Lady Charlotte Always Gets Her Man was definitely a historical romance that I thought I would enjoy, but I just couldn’t get into the story and the main couple was just okay…I wasn't the biggest fan of this book, but I will definitely read other books from this author.

This was my first work by this author. I found the story to be cute and entertaining with a decent amount of mystery. I’ll probably try more by Marsh in the future.

The premise and settings are interesting with the coffee shop crowd and the murderous fiancé. The writing is funny and smart and the characters pop off the page. Just enough historical and scientific detail (hero being a scientist/surgeon) to be interesting but not intrusive. Love it!!

This really wasn’t grabbing me. I liked the premise but could tell there was going to be a lotttt of filler with the plot setup. Also both of the MCs were super bland and the author was satisfied with telling about them instead of showing who they were. I needed less filler and more character development.

This definitely hit the mark. This book was fun, entertaining and engrossing.
Something I was battling with while reading was that it felt modern at times and then outdated another. The metaphorical time travel was a bit jarring.

I did like a the mystery-aspect! The characters, both & side, were an absolute delight to read about! Can't wait to read more from Marsh!

I love that Lady Charlotte Always Gets Her Man combines a little bit of everything! Part brother's best friend romance and part mystery, Lady Charlotte is a character to be reckoned with! The characters were definitely the strength in this historical romance and I hope we get more books focused on other characters in this world!

This was a really fun cute read. The characters are determined to get out of their respective predicaments and you can’t help but root for them. The story wasn’t completely predictable which was nice but I could kind of tell where everything was going to go. The main villain is well written and fun to hate.

This is the first book that I have read from this author. It is a delight, full of romance, intrigue, danger, humor, lively banter, and mostly likable characters (except for the villain and this henchman, the hero's entire family and the heroine's parents). Lady Charlotte parents are horrible, but at least she has her beloved twin brother, Alexander, Marques of Heathford. Alexander's best friend is Mathew Talbot, the third son of the Duke of Hansberry. Mathew is very different from his older brothers, who tormented him as a child. Charlotte learns that her parents have betrothed her to Mathew's older brother, who aside being a bully has already buried 2 wives, but her parent's don't care. She takes her future into her own hands and makes plans so she will not be at the mercy of her parents or Viscount Hawley. Mathew had been in love with Charlotte since she was a child and is horrified to learn when he comes back to London from his latest trip to the Colonies, that she is betrothed to his monster of a brother. He joins with Alexander to prove that Hawley murdered his first wives. Charlotte, Alexander and Mathew are at crosshairs until they realize they have the same goal, and enlist several friends, including Charlotte and Alexander's cousins to save her from her upcoming marriage.

I thought that the romance between Pan, a parrot and Banshee, a capuchin, a bit much. And one mystery was not revealed- how Charlotte explained her arm in a sling to her mother.

I don't know guys, I'm not sure if it's me, the writing, the plot, or the characters, but for some reason I wasn't able to care about anyone or anything in this story. I gave it 50 pages to see if something would intrigue me enough to warrant me finishing, but unfortunately this one just isn't for me.

"Swounds" indeed! Marsh created my perfect man! Dr. Matthew Talbot is part intellectual, part superhero and all heart. I had to see him get this HEA.

In this closed-door, sweet historical romance, you're never going to get the bedroom scene that Marsh teases you with the entire book. That's my only complaint. I wish this was open-door, spicy. The chemistry between the main couple was so good.

Lady Charlotte Lovett is tired of being a pawn in society just because she's a woman and is ready to take her future into her own hands after her parents engage her to a suspected murderer, the evil Duke Hawley. Luckily, his younger brother, the aforementioned swoony Dr. Matthew Talbot, has come back to town to take Hawley down once and for all. Charlotte has a lot of support as she works to claims her independence and expose Hawley's crimes. She teams up with her two tradeswomen cousins, a coffee shop full of loveable and nefarious characters, the best parrot and monkey couple ever, her loving twin brother and childhood crush, Matt.

This book is clearly the set up to a series and so there is a lot of contextualizing and character development/backstory going on for secondary characters as well as plot set up for the rest of the series. If you like books where a bunch of outcasts team up to right society's wrongs and fall in love with each other in the process, then this is the book for you!

However, because it was trying to hit all of these marks (plus some) it felt like all of the plot lines weren’t as fleshed out as they could have been. But that didn’t stop me from loving watching Charlotte and Matthew work together and get to know each other as they found clues and made chase!

I listened to most of this and am absolutely head over heels for this book! I'm excited it will be a series because I would be sad if it were a stand-alone. And I'm super happy I decided to pause the faulty Netgalley copy and wait for the library hold because some of the best parts happened at the end of the chapters!

Violet Marsh has written an entertaining new world of the ton with characters that, if I had to live back then, these are who I would want as my friends.

And the audio version is top-notch! I'm going to use a Libro.FM credit for this one to keep in my collection because it brought me so much joy, and I know I'll want to listen to it repeatedly! The story is funny, mysterious, and romantic. Katy Sobey is now on my automatic listen list for narrators, bringing it to life. Sobey did an excellent job—it was so immersive and fun!

This is one of the most over-the-top historical romances I've read, but that's what makes it so fun. That's why I'll recommend it and want to keep reading the series!

This was such a fun book! I really enjoyed reading about Charlotte’s escapades and looking forward to what she was going to do next. It was definitely a bit cheesy and the writing style could be more refined, but it was a good choice to read while simultaneously reading about heavier topics.

A fresh and fun historical romance! Lady Charlotte is an engaging heroine and I enjoyed the combined plot of solving a scandalous mystery on top of her road to a HEA.

Lady Charlotte longs for Independence and a life away from society's strict rules, especially from her mother's constant criticism. Her parents are arranging her marriage to a viscount who has already lost two wives under suspicious circumstances. In a panic, Charlotte has only one option, find evidence the viscount murdered his wives. Who better to help her is his youngest brother, Matthew. Matthew has his own agenda to find proof of his brother's wrong doings. He also has a secret life that makes Charlotte suspicious of his motives. Always attracted to each other, Matthew hesitates to express his feelings. Not so Charlotte, but nothing can come from their attraction until his brother is exposed. Not your usual Society young lady and the surprising youngest brother of a viscount who's traveled the world, is a doctor and a naturalist. Never a dull moment with a clever parrot and a loveable monkey. Kissing only.

I didn't really like the writing style at first. It was a little better for me later on in the book, but still just didn't work for me the best. Don't get me wrong, I am usually down for a kinda cheesy, over the top story, but there is a limit to the amount of cheese I can accept and this book surpassed that quite a bit (especially the whole debacle with the parrot and the monkey, no no not for me). This does seem to be the author's first official foray into a more historical romance type genre so I am trying not to be very harsh, but it just didn't work for me. There is a mystery of sorts surrounding the intended for Charlotte, who apparently a majority of the ton think might have murdered his two previous wives yet he is still at all the parties and able to be betrothed to Charlotte?? But the mystery is kind of vague and there are more elements added in that I think were meant to throw off the scent, but really just read as confusing to me. My main issue with the mystery portion is that Charlotte's betrothed is very mustache twirly and just never developed enough of a scare factor for me to even be worried about Charlotte. My other main issue is just the lack of any real development in the relationship between Charlotte and Matthew. We mostly just get told in third person limited that Charlotte thinks Matthew is very cute and interesting and that Matthew has always had a thing for Charlotte. I never actually felt the tension between them, but I was told it was there... and palpable since Charlotte's brother kept telling them he could tell and to get a room. I think maybe with some more edits and practice, this author could find a nice balance between telling and showing and humor and excessive cheese. I did have an enjoyable time reading the book as it does flow rather quickly and the ridiculousness had me turning the pages, hence the 2.5 stars rounded to 3.
