RIVETING!

Not Ghosts, But Spirits III is a collection of artwork across multiple mediums that come together quite wonderfully. The book highlights 64 artists from the women, queer, trans and enby communities. There are poems and stories about women told by women. Queer stories about coming out. Poems about sexuality, culture, and gender. Photos and illustrations that highlight these stories. My favorites pieces were by Anna Laura Falvey, Kristina Perry, and Mimi Flood.

It is very well put together and I thank NetGalley and Querencia Press for the gifted copy!

This is a really great poetry and drawing collection! While I had my my favorites, everything in this collection was great! I would recommend this! My favorites are 'Pop!' By Jake Price, 'Transition Goals' by Zephyr James and 'The Flesh Won't Last Forever' by Elyssa Tappero. Special Thank You to Emily Perkovich, Querencia Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Querencia Press for the eARC.

There were some pieces -- particularly the photography and a few poems -- that I liked and a few that I really liked, but overall I just didn't connect with the vast majority of the poems in the collection. It just wasn't for me.

I was given the arc by NetGalley and I couldn’t be more thankful!
This beautiful and heartfelt art & poetry collection made me FEEL. So many of the poems made me pause and think and the artworks in between created a well rounded concept.
This book was crafted with so much love and it really shows!

"Not Ghosts, But Spirits," edited by Emily Perkovich, is a unique and compelling anthology that features artwork from 64 contributors from the women, queer, trans, and enby communities. While the description provided is succinct, it hints at the book's inclusive and diverse approach to showcasing art from marginalized voices.

The title, "Not Ghosts, But Spirits," suggests a theme of presence, identity, and visibility. It seems to imply that the contributors are not fading into the background or being overlooked but are making their presence felt through their creative expressions.

The fact that this anthology features artwork from multiple contributors belonging to marginalized communities highlights the importance of representation and the power of art as a means of self-expression and storytelling. It provides a platform for voices that may not always receive the recognition they deserve.

In a world where representation and visibility matter, "Not Ghosts, But Spirits" appears to be a significant contribution, allowing artists from marginalized backgrounds to share their unique stories and perspectives through the medium of art. Readers who appreciate art that challenges norms, explores identity, and celebrates diversity are likely to find this anthology both inspiring and illuminating.

This collection was hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed some of the poems, short stories, and artwork included in this, but there was also a lot of work that I didn’t enjoy as much. I will say, most of the visual artwork really added to my experience reading this and I found myself touched by them. The poems are where I found myself either really loving the work or really disliking it. I think overall, I had a favorable view of this anthology, even if there were some poems I did not enjoy.

Art is very subjective, in particular poetry. There were some poems, some art that I really liked, some I really didn't like and some I just didn't care about. So it's very difficult for me to actually rate this anthology.
I love that this book is diverse in every way: heritage, gender, sexuality of the authors and also topics/contents, style and typography of the poems. So there will be something in there for every taste!

My favourite poems where by far the ones by j. g. bova.

The only thing that really bothered me was that it started out with the poems I personally disliked the most, but that's a me problem I suppose.

I was fooled by this book. I thought it was a horror anthology. Don't get me wrong there are horror stories and art that make you gasp. However, I found this to be a life anthology. Full of life and situationational stories from the varied authors.

I enjoyed this book immensely. Hope there will be another edition next year.
