So, Julie takes things into her own hands and breaks protocol and hires old friend Alex Drayce to find her and keep her safe. Alex is an ex-police officer and now bodyguard and has experience in these situations before, so he agrees to help.
This is a suspenseful, high-octane thriller that will keep you reading to the small hours of the morning. I cannot believe this is a debut novel from the author. This is an easy read but has a great original plot and not over the top like some that I have read and the characters were also well developed. I am looking forward to seeing how this series develops. 5 stars from me.
Alex Drayce #1
When the witness protection programme fails catastrophically, Sarah Bennett is forced to go on the run, narrowly escaping with her life as she is hunted across London by an organised crime group, she is imminently due to testify against. While the National Crime Agency compromised, private bodyguard Alex Drayce is hired to find Sarah and keep her safe. But with Britain's most powerful on their trail, he'll need to use every weapon in his arsenal to keep them both alive. Because one thing is Sarah knows something these people want to keep hidden, and they'll go to any lengths to keep it a secret.
Alex Drayce is a former police officer who now works as a bodyguard. The characters are well developed, the pace is steady with plenty of twists. The plotline is action packed and easy to follow. We get enough background information to pique our interest but leaves you wanting to know more. This is the first book in a new series, and I can't wait to see what Alex Drayce gets up to next.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Canelo and the author #MaxLuther for my ARC of #NowhereToHide in exchange for an honest review.
When two witness protection teams are compromised and one of the witnesses is murdered, Alex Drayce, a former cop turned bodyguard, is called in to protect Sarah Bennet, the sole survivor.
Alex is a tough guy capable of taking on several bad guys without batting an eyelash. In my case I have to say that I found Sarah tremendously irritating from the very beginning, always complaining, but that's probably my problem more than the author's.
The plot is not particularly complicated but it certainly works, there are some surprising twists, great action scenes and certainly interesting characters. I'm waiting to know more about Alex's wife, which is sure to bring surprises, and the friendship between him and Julie.
As I say, it is a promising start to this series full of action and adrenaline.
