I rarely read romance, but genre switches are always a refreshing change. Also have found a few romance novels I have read to be relaxing. This is a good fun read for the most part.
Mia has had a serious relationship setback when the person she was engaged to, ditched her at the very last minute. She is getting back to dating now, encouraged by her friend Josie. She comes across Alex’s profile online and finds him very attractive. As they meet at a restaurant, it feels like they are very incompatible. Alex is ambitious, has moved places, and now works at a hospitality technology company. Mia, is a school teacher, and likes quiet and peace, with family close by. She learns that Alex and her dad both work for Peachtree Tech. Though they did not really get along in this first meeting, they keep bumping into each other. Mia is also shocked to learn that Alex is actually her dad’s boss, about whom her dad makes critical remarks.
I liked how the contrasting personalities of Alex and Mia were portrayed. A lot of the dialogues between them, especially their early interactions make for good reading. The awkward situation Mia finds herself in when she learns that Alex is her dad’s boss also comes across well. In the later parts, the story descends into the very typical fare.
Overall, an easy & fun read.
My rating: 3.75 / 5.
I know it’s going to sound dramatic but Mia and Alex made me believe in fate and love again.
As with any romance novel, a part of their relationship felt toooo coincidental and a little rushed but it was enjoyable overall. I enjoyed their banter and casual run-ins and the best friend double-date angle.
Alex and Mia first met when they matched on a dating app and tried to meet at a park full of food trucks and thought the other had ghosted them when they couldn’t find each other. From there, things went downhill fast as Alex couldn’t seem to say the right thing and Mia’s nerves got the better of her.
To top it off, Mia learns the next day that the hot, albeit douchey, guy she’s just had a horrible date with was also her dad’s new, hot-shot boss. They don’t mention their date to her dad, thinking they’ll just forget about it and never really have to see each other again anyways. But they keep running into each other because their best friends are dating each other and Mia is fairly involved with her father’s workplace events - kind of weird for an adult child but Alex thinks so too. From an employee night at an NBA game featuring the infamous Kiss Cam to a community project day at a dog shelter, they can’t seem to stay away from each other. When they are forced to work together in an escape room with their best friends, Mia finds it difficult to forget how freakishly hot Alex is. Things finally heat up in the broom closet of a booze cruise and they decide to try to hide their “relationship” to avoid any further complications.
Mia is a very sweet preschool teacher who values her family and friends above everything else. And her family is equally as protective as her - especially since she was left at the altar by her high school sweetheart just 6 months before she and Alex meet.
Alex’s family isn’t really in the picture and work has always been his first priority.
This story is a great small-town romance - heartfelt and semi-steamy. My favorite part was the forbidden love trope - they have to hide their relationship because of Alex’s bad relationship with Mia’s dad.
There were a few things that could have used a little more attention at the end - Alex’s family drama as an example. And Mia isn’t my favorite of Livy Hart’s heroines. But overall this was a great cozy read and I’m excited to recommend this to anyone who have either read and enjoyed Livy Hart’s other books or are looking for a quick, gentle romance with just the right amount of spice to season any palette!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing the ARC.
I wanted to like this book more than I did. I felt like there was a lot going on and there wasn't a lot of focus on developing the characters. I wish the author had spent more time on the character's backstories - made them more prominent than what they were in the story and how their lives currently are defined by those backstories.
I also don't believe for a second that Alex, at 26, has that level of management responsibility. He basically just finished his MBA and is now essentially a director. It seems very off putting to suggest that he's some kind of wunderkind, that he came by it naturally. I can understand why Mia's dad doesn't like him.
Overall, not my favorite book, but not bad. I think this will find its home with someone who enjoys this type of book.

General Thoughts: 3.75 stars. This one was a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were things I loved and things I didn't love quite so much. However, on the whole, I enjoyed it, and I'm glad I read it. For readers who love lighthearted comedy of errors, this one is a good one. It also had some great one-liners throughout, including the first line. "The road to Hades is paved with suspiciously hot online dating profiles." I enjoyed the writing style and voice. There were a bunch of quippy one-liners throughout.
It's a lighthearted book so the character depth of some other books isn't there, but that's okay because of the genre. However, I would have liked a bit more in this one all the same.
I wasn't sure how the author was going to redeem one of the MC's first impressions on me, but the author mostly succeeded in doing so by the end. All in all a fun read that I enjoyed.

Well written and funny a fun rom-com with two fun main characters. I really like the idea of two people who don't have the meet-cute keep running into each other and have their romance grow. It's not common to see the awkward bumbling romance and I think the author did a great job of making the growing attraction believable without making it too cringey or making either unlikable.
What I didn't like
I did have a problem getting through this because I found Mia's dad to be a complete waste and not sympathetic at all (which made it difficult to believe/understand the conflict for the main characters since I desperately wanted to give her dad the finger and tell him what for). He is controlling, made Mia act like the adult after his wife died, makes everyone cater to his emotions (that he won't recognize or deal with), and generally doesn't act like a grown-up, but I'm supposed to feel sympathetic for him? No way. He is 100% the villain of this book so I found most of this book more frustrating than was intended since I was hoping for a conflict resolution that wasn't really part of the story.
I really like both Mia and Alex, both are relatable well written characters, but I could have done without her man-child father who I was supposed to suspend judgement of. I would still read other books by this author, because if these characters had been in any other story I would have loved it.
Holy steam! This is super spicy and full of cute banter and swoon. Recommended for fans of Elle Kennedy and Meghan Quinn. Sure to be popular!
Mia and Alex had one bad first date that led to several awkward encounters after. There isn't even one degree of separation between them. He's her dad's new boss and their friends are dating each other. Even if they don't want to cross paths, it keeps happening. And then they discover that maybe the other isn't so bad after all. I mean, the more you see someone the less irritating and annoying they become, right? All these moments that they get thrown together uncover yet another facet that make Mia and Alex see each other in a different light. This was a great enemies to lovers romcom weekend read!
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
Livy Hart writes such great rom-coms, and this is no exception. Mia and Alex are clearly a horrible fit for each other, but there are so many instances of fate pushing them together. They match on a dating app and meet up at a food truck. But their first date is horrible. And then they just can't escape each other afterwards.
This book was so fun and sweet with well-paced steam. I loved both Alex and Mia and so many great scenes and interactions. Add in volunteering at an animal rescue, and of course, my heart goes pitter patter. I also really loved Mia's relationship with her sisters and her father. I love seeing a strong family unit.
I didn't find the conflict resolution quite what I hoped and would have liked a bit more character growth. But overall this was such a great escape and a really lovely book.
Thank you to Entangled and the Joyful Chaos Book Club for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

Mia and Alex keep running into eachother after a bad first date. As the paths cross they find out the other is not so bad. Attraction builds. A fun read!
This is my second book by Livy Hart, and I've decided she's an auto buy author for me. I absolutely loved watching the relationship between Alex and Mia go from disdain to a full out smoldering fire of swoon and touching moments. I felt so deeply for Alex, with his life full of hurts. It made me truly happy that he found Alex and her wonderful loving family. This story had the perfect amount of swoon and spice, with an excellent story that had fun banter, depth, and sweet moments. I highly recommend.
If you like rom-coms with Toveable characters this is for vou!!
This is a cute, funny, sexy and sweet story. I really enjoyed.
This book was great! This book was so cute! I LOVED the pop culture references. I loved the enemies to lovers. But I did wish the beginning went by a little faster.
Listen, if you aren’t reading Livy Hart, you need to start! Planes, Trains and All the Feels was one of my favorites of the year so far and now Some Kind of Blunderful is another 5 ⭐️read!
This one has everything I love in a romance: character and relationship building, witty banter and a wonderful slow burn to spice. Livy writes slow burn perfectly. The dislike to friends to lovers progressed at just the right speed. And Alex..good lord the swoon! I can’t say enough about this book!!!! I enjoyed every second of it and highly recommend!
Thank you entangled publishing and Livy Hart for the arc.
I absolutely adored this book! Alex Conroy and Mia Madden meet on possibly the worst date ever. They have nothing in common. They both write this date off as a horrible experience and plan to never see each other again. The universe has other plans. They keep being put in each other's sphere and eventually give into their attraction towards each other. The spice was amazing I'll give it a 3.5/5 on the spice scale because the sex scenes started halfway through and were featured pretty often once they started.
The humor and the pop culture references were my favorite. I love books and TV shows with a ton of references. This book was hilarious with the plenty of awkward, second hand embarrassment moments. I thought I was going to have to give everything I read for the rest of the year a 4/5 because of the chokehold Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros has put on my life, but Livy Hart you brought me out of my reading slump the second Mia took that bottle of wine out of her purse..
Mia Madden’s online date with Alex Conroy does not go according to plan. After waiting thirty minutes and believing that she has been stood up, she believes by the end of the date that he might represent everything she finds disdainful. She is further horrified to learn that he is also the hot-shot new boss her dad can’t stop complaining about. So, when their respective best friends begin dating, they find themselves constantly thrown together until they find themselves hooked on each other. Soon Mia is not sure whether she likes him more than what she should and how she is going to be able to explain her secret relationship with her father.
The chemistry between Alex and Mia is fairly intense despite how much they know that their relationship might not be a great idea. Both realise that it is more than just lust and that it might be worth holding onto, despite the fallout that will occur when Mia’s father discovers the truth. Great secondary characters that don’t overwhelm the story but play a part in how the relationship develops. Entertaining from the beginning to the end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Firstly, thank you Netgalley for an ARC of this book!
Okay...what a cute title. This drew me in instantly, and the cover art? absolutely lovely. I am so glad i requested this book. I love discovering new authors and Livy Hart is one I will keep an eye out for. Hilarious writing. Banter for days. I was hooked from early doors and I really want to refrain from spoiling the plot but you will be an absolute simp for these two MC's...the slow burn will get under your skin like an itch you want to scratch... you just want to know when it ends, but the itch is soooo good. THE SPICE. chef's kiss. I want an audio copy of this book stat!!
4 stars!
Some Kind of Blunderful was such a delightful romantic comedy. I laughed, I felt for the characters, I really did cheer for Mia and Alex. The banter and tension were written so well. I absolutely enjoyed this one and will be recommending this to anyone who needs a somewhat light hearted but spicy read!
Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
really cute read! I had a lot of fun with these characters, can’t wait to see more from this author!
3.5⭐️ This was a quick and fast paced read which I appreciated. However, there was a lot of miscommunication initially, which I do not like, and I did not like how either of our main characters handled the third act conflict.
