I love me some romance set up in the Christmas time period. It was a fun and engaging read. I had strong emotions towards the FMC's mother. Loved the setup of the two MCs, but felt that the romance side fell a little short of my expectations.
The smutty scenes were rather in focus insted of maybe the falling for each other desperately scenes. So it felt a bit hurried and not well conceptualized.
Pass on the insta love. While the characters were likable I found myself wondering why I cared about their story and it was a struggle to finish
3⭐️/5
While this was a fun and quick read, I felt like it could have been a lot shorter personally. I started getting bored around 60% and it just seemed played out by that point.
I will say though, I am normally not a fan of insta love, but it worked well for this book, the characters were complex and their chemistry was on point. The spice scenes were also very well written and not repetitive.
While this is not a book I will re-read, it was still enjoyable for the most part and I did finish it in a day.
This book is a super easy read. Simple, spicy romance between an unlikely couple. V is a doctor from Charlotte while Dave is a bartender from Rochester. They meet while V is on vacation with her two best friends and the story goes from there.
I loved this RomCom! It was a quick and easy read and consistently entertaining. I loved the main characters. V always successful and Dave lacked in that category never experiencing a successful career. The characters are relatable, and their chemistry kept me turning the pages. Yet again, this novel proves that opposites attract and compliment each other!
This was cute, it gave me all the feels just around Christmas time is the best. Definitely would recommend this book!!
This is a good book. The two main characters are V and Dave. V and her friends are hanging out at the bar where Dave works. Dave ask V out on a date. They have a great weekend together. They decide to do the long distance dating. They try to see each other every couple of weeks. They text or talk everyday. They meet the parents. They fall in love.
I unfortunately could not get into this book, I found it quite slow and not alot happened. This is a real shame as I really enjoyed the concept
It is light on the holidays, but hot on the spice. A bit superficial and I had hoped to be a little more invested in the romance, but I struggled. I did enjoy E.F. Dodd’s writing style so I will be checking out future books from this author.
Such a cute rom-com with a great cast of supporting characters.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a book with an interesting story but spicier than I expected. I really wanted to continue reading but I think this is the kind of romance novel that just isn't for me.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Almost Perfect is a delightful read that reminds us that sometimes the most precious gifts in life come in unexpected packages. It's a story of love, growth, and the joy of embracing the unexpected. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a heartwarming romance with relatable characters and a touch of humor.
This was a very enjoyable read!
I'm not normally huge on insta-love, but with V and Dave, it just worked!
Their chemistry was so tangible, and you were rooting for them from day one. I really enjoyed the level of spice, and the ratio of spice/plot was fair.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this for a fun holiday read!
I looked forward to reading the latest book from
EF Dodd, this story draws you in to watch how a long distance relationship develops.
The main characters are living life and not looking for a commitment, but it doesn’t take long for them to think differently. V and Dave are convinced that they can do a relationship long distance, there’s definitely chemistry, is it enough?
The storyline explores how other’s opinions weigh in, the thoughts from both sides and obstacles to be overcome.
An easy quick read with plenty of spice, it feels like the story is for any time of the year and I’m keen to read more from this author.
Thank you to Sugar Beaver Books, NetGalley and author for the opportunity to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This story is the last of the "Not Looking for Love " series about a trio of friends that play close, intricate parts in each others lives. I've read Kez's "Risky Restoration" and Rae's "Earning it" and while this one is not as enthralling as the others, it was still an engrossing read. Viv or V as she is commonly known is a celebrated pediatrician who has not realized her self-worth based on the misconceptions between her and her family, so she is shy to stand up for herself and take and say what she wants. Dave is a bartender who is really a professional who has fallen into a slump he seems unable to emerge from. Dave and V share similar traits that would make it almost impossible to believe that a connection would flourish between them. It is these qualities plus their lack of self-awareness, that attracts them to each other. while delaying the formalization of their relationship.Once they both opened up about their true feelings, along with Kez's gentle advice, Rae's abrasive intrusions and recognizing the impact outside influences make on their choices, they are able to move forward in realizing what they truly need in their lives. The author continues to whip up engaging reads with happy endings. Netgalley provided this ARC for my fair and honest review.
Such a cute read for Christmas! I love to read themed books based on the holidays and this one made my Christmas dreams come true. So cute!! I will probably reread this next Christmas season!
The book was easy to read, however there was more spicy than romance in my opinion. The characters felt superficial and didn't really get to know one another outside of being physical. In my opinion it just wasn't done well especially for a christmas book. The story isn't unique and just lost my interest after a while. DNF
A steamy, open door, opposites attract, long distance rom-com.
Dave is an intelligent, loyal and sexy small town bartender. Eating away at his esteem, he ends up trapped too long in a temporary job that he hates to love while he struggles to find direction and fulfillment in his life. Vivian is a stunning, successful city dwelling doctor with a solid life plan but a stale love life, by unintentional design. They cross paths for a hot one-night-stand but find it impossible to part ways after a lust-filled weekend together.
The MCs had great chemistry, and the insecurities and challenges they faced were very relatable. I appreciated how the author displayed the ins and outs of a long distance relationship. The banter between the entire cast of characters effectively lightened the mood. The problem with insta-love stories is that, without tremendous character development, the overall lack of angst leaves a lot to be desired in the second half. In this case, it was a fiery first half that fizzled in the middle then ended abruptly (albeit somewhat brilliantly) after an immature third act conflict. The spicy scenes smoothed out the wrinkles for me in the end.
This title needs an updated cover. Even though the story takes place throughout autumn, it ends five days before Christmas. Not quite the holiday romance it promises to be.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. Perfect spicy Christmas story. Characters were likeable, and the story was fast paced
