A captivating fusion of a domestic thriller and a psychological enigma, this book, while occasionally presenting a slightly implausible ending and relying on some coincidences for explanation, maintains an engaging pace.

It delivers an emotionally charged narrative that tugs at the heartstrings, evoking a mix of excitement and heartache throughout the family's journey.

I felt deeply moved by the plight of the young girl, particularly during the poignant final segments where her perspective takes center stage, leaving me teary-eyed.

Having encountered this author for the first time, I'm eager to explore more of her literary repertoire in the days to come!

I was sure this would be a 4-5 star read for me. It started out quite strong and then it completely went off the rails. The MC was annoying beyond words. In case you don't already know, she's a good mother. No, scratch that, she's a great mother. And the reason we know this is because she feels the need to tell us over and over and over again. The adoption process moved at the speed of light, and maybe it works like that for rich politicians, but it felt very forced and rushed. The twists and turns became very convoluted and somewhat predictable. And the secrets... my goodness! I don't believe I'll remember much about this one in a week or two, to be honest.

This is a very easy book to follow. There are a lot of grammatical errors though and should get proofread before the official release. The plot twists were so good. I really enjoyed the mother but I will say there were many flaws in her character. I felt like the husband kept talking to her very crazy and I think that should have been talked about. I felt like she kept forgiving him for that even though when she said something he didn't like it was like the end of the world. This book had me feeling so many different feelings and I even almost cried during the last few chapters. I loved going back and forth between the present time and the past. I do wish some parts were explained more. I wish the adopted kid being a troublemaker cliche was a little different in this book. I really enjoyed this book. I read it really fast and enjoyed it. Thank you so much, NetGalley, Joffe Books, and Anya Mora for this Arc.

The writing here was simple and easy to fly through, but this book really could have used a proofreader. There were grammatical errors throughout and missing or wrong words in sentences that caused them to make no sense. Also, there is mention of it being December at least twice, although Betsy's death only happened a week earlier on Halloween.

Despite those issues though, I did enjoy the overall story here. Some parts were predictable, but there were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing that I didn't have things completely figured out. Overall, recommend if you're looking for a fast-paced and twisty thriller.

To be fair I think I should say that this book was previously released under the title Tuesday's Child and as I quickly discovered I had already read it. But I decided to reread it anyway and I was so glad I did. I remembered the basic plot but I had forgotten just how many plot twists and shocks there were. The narrative pulls you in from the offset and, having captured your attention, keeps you rapt until the very last line.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my free, voluntary and honest review. This book was simply amazing and I was so enthralled I read it in in one day/sitting, which is why I am here at 1:42 in the morning writing this review. I could not put it down. It is light in the sappy and heavy with suspense and gut wrenching emotion. Absolute pleasure reading this book!

I think this book gave me mommy issues. I wasn’t a fan at all. Reminded me of the perfect child. The mom gave me vibes of having a huge savior complex.

I really loved reading this book, it had me from the first page. I enjoyed the way it flipped back and forth in time - it seemed like the events in the past and present were always relevant to each other, and I felt that it really drove the story forward. It was engaging to read and even when I wasn't able to get lots of reading time in, I was motivated to get back to the story. I was thinking about the characters in my day to day life, even the unlikeable ones. I thought I had the twist pegged a few times, and I was completely wrong, right up until the moment the answer was sitting on the page. I think one of the best compliments a reader can give a book is recommending it when someone asks for a book recommendation, and I recommended it to my mom when I was still only 80% through. The ending didn't change my mind, it's a solid book and it's one to read specifically during this Halloween season.

Emery's daughter has passed away. She's about to be laid to rest at the tender age of eleven. Mere days before her funeral, the cops shock with a shattering revelation: her death wasn't an accident. She was murdered. And they have a suspect. Her adopted brother.

This book was filled with piercing emotion, shocking twists, and believable red herrings. I was kept guessing and on the edge of my seat to the very end. Excellent domestic thriller.

An immensely readable book that you’re likely to struggle to put down! Emery seems have the perfect life and family until her daughter is killed and her adopted son is the main suspect. As she desperately tries to prove his innocence, her life unravels more and more.

Although the ending of this book became a bit unbelievable in places, it’s still a good easy read for fans of domestic crime fiction.

The perfect family by Anya Mora.
My daughter is dead and my son is the prime suspect.
Really good read. Twisty and gripping and tense. I certainly didn't see that coming. I would never have guessed it. I loved Emery. But I didn’t trust Mark. Holden grew on me so did Cooper. 5*.
