I love the setting of beautiful Greece.
I also really like the timeline of the early 1970s.
The book is tinged with a lot of sadness. Alexandra has to deal with immeasurable loss and the disregard by her father.
The two different time line approach worked well for the story.
My heart ache when Alexandra had decisions forced upon her, but the lost love angle resurfaced. I still felt like they had been robbed of so many years. Bodily harm should have befallen her father.
I am enjoying this series.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
This is a dual timeline story.
Two people who are musicians are in love and everything is going well, but then something happens that changes everything.
The story had so many twists, secrets and sad moments.
I loved the setting and the story kept you hooked.
I highly recommend this book.
This book mastered the back and forth viewpoints perfectly- the story was so well paced and kept me intrigued the whole time. The setting (both London and Greece) made me love this book even more! I have loved Soraya Lane’s historical fiction books but I’m happy to say her writing of modern times is just as impressive. There were multiple different love stories in the book and truthfully I’m not sure which one was my favorite, I loved them both. Also important to note the book can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone novel, I had not read either of the first two books in the series but will absolutely be going back to read them now.
Thank you Net Galley for the advanced copy!
A story about strength of family ties and never giving up on true love.
The Royal Daughter is a heartbreaking story about two young musicians falling in love. Things seem to going well until something occurs to change everyone’s plans.
So many family secrets bring heartbreaking moments.
The setting of Greece makes you want to travel there as soon as possible.
Another great installment in The Lost Daughters series.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion.
I have read the other books in the Hope's House series as I think of it and this one is another brilliant addition to the series.
I really couldn't see why its titled 'The Royal Daughter' as the neither of the main characters are not Royal - the only attachment is that Alexandra's father was an aide to the Greek Royal family.
That brings me to another inconsistency in my view - who was King Theodore? I thought King Constantine was the last deposed King of Greece?
Having said that this is a well written dual timeline story of enduring love and heartbreak.
For those that have read the other books then its no spoiler to say that Hope takes in girls/women who are having a child out of wedlock.
It seems that Hope kept a memento for some of those children (though it isn't explained why it isn't all) and these are returned to their original families after Hope died.
This is a lovely book that keeps you enthralled from page to page - I can't wait for the next instalment
Thank you
This is book 3 in a proposed series of 8 books:
#1 Italy - The Italian Daughter (1946 post-WW2)
#2 Cuba - The Cuban Daughter (1950s pre-revolution)
#3 Greece - The Royal Daughter (1967 coup/depose last King)
All the books in this series are set in different countries at different times in history and are all dual timeline stories that focus “on a group of women who are called to a lawyer’s office in London. They are told that their grandmothers were born at Hope House, a home for unmarried mothers and are each given a letter and a box which contains clues about their past - a past none of them even knew they were searching for.”
Things I loved:
✔️the author makes sure we fall in love with her characters AND the country
✔️timelines/characters connected through a love of music
✔️becoming aware of family secrets; realizing the heartbreak yet seeing the love and acceptance…and hope
✔️focus on restoration
✔️beautiful balance of loss and hope/joy
✔️the mystery and following the clues
This talented author takes three main characters, all with individual story arcs, blends in historical elements, crafts a spectacular story, and leaves you wanting more! Lane shows readers the heartbreak of the past, weaves it with hope, travel, and the joy of unexpected love, and reminds us of the pressures of royalty, arranged marriage, loss, and adoption. You’ll immediately connect to her main characters and become swept away by the location. Watching for timeline clues will add to your enjoyment!
I was gifted this copy by Bookouture and was under no obligation to provide a review.
Soraya Lane takes us back to Hope House and the mysterious little boxes that link the past and the present in the third installment of The Lost Girls series.
In The Royal Daughter, we travel back and forth from Greece to London and back again as Ella tries to determine the meaning of the mysterious objects left behind in a tiny little box found at a soon to be demolished Hopes House. The objects mean very little to her but somehow they are tied to her grandmother and she’s determined to get to the bottom of things. Her search for answers reunites her with the boy she had a crush on in school and reignites her passion for art.
Alexandra’s life was turned upside down when her mother died in a tragic accident. She was uprooted from her home in Greece and moved to London to begin a different life in the home of her mother’s family. Just as she began to find her way in life, her absentee father returns to take her home to marry her off to restore his name. But she had found a passion and a love and harbored a secret that led her to Hopes House and eventually forced her to abandon everything.
How are these ladies connected…not necessarily in a way you might think but love, passion and music both define them and bring them together. You’ll fall in love with this story, especially with picturesque Greece as the backdrop! I cannot wait for the next installment!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Bookouture and Soraya Lane for an early copy of this book! It was well worth the wait!!
Absolutely lovely book from Soraya Lane. I can’t wait for the next one in the series to see where in the world Soraya takes us to.
This is a heartbreaking read.
Two young musicians fall in love and all seems to be going so well until an unplanned pregnancy and the reappearance of Alexandera’s father changes the course of three people’s lives.
There is a lot to absorb in this read. Royalty, parental relationships, arranged marriage, adoption, and loss.
Years later, a box is given to a young women. This begins a search for answers. Both for the past and present.
The book is well written and the characters feel alive as you read their narratives.
The Royal Daughter is Soraya Lane's third book in her Lost Daughters series and I can honestly say that I loved this one just as much as the first two books in this series! The book begins with the same "box of clues" for an adoptee or her family from Hope's House, a defunct home for unwed mothers, and like the other two books, is a dual timeline novel with likeable characters and a love story - or multiple love stories in this case. The first timeline begins in Greece in 1967 when Alexandra Konstantinidis's mother is killed in a riding accident. Alex and her father must flee Greece when the Greek king (with whom the family is good friends) is deposed and he dumps her with her maternal aunt in London, never bothering to even check on her for many years. The second timeline takes place in the present day with Ella receiving a box labeled with what she believes is her grandmother's name from Hope's House before the building was to be razed and against her mother's wishes, she impulsively decides to try to follow the clues and find out more information about her family history. No spoilers, but the story unfolds beautifully in both timelines and has the happy ending that I love so much. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Lovely read ! Big fan of Soraya Lane and her 'Lot Daughters' series; so was super excited to get a ARC of this one! Enjoyed the multi story line of past and present, and a bit of history tied into it. The description of the greek islands makes you want to book a trip, and the romance with a surprise is nice. Looking forward to other books in the series!
What an emotional rollercoaster. So sad three times over, but joyous too, with a twist or two. The dual timeline has you paying attention to every detail of this unfolding drama. The creative characters dedication to their craft was inspiring, & those who recaptured their passion were fulfilled. There’s so many layers, even more depth & curves than the previous two books (which were great). The last few chapters were so good. Restoration for the years & the precious things that were stolen.
This series is thrilling. Looking forward to Mia’s story. Brilliant Soraya!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley & Bookouture. I am writing a voluntary honest review.
Having to flee the only home you have known as a child can be traumatic enough. Add in to that having lost your mother not long ago. That is what Alexandra is going through, as well as a father that really seems to have no interest in her. Alexandra has fled Greece to live in London.
Ella is given a box with clues about her grandmother, who was adopted vas a baby. She needs to decide whether to pursue looking or let it go. As well as figuring out how to live life for herself.
An enchanting, emotional, heartbreaking read that brought tears to my eyes. A page turner with so many family secrets.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.
“The Royal Daughter” is the third book in the “The Lost Daughters” series by Soraya Lane. This book can be read as a stand-alone. I liked this book as it had a bit of a twist I wasn’t expecting that was explained rather nicely. I’m glad that the characters had their happy ending.
1970𝘴 : Alexandra has fled her home country of Greece and has learnt to live in London, but when her heart is captivated by a Cellist and their love may just span decades despite the storms brewing to set them apart.
𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘺 : Ella no longer find any joy in her job. Her heart still hurts but also aches to hold a paintbrush. With a chance encounter and a little push from the past, Ella is encouraged to let go of things and learn to live for herself.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘋𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳 is an emotional and enchanting read, spanning decades apart with the common thread of love still lingering.
I didn't think this book would be as emotional as it was. But it is a well executed plot with a well established storyline and I can hardly wait for the next few books which were given a few minor spoilers in the epilogue.

Book 3 in this amazing series. I read this in an evening, perfect light entertainment which left me wanting more……. Such a delightful read, which I absolutely loved!
I don’t want this series to end! I love each one of these stories, and can’t wait to read the next one! Alexandra’s story just made my heart ache! Loved the ending!!!
