A great little educational book for a young child learning about his or her world. I like it that the Dad is interactive with his daughter Ellie. He uses an avocado seed to teach her some baisc life lesson of "slow but sure" patience as she goes through life watching the avocado grow. Nice autumn-colored pictures grace the pages. An added bonus are the instructions on how to get ones own avocado seed to sprout.

Growing up is hard. For kids, adults seem to have it all going for them they get to do what they want, they don’t have to go to school, and they are big enough for everything around them.

#avocadomagic explores the importance of patience in creating something beautiful.

The process of growing up is uniquely illustrated in this delightful book. Share with your little one who wants to grow up too fast.

Avocado magic was a joy to read with my little one! The illustrations were beautiful and felt vibrant but fluid and artistic, and the story was well-written with a really relevant and important message.

“The magic always moves and always flows; it’s hard to see, and rather slow. So now we simply let you grow. . . .”

My daughter is almost two and we read it holding an avocado and then tasted the fruit afterwards so it was really engaged and interested! She is a little bit on the younger side for whom this particular books audience might be geared towards, but she really enjoyed it, and immediately requested “again, again!” I loved the overall message of the book!

Thank you NetGalley, NorthSouth books, and the author Taltal Levi for the arc of this beautiful book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and not impacted by receiving an arc copy.

I loved this sweet children’s picture book. The illustrations are beautiful! I loved the style of the artwork and all of the warm colors. It felt very cozy.

I loved this heartwarming story, and it had great life lessons in it. Kids are usually in a hurry to grow up, but everyone grows and matures at their own rate. I love the message of being patient and allowing kids to grow up on their own time. I also enjoyed how this message was incorporated with the avocado seed.

Avocados are one of my favorite foods, so that’s initially what drew me to this story, but there is so much depth in this short book. I also liked how it showed kids how to care for a plant and watch it grow. There is even a fun tutorial at the end that teaches you how to grow your own avocado tree! This was a lot of fun and very enjoyable to read. It was like a warm hug to my heart!

Highly recommend! (And now I want some guacamole and chips 😉)

Ellie is sad that after her birthday she isn't instantly bigger. Her dad explains to her that she has magic in her like an avocado seed. Ellie and her dad plant the avocado seed and Ellie nurtures the plant. The magic may be slow but she changes and grows as the avocado plant changes and grows. A cute story about growing up and the magic of plants.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

My daughter and I really loved this book about a little girl called Ellie, whose Dad gives her an avocado seed to grow. He explains to her how they grow slowly, just like she does. This is a touching story, with beautiful illustrations showing Ellie and her avocado, and how they grow up together over the years. There is also a section at the end which shows you how to grow an avocado. Highly recommended!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This is a cute story that starts off about just an avocado, but let's everyone learn a lot more. Patience and growth are the themes in this story, and along with the great illustrations, it makes an impact on readers with that sweet reminder.

Avocado is a cute book that shares a message about patience and growth. A little girl is ready to grow taller and is disappointed that on her birthday she's not noticeably older. Her father explains to her that growth takes time and just like an avocado seed she will grow. So she takes care of that avocado seed and watches the plant grow and grow over the years until it becomes a big avocado tree that she's sharing with her own daughter.

Note: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a very sweet, intergenerational tale that teaches the value of family, patience, and nurturing. While there were, in my opinion, some missed opportunities to teach better punctuation or sentence structure, the message of the story is clear. Also, the illustrations are so beautiful! Vibrant and warm and definitely inviting to young eyes.

I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a really cute little story for any child learning that sometimes growth takes time. Things can't be rushed just because you want a certain outcome at a certain time, i.e. growing an avocado from a pit. The illustrations were very nice to look at and it was a quick read for my 7 year old niece to pay attention to for the duration.

This really has the makings to be a sweet book. The illustrations and way the story is written seems to target ages 4-10ish I’d say, except for one part…

As we follow Ellie in learning a kind lesson from her father about being patient and learning that magnificent things can grow from the smallest of seeds, my heart warms.

My 5 and 7 year old however kept asking why Ellie had to leave her family (she grew up and moved out but this feels rushed in my opinion and unnecessary). Yes I get it could be a great way to share with kids that eventually they will have their own freedom and families, but at this particular age it was a little more distressing for my two. Minus that and I think it would be a beautiful read through and through.

Bonus little illustration of how to grow an avocado at the end was awesome! The kids loved it.

I received a free copy of, Avocado Magic, by Taltal Levi, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Ellie is not happy that she has not grown, the day after her birthday, being a whole year older, and the same size is shocking to Ellie. This is a book about patience, which is still hard to deal with whether your a child or an adult. A great story with a good message, and a science experiment too.

“When we stretch our head toward the sky and leaves begin to climb up high,
when we change and grow
from fall to spring,
the magic shows itself, even in the smallest things.”

Ellie is frustrated. She just hd her birthday but her feet Still can’t touch the ground when she sits in her chair >:( Her dad kindly tells her, “Ellie, you are like an avocado seed: small but full of magic.”
Together, they urge a little seed to sprout and grow and spread its leaves.
I loved this book, it reminds me of that book Love You Forever by Robert M: a classic.

Thank you so much to NorthSouth Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Ellie has her birthday and expects to have grown taller overnight, but is disappointed she hasn’t. Her dad shares a magic secret with her and together they plant an avocado seed so she could watch it grow.

This was really sweet a great book about slowing down how fast time moves and how quick children grow up, her dad steps in and gives her the greatest gift. Sharing with her that magic and growth takes time to grow and to develop and to be complete. The story was told in a really simple and sweet way and I loved that the dad kept repeating himself to remind her. I also really loved that the beautiful tree magic cycled it way round again as she continued the tradition on.

This was a sweet book, perfect to read with your little ones that want to be bigger and older, to help slow them down a bit and encourage them to still be full of magic and stay young. The illustrations were really cute and worked wonderfully with the story, I enjoyed seeing the tree and Ellie grow together.
