I loved this book! The writing was great and the characters were wonderful! The author has great imagination and I love a good romance novel!

Adorable contemporary romance. Mia and Alex are polar opposites, so it's no surprise that their blind date is a total failure. Even more surprising is their second blind date. Then they discover that Alex is Mia's father's new boss, and their working relationship is rocky to say the least. As they continue to be thrown together, they realize that other person may not be so bad after all. If they can make it past all the obstacles, they may just find their happily ever after.

This rom-com was such a fun read. Fate keeps throwing Mia and Alex together. Despite the rocky start, it's clear that they could have a future together if they were open to it. Keeping a relationship a secret always leads to some comedic situations, and that definitely happens here. Once they get going, the romance is quite spicy. Their chemistry is great. I enjoyed getting both Mia and Alex's perspectives in alternating chapters. It was easy to invest in their romance. Would recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Loved this one! Where to start because I was either smiling and or laughing through most of it! I think this author wrote a great romance full of meaningful awkward moments and fun dialogues. The intimacy was endearing and swoon worthy. I loved watching these two figure things out and they had a special chemistry. The writing made me feel like I was right there and the side characters (friendships and families) were a special bonus to this story. This author is a new favorite of mine and I can’t wait for the next book.

Have you ever been on date & like a bad Ground Hog's day remix you just keep meeting up with that said terrible man?

Well...Mia, our main character, ends up in this situation but make it ten times on the Richter scale of awful. She ends up on a repeat disaster date with her father's nemesis...and boss.

"Some Kind of Blunderful" was my first Livy Hart. I thought it was a sweet & easy enemies-to-lovers romance to help immerse myself in the quirky happiness that is falling in deep with someone. I really appreciated the "oops, we've run into each other again" type scenario that Mia and Alex find themselves in. Starting with the extremely awkward food truck fiasco, the escape-room double date, and then the NBA kiss-cam cringe fest that essentially ignites a swoony spark...and a fog ya truck windows make-out session. *fans face* It was all rom-com gold.

"There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things...isn't that kind of the point?"

I loved the way Mia and Alex accidentally fell in love. The night where he surprised her at work & ended up helping her paint the sets for the elementary school musical made my heart scream with joy. The remainder of the book just keep my little ticker beating with joy. I just loved their story.

Oh...and when Alex adopts the dog...forget about it. *dies in cute*

The hilarious banter, the cute romantic gestures, and the tight-knit family really are what drove me to really enjoy this rom-com.

I will say I was a little thrown off by the synopsis saying it was for fans of "The Office," I was a little confused where the show came into the plot. The comedy style wasn't similar. Alex & Mia were far from Jim & Pam. There wasn't a goofy boss who mimicked Michael Scotts shenanigan's. I was a little bummed by this because that little tidbit really drove my interest in Livy Hart's latest.

The one thing that made me want to throw the book out into oncoming traffic was the way that Mia's father acted. This man has had plenty of trips around the sun to learn how to not act so juvenile. When he threw a fit and gave Mia the coldest shade, when he found out about her & Alex dating, I wanted to scream. What mature parent even acts that way? Are we kidding? I remember audibly gasping and throwing my hands in the air like "huh?" Dad wake up. I know everyone's not perfect and we all have moments but the way Hart wrote that character handling the situation really shocked me.

"Romance doesn't have to be perfect; it just has to be real."

Big thumbs up for this hilarious romance. Big thumbs down for Mia's dad....and you know...the proposal on the jumbotron *cringe*

Raise your hand if you would gobble-chop your partner if they ever tried proposing to you on the jumbotron or is it just me who finds that perpetually mortifying?

(3.5 rounded up to a 4)

Some Kind of Blunderful by Livy Hart is a contemporary rom-com. We follow our two main characters with alternating points-of-view.

A year after being left at the altar, Mia seemed into Alex's online dating profile until their attempted first date fell flat. Later, she finds out that Alex is the new younger boss that her dad has been complaining about for weeks. And then she finds out their best friends are dating. They keep running into each other, for better or for worse.

This was a fun read. The banter between our leads was great, and there was just the right amount of angst for me in a rom-com. Sexy scenes are open-door and fairly explicit.

I loved Mia's relationship with her best friend Josie. Mia is also very close to her two sisters and her father. She especially cares about what her father thinks of her romantic partners, which causes most of the conflict here.

There was a wee bit of miscommunication here, but for the most part they were pretty open with each other, which was lovely to see. And speaking of some of my most disliked tropes, there isn't a third act breakup here either!

There's a good amount of character growth pretty much across the board here, and especially with Mia and Alex, both together and as individuals.

Tropes in this book include: dual POV, bad blind date, forbidden romance, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, slow burn, found family

CW: death of parent (prior to book, mentioned)

This is my second Livy Hart novel, This was a cute romance read for those that like to laugh. Some of the best parts of the read were the banter between the characters. If your a romance reader you will enjoy this delightful novel.

This was so cute 😭 Alex was such a goner for her and Mia was so head over heels in spite of herself, too.

I loved the inclusion of Mia’s family dynamic and the contrast with Alex’s. It made it so much more realistic of a challenge for them - as they obviously have very different things to worry about however they end up. But our boy is down bad and we love him for it.

I absolutely love a dual perspective where one of them is convinced the other one hates them and then when it switches over they’re just mad about how much they absolutely don’t hate them. These two were no exception.

Livy Hart sat down and thought what would make a cinnamon roll hero who just wants people to like him more adorable? I know give him a golden retriever puppy he dotes on and wow is it effective!

I really enjoyed Alex and Mia's story. I particularity loved Alex and wanted him to have someone who saw him for him and supported him. I liked Mia too but I struggled a little bit with how much she let her Dad influence her. I appreciated they had a close relationship and he was struggling but I wish she had pushed back a bit more when he interfered in her life.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one! It is beautifully written and the steamy scenes are fantastic. If you are looking for a light and fun read I completely recommend it!

4.5 for this one from me. I really enjoyed this read and the spicy scenes were pretty great (I’ll never look at a hot tub the same way again)!

I am of the age group to remember Some Kind of Wonderful (movie) and She’s Some Kind of Wonderful (song - which ps has been playing in my head since picking up this book)…so that all added a fun little mood to my experience while reading this.

Personally, if I was as close to my dad as this FMC was said to be, then I don’t think lust alone would make me date someone who I know my father hates…but in this book it didn’t bother me overall that that one piece of the story felt a bit off. FMC is obviously an adult living on her own, so lack of parental approval isn’t a dealbreaker for me.

Overall though, this one just gave me all the feels and kept me engaged in the Will they or won’t they (I mean we all know they will because it’s a book but the how they get there can always be up in the air).

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled for a digital copy. All opinions and ratings are my own.

It took me a good while to get going in this book. I'm not even sure why. The characters were likable and had good chemistry. It was just missing something. It's good, but nothing to really make it stand out. It falls flat. The last 10% is the best part. I really loved Mia's surprise for Alex it was unique and made total sense for the situation. I really don't have anything else to say. Enemies to Lovers with a good amount of spice.

If you know Livy, you already love her whip-smart banter and steamy shenanigans; if you don’t know her, you’re about to discover one of the funniest new voices in romance!

Struggling teacher Mia Madden has a lot on her plate – doing her best for the kiddos, saving for the next phase of her career, and keeping an eye on her widowed dad. She doesn’t have time for hot dudes from dating sites to stand her up, so if it were up to her, she’d call Whole Man Removal Services to deal with uptight, corporate body snatcher, half-an-hour-late Alex Conroy. But somehow he’s connected to her in every possible way, and they can’t stop getting thrown together everywhere from her dad’s company picnic to a Benihana nightmare meal with her ex’s parents. She probably shouldn’t even be thinking about sleeping with the enemy…oops.

I’ve screamed a lot of overexcited things about Livy Hart since 2022, and I stand by every one of my whistle-toned, unintelligible squeals. Her books are superlative – not just funny but HILARIOUS, not just millennial but tapped into the beating heart of twentysomethings in the 2020s. They’re romcoms in every sense, with gasp-worthy banter, pratfalls, and gags right alongside the smoldering chemistry. If you like saying “I told you so,” then get ahold of her backlist and get ready to be the one to tell your friends YOU SAW HER FIRST. Thanks to #netgalley and #entangled for an advance review copy.

This book had all the makings of a good story but I felt the characters lacked chemistry. With romance, there needs to be sparks and connection but this book didn't have it so I struggled to enjoy it, I need to want to see the characters together.
there was no depth and I struggled to see why these characters ended up together.

I thought the story was kind of cute. Liked the characters. The book is written very well, but there could have been a little more chemistry between the MC's...

Mia has been convinced that she needs to begin dating and what better way than through a dating app. When she meets her date, she begins to question that decision as not only is he focused on his career, but he also happens to be her the boss her father despises. She never intended to see him again however fate had other ideas when their best friends become a couple.

Due to his past Alex doesn’t allow many people close and he is confused by his feelings for Mia as despite all the differences between them he can’t seem to stay away. The more time they are forced to spend together the more they truly get to know each other and that is when the feelings and chemistry between them grow but they still must deal with the complication of her love for him and her loyalty to her family.

The chemistry between them is intense, the romance between them is enchanting and the banter was entertaining. I enjoyed seeing the progression of their relationship as they tried to deal with emotions that neither was prepared for and realize that they are perfect for each other in every way.

This was such a cute read!! This was my first book by Livy Hart and I hope to continue to read her work. I loved the first date gone wrong vibes and how fate has other plans. Livy writes top notch banter and that is a win for me. I loved that there was so much slow burn and tension and then everything was dialed up HOT HOT HOT. One of my favorite things about reading is when you love the side characters just as much as the main characters. That is SO important to me.

Thank you for the advanced copy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

i think this was probably one of the cutest romances i’ve read in a long time. i’m not even going to lie, i put this book off for a WHILE and now i deeply regret that. it was just so GOOD!

it has an absolute banger of a first line, and immediately set my reading experience off with me laughing. it’s probably one of my favorite first lines in a while.

we also start off the book with our two main characters having a verifiable meet disaster for their first date. there’s a misunderstanding and they both think they’re meeting at a specific place, so when mia, our female lead, believes she’s being stood up, she calls her best friend to let off some steam. while she’s ranting about her dating woes, alex, our male lead, comes up behind her with a quippy reply after overhearing mia basically flame him to her friend and things just spiral from there. purse wine gets spilled, alex has to take a thirty minute, but very important, work call, and they basically agree that this never happened and go on with their lives. the day ends with mia talking to her best friend josie, and josie basically says, “well, yeah, babe that sucks. don’t worry though! you’ve gotta meet my new boyfriend’s best friend. i know you guys will hit it off!” and guess who that ends up being?

now anyone who knows me knows how in love i am with meet messes/disasters, so i loved this book from the get go. to make things worse, alex turns out to be the boss that her dad constantly trash talks at home, and once she learns THAT, she’s officially a member of the anti-alex club. her dad has been through so much, losing his wife a few years back, being looked over for the promotion he was all but promised, and if she dated his number one enemy? she just can’t do that to her dad. but of course, this is a romance book and things never go as planned.

there were some plot points in this book that i absolutely loved! one was alex and his constant battle with his worthiness and abandonment issues. he grew up pretty unloved by his aunt and uncle, who were his guardians, and his cousin who pretty much only saw him as family when it was convenient. throughout his relationship with mia you get to see him gradually change his perspective and see that he is worthy of love, which was really heart warming in my opinion.

as the daughter of a widowed father, and the last unmarried child, mia feels like she’s often responsible for her dad’s feelings. she wants to make sure he’s happy and not lonely, which plays a big part in why she decides not to pursue alex at first. now, i’m a huge people pleaser who often feels responsible for the happiness and feelings of others, so i’m in her same boat on that front. seeing mia learn that there’s only so much she can do to help and that eventually things depend on the other person was a huge wake up call for me. i need to take a page out of her book soon. maybe then i’ll be less anxious haha.

this book was so fun and such an easy read. it was so easy to just turn off my brain and get lost in these two people’s story. it’s something i love about romance books and something i cannot wait to experience again.

This freaking book was so fun! So much so that I looked up her previous books and read and loved them as well.
The chemistry, banter, and humor really made this book shine. The interactions felt genuine, the characters were relatable, and the pacing of the romance was perfect. So, so excited for her next book!
