna and Jameson's story. And the back up characters add so much fun to this tale. Both characters had difficult starts but created their own futures which collide at the farm. Couldn't stop reading this book.
The Bright Spot was an enjoyable read where the animals living at the Apple Ridge Farm are very entertaining characters too. Enjoy baby goats, emu's, donkeys, chickens etc all with unique personalities, as well as the main characters Luna and Jameson. Luna and Jameson become unwitting co-owners of the farm when the deceased owner leaves it too them along with a large balloon payment on the mortgage. Luna and Jameson and all the characters (and cute cute animals) learn to live together and make the farm more profitable. Great characters, fun setting, engaging read.
Jill dies not disappoint! Reading this story of tangled lives and the families you make made me feel connected to all of them. When you want to feel good you could read one of her books and it will happen! Recommend.
This was a sweet story overall but I found the secondary characters to be a bit much too take. The heroine was interesting and I wanted to explore more about enabling her employees to help her and not just handle everything herself. Overall I would recommend this book as an easy read.
The Bright Spot is a cute, light-hearted story with quirky characters and loveable rescue animals. My favorite is Sprout, a 40 pound dog Luna rescued so he wouldn’t have to die alone but was now thriving at Apple Ridge Farm. This is a story about friends and family who, with unconditional love, help each other thrive even under adverse situations. Jill Shalvis is one of my many favorite authors who comes through with great stories every time.
THE BRIGHT SPOT is the newest book in the popular ‘Sunrise Cove’ series by Jill Shalvis. Although there are some carry over characters from the earlier books, it is not necessary to have read them to enjoy this story. The Bright Spot puts Luna Wright in a difficult spot after she inherits the Apple Ridge Farm and other things as well. I won’t say what else she discovers, but it does come into play later on in the book. Let’s circle back to Luna Wright, whose main focus is Apple Ridge Farm and the crew. She may not live up to her family's expectations, but she is more than that. She is living her own dreams, which make her happy. That’s what counts.
While Luna is living her dream of running Apple Ridge Farm, she may have more to handle when she co-inherits the farm with Jameson Hayes (one of the investment managers). Jameson may be the type of suitman when he walks into Apple Ridge Farm, but there is more than meets the eye. What can you say? Sometimes, people change when they move to different locations or meet someone who motivates them to change. Although Shalvis has made the move from Contemporary Romance to Women’s Fiction, her style of writing really has changed much.
