Thank you Netgalley and Entangled for this opportunity to read Some Kind of Blunderful.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
In the beginning I loved the comedy but then the story fell flat. Frankly, i was bored and even the spice didn't help. This was not the story for me.
This is my second book by Livy Hart, and I’m officially a fan!
Short Synopsis:
Mia takes a chance on a random online match, Alex. But when the date ends in disaster she thinks she’ll never see him again. But surprise. He’s best friends with her best friends boyfriend. And oh, yeah, he’s her dad’s new young boss.
My Thoughts:
Oh my goodness, I could not put this book down. It’s witty, smart and sexy. I love Mia, Alex, Josie, Ezra and Mia’s family so much.
Alex and Mia’s chemistry just sizzles off the pages. This was steamier than I generally prefer in books, but it didn’t take away from the story, and I adored it so much.
Read if You Like:
🍷 Forbidden romance
🍷 Dual POV
🍷 Adorable puppies
🍷 GREAT side characters
🍷Love story that feels so real
In this book, we follow Mia and Alex. Mia, who was recently left at the altar and has gone through so much trying to start dating again. Alex, who is new to Avondale and recently came to a company as the fixer. Alex and Mia matched on a dating app and set up a date, but when Alex was 30 minutes late, Mia decided all hope was lost and called her best friend Josie to give her all the details, until Alex taps her on the shoulder. The date has already started off on a bad foot and they each had a sour taste in their mouth for the other. They decided they just weren’t meant to be, until they ended up on a blind double date together because Josie is dating Ezra, Alex’s best friend, and they later realize, Alex is Mia’s dads work enemy. They are always trying to avoid each other, but fate keeps pulling them back together again and again. Seeing them go from hating each other, to falling in love was one of the most relaxed and natural things i’ve ever read in a romance novel. The way they slowly started to fit into each others lives was so nice to see. I loved the banter between them, seeing their relationship evolve into so much more and seeing the struggles they faced within their relationship (in regards to her father). The book came full circle at the end, and i’ve truly never been so upset to finish a book like I was when I finished this one. I wanted to be in the story rather than just reading it.
Livy Hart does it again!! I absolutely loved this book. 🥰 I stayed up until 2am reading this. I was so hooked (once life chilled a little for me to read 🥹) Possible spoilers below.
Love how Livy describes Alex’s smile:
“His answering smile is electric. It’s cocky wrapped up in a cockier box and tied with the cockiest bow.” 🤣
I really related to the main character Mia feelings with her dad. Due to losing my mom myself I can relate to her feeling she has towards her dad and their relationship.
Josie (side character) extremely well written. I love her support and her personality. Honestly we all need a friend like Josie.
I could definitely reread this book. The build up of romance was perfect and the spice 🥵.
I stumbled upon Livy’s books and I’m honestly so glad I did. Her writing style and the way she tells the story is perfect.
This book is another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me! Would highly recommend this book.
This was so much fun, and I enjoyed it so much. Reviewed on IG and goodreads as such, 4.5 stars and 5 stars. I read it basically all in one go.
“Some Kind of Blunderful”
By: Liv Hart
Synopsis:
Mia Madden is an elementary school teacher with a broken-hearted past. She has a very close connection with her father. She meets a man named Alex on an online dating app, but the date doesn’t go well. She and Alex don’t think they will meet again but fate has other plans. The kicker here is that Alex is Mia’s father’s boss. Mia’s father doesn’t like Alex because he was up for the same job. Fate will continue to pull these two together as they fight their chemistry. Can Mia stay loyal to her dad and fight her feelings for Alex? Or will she give in to fate? Will Alex stick to his plan to keep things professional by not giving in to his attraction to Mia? Or will he let their chemistry run wild?
My thoughts:
I loved Mia and Alex’s steamy chemistry and their constant back-and-forth banter. Alex is a confident misunderstood guy. He doesn’t back down from who he is and won’t allow anyone to tell him he’s not doing his job right. A hardworking man he is indeed. He will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for him. Mia is a sweet, determined, loyal to a fault woman. Trust me, when I say that Alex and Mia’s connection will make you feel giddy and excited as if you were them. This book is the perfect amount of romance and spice to add to your TBR if you are looking for a steamy rom-com with a forced proximity trope.
Livy Hart just secured herself as an auto read author for me! Some Kind of Blunderful is the perfect romcom loaded with witty banter & spicy fun. I found myself picking up this book every chance I had because I wanted more of Alex & Mia.
📖simple summary: They meet on a dating app & have a forgettable 1st date. He turns out to be her dads work nemesis. They also get set up on a blind double date with their best friends (who are dating). Spoiler alert: they can’t stay away from each other.
1st date gone wrong • they keep finding each other • dual POV • opposites attract • grand gestures • best friends are dating • hilarious banter
Favorite parts:
🍻the entire booze cruise
🍻the convo between Josie & Alex at the party
3,5 ⭐
This book was the epitome of cute and I have to be honest: it's not really my type of book.
With this being said, I truly enjoyed the characters, which were the real deal of this book. I felt like I could relate to Mia, who was an intriguing character. I especially loved her backstory and how she was able to try and overcome a past bad experience. On the other hand, Alex was one of those people you could instantly fall in love with. Their start was not the greatest, but I overall liked the dynamics and their relationship.
I can say I was delighted when Mia's dad came along and seeing their interactions was everything.
What I really enjoyed the most is definitely the writing style, compelling and flowing, I was able to read this book in almost one go.
Unfortunately, from a totally subjective perspective, I felt like I was missing some action. Everything was a bit fast and I wish there were more banter between the main characters.
This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! I absolutely loved it! The wit and banter was on point with all the characters in the book, and that’s really saying something. This was such a cute, entertaining read. 5 stars, one of my favorite reads this year, and will definitely recommend to others!
Love love love this book. This is my second book from Livy Hart and she’s quickly becoming an automatic read for me.
I really like the typical grumpy/sunshine mix tied into the world of online dating complete with awkward dates and all.
Mia and Alex had great chemistry together and the spice was 🔥🔥
I would highly recommend this book.
The concept of dating as an adult has always fascinated me, so it was fun to read Livy Hart’s t take on it. This was a perfect mashup of online dating, setups, family drama, workplace drama, and more. While I could argue that a lot of the workplace drama could have been handled with some honest conversation, it would have taken a lot of the tension out of the story. Reading how Alex and Mia grew together from a busted blind date to an epic kiss cam moment was a fun ride.
Thanks to NetGalley from the digital ARC.
Some Kind of Blunderfull starts a little slow, but once you're in, it's impossible to put down. I love the way Livy Hart gives us both main characters' insights as narrators throughout the book as it makes you care about them all the more. All the characters are well rounded and feel so real. I laughed so many times throughout this book, which I haven't done in a while. This book also had my heart racing in the best ways and had me feeling all the feels when the main characters would let us in on secrets from their past. I really didn't want the fun to end.
I loved this book! Some Kind of Blunderful is Livy Hart's best yet, in my opinion! It was very well fleshed out from start to finish, had great characters and relationships, a lot of laughs, and a lot of heart!
I really loved our MCs, Mia and Alex. Despite what you see when they first meet, they had great chemistry and it was fun waiting for them to fall. It was refreshing to see our hero, Alex, have the backstory he did; when we first meet him in the beginning, I was totally thinking that I was going to hate him, but the more we got to know him, it was absolutely the complete opposite. The dual POV really helped with that as well. Mia was fun and really relatable, not overly quirked out, and had just the right amount of humor to her.
The plot was really fun, with a sprinkling of more serious themes thrown in as well to keep things grounded. It struck a good balance. I loved all the hijinks that ensued through the story- it was one thing after another. What I think worked really well was despite the pitfalls and blunders, Mia and Alex still tried to be together and work through things, which I really liked. It was also unexpectedly had a little more spice compared to Hart's previous titles, which I really liked a lot. It wasn't overdone, and was put in at the perfect times- I was not left wanting!
Overall, this was a fabulous, funny read and I think it should be on everyone's TBR for a fun fall weekend pick me up.

Thank you to Entangled Published and NetGalley for my complimentary eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Some Kind of Blunderful was a fast hilarious read.
My favorite part was when Mia and Alex were on the Kiss Cam at the game.
“Forgive me for putting my face where you wanted your knuckles.”
I enjoyed all the interactions between Mia and Alex, they got funnier and funnier with each unplanned “date”. Once the dog was introduced I was a goner.
I connected with my this story so many levels
Preschool Teacher (me)
Alex (same age and name as my son)
3 sisters (same)
Death of parent (Dad)
Oh my god that ending ❤️ What a perfect full circle moment. I may have shed a few tears
This story was the cutest! Still feeling all warm and fuzzy over it, it was just what I needed.
The banter and disaster dates/meet cutes at the beginning were LOL cute, then as the story progressed and we got to know the characters better and see them interact it all turned into a swoonfest. The spice lvl...omg I did not expect all that! Hot tub scene guys. All I'm gonna say.😮💨🥵💨 No, actually there was also the boat scene before that and the childhood bedroom scene. The secrecy and forbidden aspect made for such delicious tension! These two were explosive.
Love all the secondary characters too - I need an Ezra and Josie in my life.
Fun, charming, with real life moments and situations thrown in to make it more relatable and make you question your own happiness or what ifs, it was all a great romcom package. Cute puppies moments, family awkward dinners, running into each other at the most inoportune moments, friends trying to meddle, real life crisis, sneaking around... It was all fun and natural. I wish I could see this movie - tho it pretty much developed in the back of my mind as such. Mia and Alex (and the puppy!!) became so real and dear, it was a joy to follow them around. Bonus points for dual POV and their quirky hilarious thoughts. #boyobsessed anyone?
There is some inspiration fron The Office and I liked how Livy incorporated that and mundane situations, struggles and shenanigans into the story (like prepping for a baby shower, running a flat tire and having a breakdown because adulting it hard, being scared of future in laws, running into undesirable people at restaurants, work functions and hang outs etc. It seems like everything was well thought out).
Then Mia and Alex. *sigh* So sweet and hilarious and hot together! They kept running into each other like magnets. At first they seemed like they had nothing in common and all they did was make a mess of things, but in the end they were inevitable.
The ending was sweet, maybe a bit rushed (or I just needed to spend more time with them all), had a bit of miscommunication/3rd act breakup thing, but it all wrapped up nicely.
Thank you Entangled team for the ARC!

Quotes:
For the life of me, I don’t understand why I’m preoccupied with her. It’s like having sex with her opened up a portal in my chest, and at random, when I’m brushing my teeth or leading a meeting, I’ll wonder where she is, what she’s up to, if she’s okay. (...)
...something either broke inside of me or found redemption. I don’t know which one, but I would’ve handed her my soul on a platter if she’d asked for it.
I don’t know how I got in this, but I’m awash in rightness just being in her orbit, so it seems pointless to stand here and deny it to her best friend.
“Perfect isn’t real, but this is. And every day with you gets better and better.”
This was a really fun and light read! Mia is a pre-k teacher who was jilted on her wedding day a year ago. She had a horrible first date and deletes her dating app. She's super close with her widower father, who is bummer about losing a potential promotion to a new up and coming employee. To make matters worse, this new boss is Alex, Mia's awful date. And also, the best friend of her best friend's boyfriend.
Of course they are both immediately hot for each other, but also know that getting together would be a disaster. But with booze cruises and company volunteer days and baseball games, their worlds keep colliding.
I enjoyed the cozy (and steamy!) world of Alex and Mia. Thank you Entangled Embrace and NetGalley for the ARC for my honest review.
Thanks @netgalley @entangled_publishing and @livyhartromance for the early look at Some Kind of Blunderful, out on 9/25/23.
The perfect rom com doesn’t ex—-
Actually, it does. This book hit all my favorite parts about rom coms.
ALL the banter? Check.
Two swoony MCs who can’t help falling in love? Check.
Steamy scenes in an unexpected location? Check. (Please DM me after reading the hot tub scene!)
Surprisingly emotional takes on family and the importance of finding your people? Check.
Teacher Mia has a terrible first impression of businessman Alex. Sure, he’s super hot, but he’s late for their date and seems totally disinterested in her. Small problem that their BFFs are dating and he’s her dad’s new boss. They should avoid each other, but keep tumbling into each other’s paths until they can’t deny that they are two wrongs that make a right.
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tropes: opposites attract, dog adoption, proposal in public location

I adored Mia and Alex so much. This was a so much fun. It was the perfect light hearted romance. The evolution of their story was perfectly paced. The spice was just right. I would love to see a book about Josie and Ezra. Or maybe one for Max. As you can tell, all of the characters are memorable.
If you need some sweetness in your life. If you need a smile. If you need to feel good. You need this book!
This was solidly an "It's OK" for me. It was well written and easy to read. The story itself was forgettable. Chapter 1 felt awkward and contrived, but I saw so many four- and five-star reviews for this book. I just said to myself, I have to keep going, look how many loved it. It unfortunately didn't get better for me, and it remained awkward and contrived throughout. The moral is, if you like chapter 1, keep going, because you'll probably like the rest of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled for the ARC.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. This book was so much fun to read. If you're looking for an opposites attract, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, romance, this is for you. Mia and Alex's chemistry is undeniable. The way that they kept being pushed into the same environment consistently had me hooked. I was rooting for these two the whole way through. The banter and tension had me kicking my feet giggling. Very well written.
